Dominic Scelzi Survives Stockton to Produce Second Straight Top 10

Inside Line Promotions – STOCKTON, Calif. (March 19, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi recorded a seventh-place result last Saturday during the FVP Platinum Battery Western Spring Shootout at Stockton Dirt Track.

It gives Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports sponsored team back-to-back top-10 finishes with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series for the second time in Scelzi’s career.

“Every time you can move forward and run inside the top 10 with the World of Outlaws it’s an accomplishment,” he said. “When we timed in I think I made five or six qualifying laps. The red light was put on on accident. We got going again and then a push truck came out. I didn’t get a regular qualifying session, which I think hurt us. I think a couple of those laps that didn’t count were really good laps.”

Scelzi was able to qualify eighth quickest in his group as the 39 competitors were separated into two groups. He then advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to lock into the 12th starting position for the A Main.

“I was happy to get around Daryn (Pittman) for third and move forward like that,” he said. “I felt good going into the main event.

“The track was hooked up and rough. I wanted to finish and be smart. We had a good race car and I moved around the bottom. As guys hit holes and biked I was able to get by them. I think for us you’re not going to be a hero on a track like that. You just need to finish. You take what you can get.”

Scelzi did just that as he made smart decisions and capitalized by maneuvering to a seventh-place finish to garner his second straight top 10. Here is a link to watch the main event: https://youtu.be/FHqOwu-ZGz8.

Scelzi is scheduled to compete this Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., for the Ocean Outlaw Showdown and Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield, Calif., with the World of Outlaws.

“We kept the momentum going,” he said. “I really like racing at Ocean Speedway and we had a good time at Bakersfield during our debut in 2016 so I’m looking forward to this weekend.”
