Late Race Incident Collects Ty Dillon and No. 95 Advil Chevrolet Costing Team a Top-10 Finish

“We were so solid all day. I’m really happy with our effort all weekend long and how much speed that we showed. We unfortunately just got caught up in that big wreck in the closing laps of the race. It stinks, because it looked like we were on our way to a top-10 finish. Matt (Borland, crew chief) called a great race and we had some really solid pit stops. The balance of the race car was pretty spot on all race and that’s credit to Matt and the guys for being prepared. I’m proud of our No. 95 Advil Chevrolet and the partial season I was able to race with this team. I’m excited for what the future holds. I’ve learned a lot this season and am appreciative of the opportunity.”

Ty Dillon battles to finish 25th at Kentucky Speedway despite heavy damage to No. 95 Chevrolet
“Tonight really wasn’t our night, but we stayed with it and battled to the end. We got into a wreck pretty early on and had to make several pit stops to repair the right-front and nose of our No. 95 Chevy Summer Sell Down Chevrolet. I’m proud of the effort of our team and its never-give-up attitude. Overall, I learned a lot and gained some experience on this new racing surface; it was tough to maneuver and pass and had a lot of speed. This is not how I envisioned the night going, but being able to race here in the Sprint Cup Series is always fun.”

TY DILLON QUOTES:
What are your goals for this race?
“The biggest and most glaring task will be to learn how the new track surface races. I’m also looking to gain more experience in the Sprint Cup Series on 1.5-mile race tracks and with this new low downforce package. At Atlanta (Motor Speedway) and Texas (Motor Speedway) I gained some valuable experience on 1.5-mile race tracks and learned more about the new package, with two different teams. This weekend, I’m hoping to finish on the lead lap and inside the top 15. I’ll lean on my teammates this weekend to debrief and learn more about how I can get better.”

Ty Dillon drives No. 95 Nexium 24HR Chevrolet to 20th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway

“Tonight we had a car that was capable of finishing inside the top 20, and that’s exactly what we did. Todd (Parrott, crew chief) and crew made great adjustments and kept up with the changing track condition. I think the biggest thing I learned tonight was that these races are long, but there still isn’t much room for error. I enjoyed the opportunity to race in the Sprint Cup Series this past weekend and felt this was a great opportunity to get better as a race car driver and gain valuable experience. I look forward to the next opportunity to race in the No. 95 Chevrolet.

Ty Dillon drove Circle Sport Racing’s No. 33 Nexium® 24HR Chevrolet SS to a 23rd-place finish Saturday evening in his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Dillon, who qualified 25th on Friday evening, raced a majority of the race inside the top-25. Dillon battled a tight-handling condition in the middle portion on the race due to light contact with the outside wall in the early goings. The No. 33 team made appropriate repairs and adjustments attempting to keep Dillon on the lead lap. Long-green flag stretches in the latter portion of the race allowed the leaders to pass Dillon, putting him a lap down. Battling for the Lucky Dog position, Dillon noted the car’s balance still remained a little tight through the center of the corners. In the end, Dillon crossed the finish line 23rd, capping his Sprint Cup Series season with three top-25 finishes in five starts.

Brian Scott Finishes 14th at Texas Motor Speedway

In his final NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the 2015 season, Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet qualified in the 21st position for the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Multiple tire issues sprung on other competitors during the opening laps forcing early pit strategy and tire management for the 334-lap event. Scott utilized his track-bar adjuster in his Chevrolet to secure his loose-handling conditions around the 1.5-mile speedway. The Boise, Idaho native was racing for position inside the top 10 within the first 50 laps of competition and maintained position in and around the top 10 for in the opening 150 laps of competition. Scott was shuffled to the 16th position after a restart on lap 155. As the laps wound down and the track conditions changed, Scott began to lose overall grip in his Chevrolet. The adjustments on his seventh visit to pit road on lap 198 bettered the handling, but Scott was looking for a little more help with rear drive on the long green-flag runs. The 27-year-old received the help he was looking for under a green-flag pit stop on lap 252 and moved up to the 14th position. Running in the 13th position, Scott fell one lap down to the leader on lap 281. The Shore Lodge Chevrolet team was able to recover that lap by taking the wave around during the caution period on lap 314. With 18 laps to go, the field took the final green flag of the 501-mile race and the No. 33 crossed the finish line in the 14th position.

Brian Scott Scores a Career-High NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Finish at Kansas Speedway

Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team qualified in the 16th position for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kansas 400 at Kansas Speedway. In his Sprint Cup debut at the 1.5-mile track, the 28-year-old driver raced in and around the top 20 for the first 100 laps of the race as they battled with handling issues, namely a lack of front turn on his Chevrolet SS. During pit stops on lap 110 and 156, the Shore Lodge team made minimal adjustments with both stops including four fresh tires and fuel. Scott picked up positions battling as high as 11th and not falling outside of the top 20. A two-tire stop on lap 174 left the Boise, Idaho native loose during the run, but he continued to keep lap times with the leaders and maintained his position inside the top 15. The No. 33 machine made another stop on pit road during a green-flag pit stop cycle taking four fresh Goodyear tires, fuel and no additional adjustments. The green-flag cycle left the team one lap short to the leader. Scott took the wave around on lap 246 under caution to regain the lead lap position. With 20 laps to go, the Shore Lodge Chevrolet took the green in the 14th position. A final caution period with five laps to go brought the team back to pit road for a final four-tire stop. The green-white-checkered finish allowed Scott to make his final charge and gain two positions before crossing the finish line 12th. This result marks a career high for Scott in the Sprint Cup Series.

Brian Scott and the No. 33 Jewel-Osco/Kraft Velveeta Chevrolet started the MyAFibRisk.com 400 in the 21st position after rain washed out NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Friday afternoon and set the starting lineup per the NASCAR rule book. Early in the 267-lap event, Scott reported loose-handling conditions that were addressed with an air pressure adjustment during a green-flag pit stop on lap 52. Scott was running in the 17th position when he made slight contact with the wall on lap 75. The field was brought under caution on lap 125 allowing Scott to bring his Jewel-Osco/Kraft Velveeta machine to pit road for adjustments. Scott was scored in the 21st position, one lap short to the leader and battling front-end grip from the contact earlier in the race. After another restart on lap 144, Scott once again made contact with the wall suffering damage to the right-front fender and fell to the 26th position. The Boise, Idaho native regained positions during the next 50 laps through pit stop cycles and was raced in the 20th position with 70 laps to go. The Jewel-Osco / Kraft Velveeta Chevrolet battled for positions with the tight-handling conditions for the remainder of the race finishing in the 22nd position.

In only his 14th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start, Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team finished 22nd at Richmond International Raceway in the Federated Auto Parts 400. The Boise, Idaho native started the 400-lap affair in the 17th position and battled his way into the top 15 in the early going. After the competition caution on lap 37 and an adjustment on pit road, the Shore Lodge Chevrolet lost drive-off the corners and developed a loose-handling condition. The team reversed the changes from the first stop on the lap 99 caution. Scott battled in and around the 20th position fighting a lack of rear grip. On lap 185 Scott fell one lap down to the leader. After a long green-flag run, a debris caution was delivered on lap 209 allowing the No. 33 team to make an air pressure adjustment to help manage right-rear grip. At the lap 260 mark, Scott was once again caught by the race leader and fell a second lap down. With one additional visit to pit road with less than 25 laps remaining, the team made an air pressure adjustment to secure grip in the closing laps. The No. 33 entry fell one additional lap to the leader before the checkered flag flew bringing home a 22nd-place finish.

Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet qualified for the famed Jeff Kyle 400 at the Brickyard in the 36th position. The Boise, Idaho native began the 160-lap event under loose-handling conditions, but moved his way up six positions within 15 lap utilizing his track bar adjuster in the Chevrolet SS. Green-flag pit stops led the Shore Lodge team to pit road on lap 30 for four tires, fuel and a chassis adjustment. Scott was caught by the leader falling one lap down. The first caution flag was displayed on lap 44 for debris, which allowed the team to visit pit road for four fresh tires. Green-flag stops were in order for a second time and the No. 33 machine came in for four tires and fuel. Because of green-flag stops, Scott fell one additional lap to the leader. Scott took the wave around during the caution period on lap 91 to regain one lap. During the four tire stop on lap 106, there was an uncontrolled tire that left the pit stall, forcing the No. 33 to restart at the tail end of the field. Scott revisited pit road to top off on fuel and restarted 30th on lap 113. A flat tire led Scott to make contact with the wall on lap 120 bringing out the caution. The Shore Lodge team made multiple stops to fix the right-side damage. Scott also received damage with 13 laps to go and would cross the finish line in the 36th position, three laps down.

The starting order for the 160-lap event was set by first practice speeds in lieu of the NASCAR rule book after qualifying was rained out on Friday afternoon. Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet started in the 26th position and spent the majority of the first 50 laps inside the top 10. Cars in front of the Shore Lodge Chevrolet began making contact in turn 4 on lap 87. Scott was unable to avoid the mayhem and was collected in the wreckage unable to return to competition, leading him to a 42nd-place finish. Scott will make his first Sprint Cup start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 26.

Ty Dillon drove Circle Sport Racing’s No. 33 Nexium® 24HR Chevrolet SS to a 14th-place finish Sunday afternoon in his sixth-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start. The 14th-place place finish is a career high for the 23-year-old driver, and marks back-to-back top-20 finishes for the No. 33 Chevy driver. Dillon qualified 22nd on Friday afternoon, but quickly proved his Nexium® 24HR Chevy was a top-10 car in the race. After three separate rain delays, the team finally got a long green-flag stretch starting on lap 51. Dillon drove from the 16th position to ninth and remained inside of the top 10 for a majority of the stretch. With the threat of rain, crew chief Slugger Labbe called Dillon to pit road to prepare him for the final run. Dillon came off pit road 15th and was caught a lap down when a caution flag came out on lap 124. The team took the wave around to get back on the lead lap, but ran out of time to race back inside the top 10. Heavy rain clouds circled Michigan International Speedway and shortened the 200-lap race to 138 laps when the skies opened up, leaving Dillon with his 14th-place finish.

Start – 22 Finish – 14 Laps Led – 0 Points – N/A

TY DILLON QUOTE:
“Man, I really wanted to go back to green-flag racing. We had a really good car that was capable of finishing inside the top 10. Late On-Track Accident Shortens Brian Scott’s Day at Dover International Speedway

Brian Scott welcomed partners ACME and Kraft Singles on board his No. 33 Chevrolet for his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at Dover International Speedway on Sunday afternoon. The Idaho native started 26th and finished 38th in the FedEx 400 presented by Autism Speaks following a late-race incident at the “Monster Mile” concrete oval. Scott battled a tight-handling condition during a long, green-flag run early in the race, causing him to fall two laps down to the race leader. When the caution flag was displayed on lap 165, Scott elected not to pit and take the wave around to regain one lap. The field restarted on lap 168 with Scott in the 23rd position. Long green-flag racing resumed again and on lap 248 the leaders hit pit road for service. The No. 33 team had strategy on their mind and elected to stay out. This allowed the ACME/Kraft Singles machine to return to the lead lap when the caution flag was displayed on lap 260. Scott restarted 13th with 133 laps to go. A vibration in the No. 33 Chevrolet caused Scott to drop to the 19th position on lap 275 and visit pit road under green-flag conditions for four fresh Goodyear Racing tires and fuel on lap 310. Sliding back into the 24th position, down two lap to the leader, Scott continued to battle through the field for the remainder of his 11th Sprint Cup Series race. With 24 laps to go, Scott was racing in the 18th position when he got collected in an on-track accident that ended the day for the No. 33 ACME/Kraft Singles Chevrolet team. Brian Scott Contends for Top Finish En Route to 27th-Place Finish at Auto Club Speedway

Brian Scott entered his eighth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Auto Club Speedway with experience under his belt. The 27-year-old driver had already competed in the 2014 Auto Club 400 and was looking to improve his finishing position on Sunday afternoon. The No. 33 Whitetail Club Chevy qualified 25th for the scheduled 200-lap event and Scott found himself racing inside the top 20 within 15 laps of competition after the green flag waved. By lap 31 Scott was racing in 16th place continually gaining on the front runners. He raced his way through the field taking over the 11th spot on lap 53. Green-flag pit stops brought the Whitetail Chevy to pit road on lap 61 for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment. The air pressure was the right adjustment as Scott moved into the 10th place on lap 78. Another caution brought the No. 33 machine to pit road for four tires, fuel and a tire pressure adjustment on lap 87. The Slugger Labbe-led team gained two spots on pit road and restarted in the eighth position on lap 92. Scott reported his Whitetail Chevrolet SS was too tight taking off and moved to the 12th position. During the long green-flag run, Scott made contact with the wall causing slight right-front damage. He remained inside the top 18 for the next 50 laps. Green-flag stops on lap 137 put the No. 33 machine down one lap racing for the lucky dog position. As others took the wave around, Scott restarted in the 28th position with four fresh tires, fuel and 43 laps to go. The No. 33 Whitetail Club took the wave around on the lap 185 caution. With two attempts at a green-white-checkered finish, the Boise, Idaho native crossed the finish line with a 27th-place finish.

Brian Scott Quote:
“Man, we had a really fast Chevrolet SS today. If it wasn’t for that contact with the wall, we would’ve had a great finish. Our finish is not indicative to how our Whitetail SS performed. I’m so proud of this team and really looking forward to see what we can accomplish at Texas Motor Speedway.”

Brian Scott Earns Career-Best NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Brian Scott made his Las Vegas Motor Speedway NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut on Sunday afternoon in the Las Vegas 400. Scott and the No. 33 Whitetail Chevrolet team qualified for the 267-lap event on Friday in the 23rd position. At the race’s start, Scott utilized the track bar adjuster inside his Chevrolet SS to help manage his tight-handling condition. The 27-year-old needed a few more adjustments to help the Whitetail machine and the team did just that during a lap-25 competition caution. It was lap 75 when Scott visited pit road for a green-flag stop in the 22nd position and was issued a speeding penalty, resulting in the team losing one lap. Scott battled back to race back onto the lead lap for a majority of the race. On lap 177 under the green flag, Scott took over the 18th position, putting himself in contention to earn his lap back. The Whitetail team caught the break they needed when the yellow flag waved for the lap 185 caution. Two additional cautions moved the No. 33 into 13th place on the lap 198 restart. Scott held onto his position through the green-flag pit stop cycle at the end to earn a career-best 13th-place finish in only his eighth Sprint Cup Series start.

Racing in his first-career Daytona 500, Ty Dillon drove Circle Sport Racing No. 33 Cheerios/Kroger Chevrolet SS to a 28th-place finish at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Dillon, who qualified 31st for the 57th running of the Daytona 500, started 29th after two teams in front of him were relegated to the back of the field as a penalty for making unapproved changes to their cars. Dillon quickly realized his No. 33 Chevrolet SS had the power necessary to weave his way to the front of the pack and the 22-year-old rookie raced into the top-10 on lap 52 after only two pit stops. On lap 89, Dillon was scored inside the top-five positions. He remained inside there until a caution flag fell on lap 106. For the remainder of the 200-lap event, Dillon cruised in the middle of the pack. On lap 196, the right-front tire went flat and forced him into the outside wall. The damage was repaired by the No. 33 team on three separate trips to pit road returning to action for a green-white-checkered finish, where he was scored 28th when the race ended.
