Brian Scott Earns Career-Best NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Brian Scott made his Las Vegas Motor Speedway NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut on Sunday afternoon in the Las Vegas 400. Scott and the No. 33 Whitetail Chevrolet team qualified for the 267-lap event on Friday in the 23rd position. At the race’s start, Scott utilized the track bar adjuster inside his Chevrolet SS to help manage his tight-handling condition. The 27-year-old needed a few more adjustments to help the Whitetail machine and the team did just that during a lap-25 competition caution. It was lap 75 when Scott visited pit road for a green-flag stop in the 22nd position and was issued a speeding penalty, resulting in the team losing one lap. Scott battled back to race back onto the lead lap for a majority of the race. On lap 177 under the green flag, Scott took over the 18th position, putting himself in contention to earn his lap back. The Whitetail team caught the break they needed when the yellow flag waved for the lap 185 caution. Two additional cautions moved the No. 33 into 13th place on the lap 198 restart. Scott held onto his position through the green-flag pit stop cycle at the end to earn a career-best 13th-place finish in only his eighth Sprint Cup Series start.

Brian Scott Quote:
“I’m so proud of this Whitetail Chevrolet team today. The speeding penalty put us a lap down and my team did a great job rebounding and not giving up. We stuck with it and got a really good finish out of it. We’re excited about what we’ll be able to accomplish at California in two weeks.”
