Giovanni Scelzi Solid During Sprint Car Challenge Tour Event at Placerville

Inside Line Promotions – PLACERVILLE, Calif. (April 3, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi had a solid outing last Saturday at Placerville Speedway during his season debut in his family owned No. 41 sprint car.

Scelzi qualified second quickest in his group and 16th overall out of more than 45 drivers during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour event.

“There were a lot of cars so it was good that we timed second in our group and 16th overall,” he said. “Unfortunately, I didn’t have the best heat race. I was just really free and a couple of guys got under me.”

Scelzi finished fifth in the heat race to lock into the 18th starting position for the A Main.

“The track was hard to pass on,” he said. “The straightaways were really wet so you couldn’t gain on anyone. The top and bottom were super even in the corners. Whatever lane was less clogged was how successful you were that lap.”

“It was good to get some laps in the family car,” he said. “We rolled the car into the trailer in one piece so it was a good night.”

Scelzi will be back in his family sprint car this Saturday at The Dirt Track at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, Calif., with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series. He placed fourth at the track last year.
