KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 34TH
ON THE DAY
“It was a pretty eventful race. I spent the first 80 or so laps, just riding. And then we came down pit for green flag stops. My shifter had broken; and I couldn’t find my shifter and just got confused on pit road and missed my pit box and then sped leaving; so we got down a lap. I was able to get my lap back and we raced hard and then was in 12th or 15th and just got turned off (Turn) 2. But we were all just racing hard there on the last laps. That’s how this racing goes.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500 Post Race

GIVE US A SUMMARY OF YOUR OFF-SEASON, AND HOW YOU FEEL GOING INTO TODAY’S GREAT RACE
“I’m excited that today is finally here. It seems like you put in a lot of time out of the race car and a lot of things going on with the New Year and sponsorships and production days; so it’s been a busy off-season trying to get our offices and everything moved to Charlotte. So, I’m just excited to be here and heck, I race the car for a living so, things could be a lot worse. I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to hopefully try and put our name on that trophy again at the end of the day.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500–Kevin Harvick

Ty Dillon Qualifies for First Career Daytona 500
Needing to race his way into the Daytona 500, Ty Dillon drove the No. 33 Cheerios/Kroger Chevrolet SS to a 16th-place finish in Duel No. 1 Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway, locking himself into the Great American Race. Starting fourth, Dillon slipped to the middle of the pack at the beginning of the race. The 22-year-old rookie radioed he was struggling to keep pace when exiting the corners, which prompted crew chief Todd Parrott to call Dillon to pit road on lap 17 for fuel and two tires to improve the car’s handling. Following the stop, Dillon remained in the draft and hovered around the middle of the pack. A minor issue forced Dillon to pit road on lap 51 when he was involved in an on-track incident. The damage was minimal and Dillon returned to the race track to finish the 60-lap qualifying race. In the end, the No. 33 Chevrolet charged to the checkered flag and finished 16th, locking Dillon into the 57th running of the Daytona 500. Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–Duel No. 1

ALEX BOWMAN, NO. 7 TOY STATE/NIKKO RC CHEVROLET SS – Involved in a multi-car accident on lap 36
ANY IDEA WHERE THIS PUTS YOU FOR TRYING TO MAKE THE (DAYTONA) 500?
“I have no idea. I’m just really thankful for Nikko RC and Toy State and everybody at TBR (Tommy Baldwin Racing) for having faith in me and being part of Team Chevy. We had the fastest car I’ve ever had here. It’s my own fault. We caught the No. 11 (Denny Hamlin) there and I tried to go to the outside of him and the No. 19 (Carl Edwards) was behind me so obviously the No. 19 went with his teammate. I was hung out, got shuffled to the back and shouldn’t have been there to begin with. I take responsibility on that one. That is my fault. I shouldn’t have been there, but hopefully we are still in the show. If not we will get them at Atlanta.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Budweiser Duel–Post Race Comments

“It’s huge. To have the week we have had with the front row being secured, the wins tonight, it has been a great start to Speedweeks. I just have to say thank you to everybody at Hendrick Motorsports for their hard work. Thank you to my great sponsor Lowe’s. This is our 14th season together. CASEY MEARS, NO. 13 GEICO CHEVROLET SS – SIDELINED WITH ENGINE FAILURE
CAN YOU SUM UP YOUR FEELINGS RIGHT NOW?
“No. There are so many things that are so cool about this race track yet there are so many things that are out of your control. When we have something like this happen, it’s difficult. I don’t know. It doesn’t look good obviously. I’m guessing we’re going home unless something major happens in the second race or in this one. I don’t even know what to say. It rips your heart out. We’re so good at these places yet these are the places where anything can happen, and ‘anything’ happened tonight. All we can do is hope and pray that things fall badly for other people. You don’t want that to happen either. This is a great group of guys and unfortunately I’ve been through this in the same scenario but this doesn’t make us better at it. There’s a lot of year left. Hopefully something crazy happens and we get in.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Budweiser Duel–Post Race
