WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR INAUGURAL DRAG RACE BRACKET BONANZA FOUR-WIDE CHALLENGE

WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR INAUGURAL
DRAG RACE BRACKET BONANZA FOUR-WIDE CHALLENGE

DALLAS, TX (April 30, 2024) — Following the wildly entertaining Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals four Drag Race Bracket Bonanza (DRBB), players rose to the top of thousands of participants to win the inaugural Four-Wide Challenge. The overall scores were combined from the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals and the just completed Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals with Karen G. (Kbj) taking the top spot with 182.617 points followed by Zach L. (LetsGoDodgers), Austin T. (AT) and Julie B. (Jbona1) rounding out the top four. The top four winners will receive Four-Wide Challenge trophies as well as $50 gift certificates from Drag Race Bracket Bonanza prize sponsor Summit Racing Equipment.

“We are thrilled to recognize these four winners of the Drag Race Bracket Bonanza Four-Wide Challenge,” said Elon Werner, creator of Drag Race Bracket Bonanza. “We have seen tremendous interest and growth since the start of the 2024 season and this was the first time we have had four-wide racing in Drag Race Bracket Bonanza. There were a lot of upsets and congratulations to Karen, the overall winner, as well as all the top four finishers. I also want to thank Summit Racing Equipment for their support in making our first mini-series a huge success.”

Leaning into the unique format of the four-wide nationals Drag Race Bracket Bonanza also awarded the 8th place, 12th place, 16th place, 20th place, 24th place, 28th place, 32nd place, 36th place and 40th place finishers with one-of-a-kind certificates of accomplishment and $50 Summit Racing Equipment gift certificates.

Progressive AFT Arrives at Historic Silver Dollar Speedway for Inaugural Event

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 30, 2024) – The 2024 Progressive American Flat Track season, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, picks right back up this week with the Silver Dollar Short Track in Chico, California, on Saturday, May 4. The occasion marks the inaugural Grand National Championship round at the fabled Silver Dollar Speedway. While new to the Progressive AFT circuit, the track boasts six decades of history and has earned iconic status among numerous auto racing superstars, including the likes of Kyle Larsonand Brad Sweet, who now serve as the venue’s co-promoters along with business partner Colby Copeland (together SLC Promotions). The ‘24 Mission SuperTwins title fightwas widely expected to be a sequel to last year’s epic featuring all-time great Jared Mees (No. 1 Rogers Racing/SDI Racing/Indian Motorcycle FTR750) and the prodigious Dallas Daniels (No. 32 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT). And both riders have come out swinging, Daniels logging a win among his perfect podium record, and Mees finishing first and second in his last two outings. That said, they actually find themselves chasing the red-hot Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750), who leads the early-season championship chase with two victories to highlight his run of four consecutive podium finishes. The shape of the season to date might just call for another rider to step forward and claim top honors this weekend; the Silver Dollar Short Track is the fourth ST on the calendar and the three previous each saw a different rider come out on top (the aforementioned Daniels, Robinson, and Mees). Two-time Grand National Champion Briar Bauman (No. 3 Rick Ware Racing/KTM/Parts Plus KTM 790 Duke) leads a large contingent of riders eager to do just that, a group that also includes the likes of Davis Fisher (No. 67 Rackley Racing/Bob Lanphere’s BMC Racing Indian FTR750), Brandon Price (No. 92 Memphis Shades/Corbin/OTBR Yamaha MT-07), Jarod Vanderkooi (No. 20 JMC Motorsports/Fairway Ford Ohio Indian FTR750), and Johnny Lewis (No. 10 Moto Anatomy X Powered by Royal Enfield 650). There’s no shortage of potential storylines, including the return of Sammy Halbert (No. 69 Dodge Bros. Racing/Castrol Harley-Davidson XR750), who will make another attempt at giving the legendary Harley-Davidson XR750 a 503rd win after coming oh-so-close to doing so in Daytona. Meanwhile, Mission SuperTwins rookies Trevor Brunner (No. 21 Mission Foods/Zanotti Racing KTM 790 Duke), Max Whale (No. 18 Latus Motors Racing/Liqui Moly Harley-Davidson XG750R), Declan Bender (No. 70 GOMR/BriggsAuto.com/Martin Trucking Indian FTR750), and Morgen Mischler (No. 13 Big Red Super Twins/Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda Transalp) should face better odds of impressing this weekend as the entire field heads in looking to learn the nuances of the circuit. Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER Two-time defending Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER king Kody Kopp (No. 1 Rick Ware Racing/Parts Plus KTM 450 SX-F) has utilized a rare combination of speed and consistency to rule over the category the past two-plus seasons. That trend is very much alive and well in 2024 as Kopp boasts a sizable early lead thanks to alternating runs of first and second this season. His five nearest rivals are pretty much exactly those most would have predicted prior to the start of the season: Chase Saathoff (No. 88 JPG Motorsports Honda CRF450R), Tom Drane (No. 59 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F), Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R), Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 D&D Racing/Certified KTM 450 SX-F), and James Ott (No. 19 1st Impressions Race Team Husqvarna FC450). But if any of them hope to challenge Kopp for the crown, they’ll need to start beating him on track with regularity. Drane has shown himself capable of doing so since the middle of last season, although he needs a bit more luck on his side for that to be reflected in the points. Saathoff, meanwhile, comes in with his confidence boosted after having finally earned his maiden Progressive AFT victory while simultaneously motivated to claim his first actual checkered flag following last weekend’s red-flagged affair. Jared Lowe (No. 63 BigR/Little Debbie Racing Honda CRF450R) is another rider stepping up his game, fresh off his first career Progressive AFT top-five and eager to follow it up with a second in the span of seven days. There will be plenty to keep spectators entertained off the track as well, including numerous vendors, plenty of food and beverage options, live music, activities for kids, and extensive motorcycle parking. General Admission Grandstand tickets are just $30 (kids 12 and under free), while Reserved Grandstand tickets are $40 (all ages), Trackside Box tickets are $60 (all ages), and Pit Grandstand tickets offer premium viewing experiences for $70 (all ages). Visit https://www.tixr.com/groups/americanflattrack/events/silver-dollar-short-track-89147 to reserve your seats today. Gates will open for fans at 6:00 p.m. ET (3:00 p.m. PT) with Opening Ceremonies scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. ET (7:00 p.m. PT). You can catch the livestream of all the weekend’s racing activities on FloRacing. Motorsports fans can subscribe to FloRacing to enjoy over 1,000 live motorsports events in 2024. From The Sand Trap To The Final Round, Standout Weekend For Randy Meyer Racing in Charlotte

Apr 29, 2024 | Featured, Julie Nataas, Race Results

Randy Meyer Racing (RMR) had a whirlwind of a weekend at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals near Charlotte, NC that included a trip to the sand trap, earning first and second qualifying positions, and two final round finishes.

Friday evening, the RMR Bond-Coat Top Alcohol Dragster experienced a malfunction that prevented the parachutes from deploying and driver Hunter Green was unable to slow the car to prevent a jaunt into the sand trap. The car carried enough speed to meet the net at the back of the trap and suffered damaged to the front wing and nose of the body. Luckily, Green stepped away unscathed and the chassis of the dragster was intact.

Julie Nataas, pilot of the RMR Oslo Tapet & Gulvbelegg (OTG) Top Alcohol Dragster, didn’t have a triumphant outing either during Friday’s two qualifying sessions. Nataas shook the tires at the step on both runs.

After analyzing the car and the data from Green’s run, team owner and crew chief Randy Meyer was able to provide the following details about the incident, “one of the cables got in a bind and the parachutes didn’t open. The parachute lever got caught in the brake handle, so he [Green] didn’t have enough brakes to stop the car before going through the sand.”

Despite the sand trap event and tire smoke on Friday evening, the team rallied to repair the Bond-Coat dragster and tune up the OTG dragster. When Green and Nataas returned to the track Saturday afternoon, they ran side-by-side 5.21 second passes. Nataas with the slight advantage, ran a 5.210 and moved to the top qualifying position, while Green recorded a 5.217 and ended up fourth after a competitive session. Later that day, during the final qualifying session, Green bumped his teammate down to second after he blistered the track with a 5.188 and secured the number one position.

The first round of eliminations was held Saturday evening, and after a successful day of qualifying, both drivers advanced to the semifinal. During four-wide competition, the winner and runner-up of each quad advances to the next round. Green won his quad with a 5.230 at 275.67 mph and Nataas runnered-up in her quad with a 5.263 at 277.83 mph.

Competition resumed on Sunday with warmer conditions than the previous days but there was still partial cloud cover throughout the day. Nataas and Green both advanced to the final round as winners of their respective semifinal quads. Nataas ran 5.201 at 278.29, her best E.T. of the weekend. Green slowed to a 5.292 at 270.64 but it was enough to win the quad and move on.

Unfortunately, the final didn’t result in a win for RMR. Nataas finished runner-up with a 5.289 at 267.48 mph to Mike Coughlin’s 5.280 at 268.65 mph.

Nataas is confident that this weekend was a turning point for the team, “we put a new motor in the car this weekend and after running it, I feel like we got our car back. We might have been behind in the final round by a little but we’re running like we should.”

Green ran low E.T. of the final quad with a 5.266 at 268.81 but fouled with a red-light start.

“This weekend was a crazy one full of ups and downs. I’m disappointed in myself, just hate that I let my guys down after they worked so hard to fix the car after going into the sand. We have a fast and consistent car, and we were the only car to run in the teens this weekend. I have ten races left this year and the championship is still up for grabs with the car and team I have behind me,” Green commented on the tumultuous weekend.

Although the team experienced a rough start to the weekend, Meyer was pleased with the overall performance and outcome at the four-wide event. “We had a really good weekend here. Unfortunately, we tore up some engine parts and car parts on Friday, but we worked hard to overcome that.”

RMR is headed to Indianapolis Raceway Park next weekend for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Cleetus and Cars regional, and Meyer has a positive outlook. “We’re leaving here with two really good cars and two drivers that did a great job. We just came up a little bit short, but it’s the best weekend we’ve had so far this year. To qualify one and two, we haven’t done that in a long time. I think as it gets warmer out, we typically like those conditions and we’ll hopefully run a little better.”

Nataas will return to the seat of the RMR OTG dragster next weekend May 3-4 at the NHRA LORDS regional at IRP. Green will rejoin the circuit next month at the NHRA LORDS regional at his home track, Texas Motorplex in Dallas.

CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA MEMORIAL IN TULARE NEXT FOR NARC 410 SPRINT CAR SERIES

(4/29/24 – Ben Deatherage) Tulare, California …The 900+ horsepower fire-breathing cars and stars of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series are thrilled to return to Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday, May 4th, for the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial! The 1/3-mile clay oval action track in Tulare is renowned for its breathtaking action, lightning-quick speed, and edge-of-your-seat racing.

“We’re really excited to get back to Tulare,” said Chico’s Nick Parker, who is off to a hot start and enters the weekend fifth in the championship standings. “It’s a track we’ve been okay at and struggled at sometimes, but I’m feeling really confident from some of our recent runs and that we continue to build off of our good finishes.”

The Faria Memorial marks the third round of the 65th Anniversary season for the Northern Auto Racing Club. It is the third different venue the popular series has visited in 2024.  The schedule has also endured three rain-outs.

The race is run in memory of two members of the storied Faria family. Chris unfortunately passed away in a farming accident in 1993, and Brian was tragically killed in an automobile crash in early 2006. This will be the first time since 2021 that NARC has been a part of the Faria Memorial.  The companion division for the evening is the Kings of Thunder 360 Sprints.

Championship Chase

Despite still being in the early stages of the quest to become the King of the West, this Saturday kicks off a busy portion of the calendar as it will significantly indicate who will become the frontrunners for the prestigious championship title. It kicks off the meat of the schedule with 16-races in the next 11-weeks.

Cole Macedo will lead the points table entering the Faria Memorial and is batting one-hundred-percent in the win column with NARC by taking care of business at both the Mini Gold Cup and the Asparagus Cup. After spending the last few weeks in the Midwest, the Lemoore racer, in the Tarlton Motorsports #21, recently posted an impressive fifth-place result at West Memphis, Arkansas’ Riverside International Speedway on April 23rd with the High Limit Series and was fourth against the World of Outlaws on April 29th at Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky.

Tanner Carrick, from Lincoln, is the current runner-up in the championship race and trails Macedo by a mere twelve markers. Carrick has posted two Top 10 results in two NARC feature starts and was on the podium with a third-place finish at the new Stockton Dirt Track back in April.

Caeden Steele is the pacesetter in the Class of 2024 rookie race as he sits third in the standings. The Easton driver wowed the crowd at Chico when he was third at the drop of the checkered and is a star on the rise in the Golden State.

2017 champion Bud Kaeding is currently fourth in points and has yet to finish outside of the Top 10 with the series, including a season-best fifth at the Mini Gold Cup. The Campbell chauffeur has managed to score three victories at Tulare over the years when NARC has come to town, with his most recent trip to Thunderbowl victory lane on April 21st, 2018, during the Spring Nationals.

Parker, originally from Tucson, Arizona, has shown moments of brilliance with NARC this year. The 2023 Rookie of the Year scored his first career NARC Top 5 at the Asparagus Cup. After finishing fifth at Stockton, the team is hungry to build on their April performance.

Who to Watch

Justin Sanders hopes to return to his winning ways for the Mittry Motorsports #2X team. The driver from the coastal city of Aromas was third the last time NARC was in Tulare during the Dennis Roth Classic last April. It is one of the few tracks on the schedule that Sanders has yet to win at with the tour, but that stat could easily change.

2021 and 2022 NARC champion Dominic Scelzi is excited to race with NARC for the first time in 2024. After spending the spring months on the East Coast and the Midwest, the Fresno wheelman has a trio of trips to the top of the Tulare podium, with his latest victory coming on May 13th, 2022, on the first night of the Peter Murphy Classic. Scelzi is the most recent victor of the Faria when he hit pay dirt in July of 2021.

Roseville runner Justyn Cox can’t wait to get back to the Thunderbowl. Last year, He captured the $18,383. payday at the Dennis Roth Classic for the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X team, his first career NARC triumph.

Several other Central Valley contenders are expected to be in the house. They include 2019 NARC champ D.J. Netto from Hanford, Lemoore’s Gauge Garcia returning behind the wheel of the Keller Motorsports #2K, Dominic Gorden of Clovis, and Tipton driver Dawson Faria. Netto won this event in 2015.

Other NARC 410 Series regulars in action will include Oakley pilot Dylan Bloomfield in the Vertullo #83V, Billy Aton from Benicia, Penngrove’s Chase Johnson, Chico pilot Michael Ing, and Jarrett Soares of Gilroy.

Also expected to be in action are Fremont’s Shane Golobic, Templeton native Kaleb Montgomery, and Ashlyn Rodriguez from Wilton.

1 MONTH ALERT: World of Outlaws Late Models Return to Elkin, NC For Doubleheader at Ultimate Motorsports Park

ELKIN, NC (April 29, 2024) – The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series will start a new Memorial Day weekend tradition with a doubleheader visit to Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park.

The doubleheader event, May 24-25, will be the Series’ first time back at the 4/10-mile track since 2015 – which is currently it’s lone race at the facility, won by North Carolina’s Chris Ferguson.

Along with the electric atmosphere of kicking off the Memorial Day weekend, the event also boasts a $35,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

Home state stars Nick Hoffman and Max McLaughlin – both from Mooresville, NC – will be poised to claim a win about an hour from home.

To do so, they’ll have to deal with four-time World of Outlaws champion Brandon Sheppard, defending Series champion Bobby Pierce, South Carolina’s Chris Madden and more.

The race will be the Series’ first stop in North Carolina this year before returning in November for the championship deciding World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

1 MONTH ALERT: World of Outlaws Set to Honor Rick Ferkel During Fremont Return on Memorial Day

FREMONT, OH (April 29, 2024) – Fremont Speedway will welcome back the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series on Memorial Day this year for a special night.

With the passing of Rick Ferkel, the “Ohio Traveler,” in January, the track and Series will honor the original Outlaw throughout the event, which is called the Rick Ferkel Tribute.

RELATED: Remembering Rick Ferkel

It’ll be the World of Outlaws’ first time back at the 1/3-mile Ohio track since 2016. In total, the Series has made eight trips to Fremont and only seen two repeat winners – Frankie Kerr (1991, 1992) and Donny Schatz (2013, 2014). Ohio’s Chad Kemenah won the last World of Outlaws race there.

The $12,000-to-win race will also be the final Ohio stop on the World of Outlaws’ spring swing before the Series ventures further north. With that, local Ohio competitors will be on a mission to try and top the stars of the Series on their home turf. However, of the Outlaws, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild will be just as hungry for a home state win.

Thornton Sweeps Mid-Atlantic Weekend with Port Royal Triumph

PORT ROYAL, PA (April 28, 2024) – Ricky Thornton Jr. swept the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Mid-Atlantic swing, winning on Friday night at Georgetown Speedway in Delaware and Sunday night at Pennsylvania’s Port Royal Speedway. Thornton led every lap of the Battle in the Borough to score his 33rd career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win. With the weekend sweep Thornton becomes the first driver to go over $100,000 in season earnings after picking up the $10,000 victory at Port Royal. It was not easy at Port Royal for Thornton as Mike Marlar stayed within striking distance throughout the race. Marlar ended up in the runner-up spot at the checkers; 1.538 seconds behind the winner. Garrett Alberson earned his second straight Big River Steel Podium finish by taking third. Jonathan Davenport and Devin Moran, who dropped back as far as 15th rallied to round out the top five. “I felt like my stuff was really good there,” said Thornton who was in Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the fifth time in 2024. “I was trying to play it a little in one and two, but I think I let Mikey get a little closer to me. Luckily the yellow came out because I think maybe he would have won. I have got to thank whoever brought out that yellow because it put me back out front. It was starting to get a little treacherous there up top, but I figured if you were going to win you had to be up there.” “I have a little bit of body damage. I had to settle back down a little bit after I saw Mikey there. You go so fast down the straightaways here it’s easy to overshoot the top and that will get you in trouble. I knew I had to calm down; like I know we have a good car, so I didn’t want to mess it up. For the most part most the traffic was patient, and they left me a lane around the top.” Marlar tried several times to pull even with Thornton in turns one and two but could never muster enough to clear him to officially lead a lap. “That’s just how it goes sometimes. Ricky should have won the race here last year, but broke. That’s part of the comings and goings in racing. I’m just glad we were able to race him good. We were horrendous on Friday night. We got rained out last night, so it feels good to head back to Tennessee on a good note. This track is unbelievable. You can race 10 different ways here into the corner. I felt like I drove the car good there and felt like I made good decisions. I got by him, but it didn’t work out.”  Alberson earned his third, third-place finish of the season – inching closer and closer to his first career series win. “Hats off to the track crew; that thing was really fun; you could move all over the place. I think we needed to stay green there because they [Thornton and Marlar] started dicing there in lapped traffic and I kind of had a lane that they weren’t running in. I think it could have gotten really good. I am just super stoked to drive this car and I love these big tracks.” The winner’s Todd and Vickie Burns, SSI Motorsports ,Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Big River Steel, Hoker Trucking, Coltman Farms, Dyno One Inc., West Side Tractor Sales, Bilstein Shocks, EMD Wraps, and Sunoco Race Fuels. The rest of the top ten finishers were Max Blair, Mason Zeigler, Jimmy Owens, Tyler Erb, and Carson Ferguson. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Race Summary Battle in the BoroughSunday, April 28, 2024Port Royal Speedway – Port Royal, PA

TOUGH FINAL ROUND PUTS DAMPER ON WEEKEND FOR JOHN FORCE IN CHARLOTTE NHRA 4-WIDE NATIONALS

Force was seeking second win of season and fourth win of his career in the Charlotte 4-Wide event
For Immediate Release
CONCORD, NC (April 28, 2024) – Hopes of a perfect weekend for John Force fell short in the final round of Sunday’s NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway.
One week before his 75th birthday, the ageless wonder recorded the quickest elapsed time of his career (3.820 seconds), which was also the 10th-quickest time in NHRA Funny Car history, during Friday night’s second round of qualifying. He then came back with two outstanding final qualifying runs on Saturday.
Force motored through Sunday’s first two rounds of quad eliminations, but a tough start at the starting line in the final round kept the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion from winning for the second time this season.
“It was a good week, it was good to take the track record,” Force said. “We were able to go rounds, but I couldn’t close it at the end.”
The most successful driver in NHRA history won the weather-rescheduled Winternationals final in Phoenix three weeks ago and had he won Sunday, it would have been for the 157th time of his career.
Force was looking to extend his personal record of three wins in the 4-Wide event in suburban Charlotte (he also has a win in the traditional two-lane race there in the fall).
Even though he came up short, the driver of the PEAK Antifreeze & Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car was still happy to reach the final round not only for his primary sponsor, but also for new associate sponsor HendrickCars.com, owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rick Hendrick.
Force’s daughter, two-time NHRA Top Fuel driver Brittany Force, carried the HendrickCars.com colors as primary sponsor on her dragster for the first time this weekend, while her father and teammate Austin Prock carried HendrickCars.com as associate sponsors on their respective Funny Cars.
“I’m excited to move forward with them,” Brittany Force said of the relationship with HendrickCars.com. “They seem very happy and excited on their end and we want to make them proud. We want to go rounds and we want to land them in the winner’s circle.
“We’re proud to be teamed up with them. Hendrick is such a huge name and a legend in motorsports and we’re glad to have them in the Top Fuel category.”
Just a few minutes before the final round of Funny Car, five-time Pro Stock champion Greg Anderson, who is also sponsored by HendrickCars.com, won for the 105th time of his career.
Here’s how Sunday’s three rounds played out for John Force:
·     Force and Cruz Pedregon got past Chad Green and John Smith in Sunday’s first round.
·     In the second round, Force and JR Todd defeated Alexis DeJoria and Pedregon in the semifinal matchup.
·     Then, in the 268th final round appearance of his storied career, Force finished fourth behind winner Matt Hagan, runner-up Dan Wilkerson and third-place finisher J.R. Todd.
Until the final round, Force dominated throughout the weekend, starting with the career-best run in Friday night’s second round of qualifying.
Force rolled through Saturday’s two final rounds of qualifying to remain the No. 1 qualifier for the 167th time of his career, and then was flawless in Sunday’s first two rounds of quad competition before the final round.
“I had the car to win with, in my opinion, and I just didn’t get the job done,” a disappointed Force said.
—————————-
In Top Fuel, after a strong first round quad run (3.734 seconds at 335.82 mph) moved her into the semifinals, Brittany Force was unable to advance to the final round.
The younger Force had the fastest speed of her semifinal quad (336.57 mph), but her elapsed time (3.729 seconds) fell a bit short, also hampered by a slow reaction time at the start of the run.
“I’m staying very positive,” Brittany Force said. “We had a good race day. We struggled during qualifying and we turned things around today.
“I’ve made a little bit of progress in reaction time. You could see it in qualifying and you saw it on race day. That last run (Round 2), it was a long tree and you’re waiting for three other people and it’s a long time to be sitting there staring at that Christmas tree and I double-stepped.
“I’m not holding my head about it. I know what I did wrong and I’m focusing on the improvement and not the negative, and I’m moving forward to Chicago (the next race) with that.”
Force leaves Charlotte ninth in the Top Fuel points standings. She had been hoping for a win to give HendrickCars.com a successful debut, but she feels that elusive victory is close.
“I honestly thought it was going to happen today,” Force said. “I feel like we’re definitely making a lot of big moves and moving in the right direction. I could taste the win today. I felt like we were going to get there, but unfortunately it was an early day for us.”
—————————-
Lastly, after two strong qualifying runs Saturday that put him in the No. 3 position in Funny Car to start Sunday’s eliminations, the third driver of the John Force Racing stable, Austin Prock, lost traction and was eliminated in his first-round quad with a run of 4.609 seconds at just 225.86 mph.
“This car really hasn’t struggled much at all this year,” Prock said. “We struggled on Friday and got it turned around on Saturday and made some really nice runs. Like my dad told me as a kid, you’re going to lose a lot more than you’re going to win.
“We haven’t lost much this year but it definitely stings, but we have 15 more shots at this year. We’re looking forward to Chicago. I think we’ll pick up right where we we’ve been and we’ll be just fine.
“Still a good outing for John Force Racing. We’ve got three really good JFR race cars right now and we’re going to be tough all year. We’ve been in the final round as a team every race this year so far, so it’s something to be proud about and we’ll chalk this one up and go to the next one.”
Even with the loss, Prock, the driver of the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, remains the points leader in Funny Car, holding a 17-point edge over Todd. John Force is fifth in the standings.
“I don’t think I’ve ever held the points lead this long, so that’s something to be proud about,” Prock said. “This team is just doing a great job. When we falter, we just come back and attack and everything seems to work out.
“You’re only as good as your last run and we go back and prove that. It’s been a great year. You can’t hang your head too hard going out first round. That’s drag racing, you never know what’s going to happen. Today wasn’t our day but maybe next race will.”

The NHRA now enjoys nearly three weeks off before the next event, the PEAK Nationals, May 17-19, at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.

Chevy Racing–John Force Racing Four Wide Advance

CHEVROLET IN NHRA
2024 NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS
zMAX DRAGWAY
CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA
TEAM CHEVY RACE ADVANCE | NOTES & QUOTES
APRIL 26-28, 2024

CHEVROLET AND JOHN FORCE RACING LOOKS TO REPEAT LAST YEAR’S DOUBLE-UP AT zMAX DRAGWAY FOR THIS WEEKEND’S NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

Notes:
Team Chevy next heads to the 2024 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway April 26-28, 2024.
Starting the season strong, the trio of John Force Racing drivers and teams look to this weekend’s NHRA Four-Wide Nationals to return to the Winner’s Circle, adding to Chevrolet’s 161 wins in Funny Car and 20 wins in Top Fuel.
Of note, John Force Racing will have a major partnership announcement tomorrow, Thursday, April 25, at 9 a.m. ET.
John Force Racing heads to zMAX Dragway this weekend looking to defend last year’s double-up by Austin Prock (Top Fuel) and Robert Hight (Funny Car).
John Force, driver of the PEAK Antifreeze and Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, enters Charlotte this weekend the winningest Four-Wide Funny Car driver at the track with four wins. Force defeated his daughter Ashley by .021-seconds in 2010 to claim the inaugural event victory. Force additionally won back-to-back in 2021 and 2022 where he also qualified No. 1 in both events.
Austin Prock, driver of the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, won last year’s Four-Wide event at Charlotte in Top Fuel, and enters Charlotte this weekend leading the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Funny Car points standings. Robert Hight, Prock’s teammate and who he is filling in for while sidelined for medical reasons in Funny Car, also won last year’s event in Funny Car while setting the track record later in the Fall.
Finishing runner-up at the Las Vegas Four-Wide event, Prock will also take part in this weekend’s Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. Bonus points and a cash prize are up for grabs in the unique race-within-a-race format.
Brittany Force, Team Chevy Top Fuel driver and two-time champion, enters Charlotte this weekend as one of only eight pro drivers to have won Four-Wide events at both The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.
Force became the first woman to win a Four-Wide event with her victory in 2016, and is pursuing her third championship in the car that set the current NHRA national elapsed time record of 3.623 seconds (Reading, 2019), and the current national speed record of 338.94 mph (Pomona, 2022).
Force, after finishing runner-up in Las Vegas, will also participate in the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge at Charlotte in Top Fuel this weekend.
Pro Stock saw Deric Kramer racing to victory for the Bowtie brand in 2023’s Four-Wide Nationals, after Matt Hartford qualified No. 1. Both look to either defend or capture the 2024 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals Wally trophy.

Quotes:
BRITTANY FORCE, DRIVER OF THE MONSTER ENERGY CHEVROLET TOP FUEL DRAGSTER:
“Our team is looking forward to Charlotte, the second Four-Wide of the season. We have had success in the past at zMAX (Dragway), and would love to get our first win of the season.”

AUSTIN PROCK, DRIVER OF THE CORNWELL TOOLS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FUNNY CAR:
“I think everybody will be a little bit better going into the Four-Wide, especially on the starting line just because they got all their tendencies out the way (last week at Las Vegas). In the first one (Four-Wide of the season), it always seems like everyone struggles a little bit more. But I’ve had personal success there (at Charlotte). This race car that I’m driving has had a lot of success there, so I’m looking forward to it. Last time in the spring last year, my Top Fuel dragster and this Funny Car right here doubled-up together. Maybe we can double up with Brittany (Force) this year. That’d be pretty special.”

Can the team continue its success?
“I believe so. I don’t see why not. This team is just honed in right now, and our package is working, so we’ve just got to keep making smart decisions. I’ve got to keep making smart decisions driving this thing and we’ll see where our cards fall. But like I’ve said all year, if everybody does their best over here, we’re going to be hard to beat every weekend.”

Has your success hit you yet?
“No, it still really hasn’t hit me. I’m living a fairy tale right now. I think it’s a good thing that it hasn’t hit me. I think we just need to keep our head down and keep focused and keep doing the job we’re doing because it’s been working. So don’t get too high, don’t get too low, but we’ve definitely got to celebrate the year we’ve had.”

JOHN FORCE, DRIVER OF THE PEAK ANTIFREEZE & COOLANT CHEVROLET CAMARO SS FUNNY CAR:
“Bruton Smith built the Four-Wides at Charlotte and at Vegas, and it has created a lot of excitement with the fans. It is tough on the crew chiefs and the drivers. There is a lot going on there when you talk about each lane having over 10,000 horsepower. That’s 40,000 horsepower, and I think that is more than an entire NASCAR field, but I love it.”

How to Watch:
The 2024 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals kick off Friday, April 26 at zMAX Dragway with qualifying airing Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. The NHRA Four-Wide Nationals Finals air at 6 p.m. ET, also on Sunday. All sessions from Charlotte air with NHRA on FOX on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). Coverage streams live throughout the weekend on NHRA.tv, and is available via AppleTV, Android TV, and Roku devices.

John Force earned the 156th national event win of his legendary career (Phoenix). Brittany Force has reached the semifinals twice and has qualified No. 1 once.
Here’s a breakdown of all three JFR drivers heading into this weekend’s action:
————————————-
AUSTIN PROCK: Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series Funny Car points leader Austin Prock won last year’s 4-Wide race at Charlotte in his Top Fuel dragster. This year, he’s switched to driving the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car in which Robert Hight won last spring’s 4-Wide race at Charlotte and set the zMAX Dragway elapsed time track record of 3.824 last fall (Sept. 23, 2023).
Prock owns the second quickest Funny Car time posted since the 2017 season, a 3.820 second qualifying run in the season-opening Amalie Gatornationals. He has been a finalist in three of four races since moving from Top Fuel to Funny Car to race with his dad and his brother Thomas in the newly-rechristened “Prock Rocket” previously driven to three championships by Hight.
With his runner-up finish in the 4-Wide race in Las Vegas nearly two weeks ago, Prock will once again take part in the Funny Car segment of this weekend’s Mission #2Fast2Tasty race-within-a-race, with both rounds to be held Saturday. When asked if he can continue his success, Prock said, “I believe so. I don’t see why not. You know, this team is just honed in right now, and our package is working. So we’ve just got to keep making smart decisions. And I’ve got to keep making smart decisions driving this thing and we’ll see where our cards fall. But like I’ve said all year, if everybody does their best over here, we’re going to be hard to beat every weekend.”
After his runner-up finish in the Las Vegas 4-Wide race, Prock and his team are ready to finish what they started there with another win.
“I think everybody will be a little bit better going into the 4-Wide, especially on the starting line, just because they got all their tendencies out the way,” Prock said. “In the first (4-Wide), it always seems like everyone struggles a little bit more.
“But I’ve had personal success there (at Charlotte). And this race car that I’m driving has had a lot of success there. So I’m looking forward to it. Last time in the spring last year, my Top Fuel dragster and this Funny Car (with Hight driving) doubled up with wins together. So maybe we can double up with Brittany this year. That’d be pretty special.”
————————————-
JOHN FORCE:
John is the winningest Funny Car driver in the 4-Wide races at Charlotte with three victories. Only Steve Torrence has more wins (4), and those are in Top Fuel.
Force won the inaugural 4-Wide event in Charlotte in 2010 (beating daughter Ashley to the finish by .021 of a second for his 128th tour victory), and then followed up with back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022, qualifying No. 1 on both occasions.
He also was runner-up in 2014 and 2018. One of the most proficient 4-Wide racers, Force has won 17 quads in his career, second only to Matt Hagan (18) among Funny Car drivers.
Overall, John has won four times at zMAX Dragway, his lone win in the Carolina Nationals (fall race) coming in 2016. He has won an NHRA tour event in 35 different seasons and, except for a season abandoned after two races in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has finished in the Top 10 36 straight times.
“(Late Speedway Motorsports Inc. founder) Bruton Smith built the 4-Wides at Charlotte and at Vegas and it has created a lot of excitement with the fans,” said Force, driver of the PEAK Antifreeze & Coolant Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car. “It is tough on the crew chiefs and the drivers.
“There is a lot going on there when you talk about each lane having over 10,000 horsepower. That’s 40,000 horsepower, and I think that is more than an entire NASCAR field. But I love it.”
 ————————————-
BRITTANY FORCE:
Brittany Force is one of only eight pro drivers to have won 4-Wide races at both Las Vegas and Charlotte. The only other Top Fuel drivers to have accomplished that feat are Steve Torrence and Antron Brown.
When she won at Charlotte on April 24, 2016, Brittany became the first woman to win a 4-Wide race. She is pursuing her third Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series championship in the last eight years in a car that set the current NHRA national elapsed time record of 3.623 seconds (Aug. 31, 2019 at Reading, Pa.) and the current national speed record of 338.94 mph (Nov.11, 2022 at Pomona, Calif.).
Brittany is the track record holder for either elapsed time or speed at 12 of the tracks that currently host Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series events.
Speaking of Mission Foods, Brittany Force will again take part in the Top Fuel segment of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty race-within-a-race, with both rounds to be held Saturday.
“Our team is looking forward to Charlotte, the second 4-Wide of the season,” Brittany Force said. “We have had success in the past at zMAX and would love to get our first win of the season there.”

wHAT TO WATCH FOR: World of Outlaws to Contend For $15K Paydays at Arrowhead Debut, 81 Return

Brandon Sheppard continues to lead the championship chase into the doubleheader weekend

CONCORD, NC (April 23, 2024) – The World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Models are headed westbound and down for a pair of unpredictable and exciting tracks.

Colcord, OK is the site of Arrowhead Speedway – making its debut with the Late Models for a Friday night battle under the lights in the Fujita 50 on April 26. Then, the Series makes the trek to Wichita, KS for the sight of racing from 81 Speedway on Saturday, April 27.

Both races boast a $15,000 payday.

If you can’t make it to the tracks, you can watch every World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model race live on DIRTVision.

Here are the storylines to look out for:

Locked In Shepp – Brandon Sheppard has visited Victory Lane with the World of Outlaws CASE Late Models at 81 Speedway twice in 2022 and 2017. He was also the last Series winner in Oklahoma in 2017.

After weeks of being disappointed with his qualifying efforts, Sheppard is coming off a strong couple of days in Alabama after scoring the Simpson Quick Time Award on Saturday at the Talladega Short Track.

The New Berlin, IL driver will be poised to repeat that effort again this weekend as he still chases his first win of the season with the World of Outlaws.

Mad Max’s Mojo – On Friday night, MD3 Rookie of the Year contender Max McLaughlin picked up his maiden World of Outlaws CASE Late Models win at the Talladega Short Track in just his fifth start with the Series during a preliminary Feature.

It was no easy task either for the Mooresville, NC driver, having to pass Newport, TN’s Jimmy Owens, then holding off Martinsville, IN driver Ricky Thornton Jr. to pick up his first win in the rain-shortened Feature.

While the prelim Feature does not officially count as an official Feature victory, “Mad Max’s” added boost of confidence will have him hungry to find Victory Lane again this weekend for a true Feature win.

Erb’s 81 Fun – 2022 World of Outlaws CASE Late Models champion Dennis Erb Jr. won the first point-paying Series race at 81 Speedway last year, out dueling Nick Hoffman to score his 14th career triumph.

Erb has liked the Kansas facility, giving him room to work around multiple grooves to challenge and find speed to win a race.

With the new adjustments in Fox Shocks giving the Carpentersville, IL’s #28 machine a better start than last season, he and crew chief Heather Lyne look forward to chasing a back-to-back feat on Saturday night.

Oklahoma! – The World of Outlaws Late Models return to Oklahoma for the first time in seven years on Friday – this time for their debut at Colcord, OK’s Arrowhead Speedway.

The only driver in the Series to have won at the facility is Marshalltown, IA driver Ryan Gustin on July 6, 2013.

The state-of-the-art 3/8-mile facility has garnered the interest of drivers and fans alike as the first Super Late Model race awaits drivers with 50 laps and a $15,000 check.
When the World of Outlaws last visited Oklahoma, Brandon Sheppard picked up the victory at Salina Highbanks Speedway in 2017.

WATCH LIVE ON DIRTVisionLet’s look at the weekend’s top storylines:TOP FIVE IS TIGHT: The 2024 World of Outlaws championship battle appears primed to stay tight all the way to Charlotte, NC when #AllDirtRoads lead to the World Finals. The top five tightened this past weekend, and only 68 points separate the leading five drivers.David Gravel continues to lead the way despite a crash at Paducah cutting into his advantage. He’s been the most consistent driver in 2024 behind the wheel of the Big Game Motorsports #2 having already bagged eight podiums and 12 top fives through 15 races.Donny Schatz sits second – 34 markers behind Gravel – amid his pursuit of an 11th championship. With only two finishes outside the top 10 so far this season, it’s the most consistent he and the Tony Stewart/Curb Agajanian Racing team have looked in recent years.Giovanni Scelzi holds down the third spot after leading the points earlier in the season. A DNF at 81 Speedway to conclude March put an end to his perfect stretch of top 10s, but Scelzi and KCP Racing have since rebounded with six straight finishes of ninth or better.Logan Schuchart and Shark Racing have been quietly consistent all season, leading them to the fourth spot only 12 points behind Scelzi. The Hanover, PA driver owns a 6.8 average finish this year and hasn’t finished worse than 12th.Carson Macedo completes the current top five, four markers behind Schuchart. The Jason Johnson Racing #41 continues to shake off a forgettable start at the 2024 DIRTcar Nationals. In the 11 races since the season opening event, Macedo hasn’t missed the top 10 and owns a 4.45 average finish.SCHATZVILLE: It’s impossible to head to Knoxville without viewing Donny Schatz’s mind-blowing résumé on the Marion County Fairgrounds that he’ll look to add to this weekend. His Knoxville Nationals success is well documented with 11 triumphs in the sport’s most prestigious race, one away from Steve Kinser’s record of 12. He’s also been on the podium a whopping 20 times in “The Granddaddy of ‘Em All.”But the Knoxville success isn’t limited to the Nationals for Schatz. The 10-time Series champion has topped 11 World of Outlaws Features at the Iowa oval in months not named August. He’s the second most recent April winner with the Series, topping a spring visit back in 2007. The Fargo, ND native has also won in May, June, and October at Knoxville.ROOKIES IN RHYTHM: Michael “Buddy” Kofoid and Bill Balog are separated by 22 years of age, but they’re united in being rookies on the World of Outlaws tour. And lately they’ve been united in being two of the fastest cars on track.Kofoid is one of, if not the hottest drivers among the World of Outlaws roster at the moment. He’s reeled off four consecutive podiums and 10 consecutive top 10s aboard the Roth Motorsports #83. The Penngrove, CA driver has qualified for the finale in both of his Knoxville Nationals attempts, picking up Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 before grabbing a top 10 last year. He nearly won at the half mile last year, finishing second with the All-Star Circuit of Champions.Balog has logged four consecutive finishes of sixth or better including a runner-up at Paducah, his first Series podium since 2019. The “North Pole Nightmare” has plenty of Knoxville experience with tastes of success here and there. He’s been in the top 10 in multiple Knoxville Nationals prelims. The chase for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year currently sees Kofoid holding a 102-point advantage over Balog heading into Knoxville.APRIL ABSENCE: This weekend is set to end a 12-year drought of April World of Outlaws action in Knoxville. But before this recent absence the half mile was a common stop of the tour in the spring. The World of Outlaws have contested 43 Knoxville Features in the month of April. The first was April 21, 1979 and topped by Sammy Swindell. The Germantown, TN legend also claimed the most recent on April 28, 2012. Swindell has won the most in April with 13 checkered flags. The only driver that will be in the pit area this weekend with an April World of Outlaws win on the black zook clay is Donny Schatz. This weekend will reignite the tradition of the country’s greatest Sprint Car drivers visiting the Marion County Fairgrounds in the spring.KNOXVILLE KNOWLEDGE: Knoxville has always offered some of the toughest local competition in the country for the World of Outlaws to face and expect this weekend to be no different.Brian Brown headlines the crop of Knoxville regulars. “Blackjack’s” 65 overall Knoxville victories rank second behind only the legendary Danny Lasoski. Among those wins are a trio with The Greatest Show on Dirt including one last June.Two-time and defending Knoxville track champion – Austin McCarl – will be in the hunt to secure his first World of Outlaws win at his home track. The Altoona, IA native is a former Knoxville Nationals pole sitter (2022), and last year he sat on the pole of night one of the Premier Chevy Dealers Clash before earning his third career World of Outlaws top five.Plenty of more local talents are likely to join the field this weekend including Knoxville’s own Riley Goodno, Tasker Phillips (Pleasantville, IA), McKenna Haase (Des Moines, IA), Chris Martin (Ankeny, IA), Cole Mincer (Burlington, IA), and more.THIS WEEKEND AT A GLANCEWHEN AND WHERE Friday-Saturday, April 26-27 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IAON THE INTERNETWorld of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series

Josh Hart Looking for Continued Success at Charlotte Four-Wides

OCALA, FL (April 23, 2024) — The second four-wide national event of the 2024 NHRA Mission Food Drag Racing Series will take place this weekend at the Bellagio of Drag Strips, zMAX Dragway, when the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals begins with two rounds of qualifying on Friday. Josh Hart and the TechNet/R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster team will be looking to keep their final quad streak alive and focus on grabbing one more win light. Since Hart began racing at the unique four-wide format in 2021 he had qualified in the top half of the field and raced to the final quad three years in a row.

“We have done well at the Charlotte Four-Wide Nationals and this year I feel good heading into the race,” said Hart, who will be flying the red, white and blue of TechNet this weekend. “We made some progress in Las Vegas and I think we can carry that over to zMAX Dragway. There are a ton of motorsports fans in the Charlotte area and I love it when new fans come to the ropes and get to see our TechNet/R+L Carriers Top Fuel dragster up close.”
Hart is also looking to join a short list of Charlotte winners who have won in the fall at the Countdown national event and at the spring four-wide nationals. Only three Top Fuel drivers have accomplished this feat and Hart would like to join Antron Brown, Steve Torrence and Cory McClenathan. Hart won the Carolina Nationals fall race during his rookie season in 2021.

“It would be cool to join that list of Top Fuel drivers to have won in both the spring and fall at zMAX Dragway but really I just want to get back into the winner’s circle,” said Hart. “This team is too good to not have more wins. It is tough out here for sure, but we are working to put ourselves in a position to hopefully go on a run starting in Charlotte. We have a tune up that can run with anyone and if I do my job on the starting line, we can win some races.”

Hart’s skill on the starting line when it comes to reaction time has been making major positive strides in the past two seasons. The fourth-year pro is currently the second quickest “leaver” (quickest reaction time) behind Justin Ashley and just in front of Brown, Shawn Langdon and Top Fuel rookie Tony Stewart.

“I have been working really hard on improving my reaction times the past two season,” said Hart, who regularly collects wins throughout the season on hole shots. “These race cars are so close on the performance side it comes down to the drivers in a lot of situations which I love. You have to really focus and block out all the distractions. Four-wide racing adds another element to the equation with the addition of more cars. It makes it challenging and fun.”

The past three years in Charlotte have seen Hart and the TechNet/R+L Carriers Top Fuel team qualify No. 4, No. 6, and No. 5 on the all-concrete track. Overall, in his six previous appearances he has never qualified in the bottom half of the field. Successful starting positions have been a key to race day win lights in Hart’s opinion.
“We you can start in the top half of the field that is a good indication that your race weekend has been consistent every day for the most part,” said Hart. “We want to come off the trailer on Friday and make two good runs that get us in the top half of the field. That gives my crew chief Ron Douglas some freedom to get aggressive on Saturday and fine tune a set up for race day. We only have three rounds of racing at four-wide races and I think that adds to the excitement.”

The R+L Carriers team raced into the second quad two weeks ago at the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals and for their effort they will be racing the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Four-Wide specialty race during Saturday’s qualifying sessions. The race will be a repeat of the second quad race from Las Vegas with $10,000 and three championship bonus points on the line for Hart and the rest of the Top Fuel competitors.

Progressive AFT’s Stars to Shine Big and Bright at Mission Texas Half-Mile

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 23, 2024) – Progressive American Flat Track, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, returns to action this weekend with the Mission Texas Half-Mile presented by Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda and Roof Systems of Dallas at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, on Saturday, April 27. The series’ stop in Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the most significant annually due to its immediate proximity to the home bases of several of Progressive AFT’s partners and teams, including Mission FoodsRoof Systems of Dallas, TX, and Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda. That naturally celebratory atmosphere will be elevated into another stratosphere in 2024, as the round will take place alongside the Goodguys 14th LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals presented by TREMEC, which will feature over 2500 classic vehicles among numerous other attractions, at the sprawling Texas Motor Speedway. Reigning Grand National Champion Jared Mees (No. 1 Rogers Racing/SDI Racing/Indian Motorcycle FTR750) comes into this weekend’s high-profile Mission SuperTwins showdown with a great deal going in his fashion. Not only is Mees’ the sport’s all-time winningest rider in the Half-Mile discipline with a remarkable 37 such victories to his name, he’s also triumphed in the series’ most recent three stops at Texas Motor Speedway (2018, 2019, 2022), its most recent Half-Mile (Black Hills HM, ‘23), and its most recent race full-stop (Senoia ST). However, he also returns to Texas looking up at two rivals in the early 2024 point standings. Chief rival Dallas Daniels (No. 32 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT), who is determined to rip the torch free from Mee’s throttle hand if necessary, currently leads the way on the strength of finishes of first, second, and third in the season’s opening three races. And slotted in between Daniels and Mees is the on-form Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750), who would like nothing more than to move into the points lead with a win at his team’s home race this weekend. Several other riders will be in contention for the win as well, headlined by two-time premier-class champion Briar Bauman (No. 3 Rick Ware Racing/KTM/Parts Plus KTM 790 Duke) and joined by fellow Mission SuperTwins race winners Davis Fisher (No. 67 Rackley Racing/Bob Lanphere’s BMC Racing Indian FTR750), Jarod Vanderkooi (No. 20 JMC Motorsports/Fairway Ford Ohio Indian FTR750), Johnny Lewis (No. 10 Moto Anatomy X Powered by Royal Enfield 650), and Bronson Bauman (No. 37 Fastrack Racing Mission Foods KTM 790 Duke). Others to keep close tabs on include fourth-ranked Brandon Price (No. 92 Memphis Shades/Corbin/OTBR Yamaha MT-07), the Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda duo of Dan Bromley (No. 62 Big Red Super Twins/Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda Transalp) and Morgen Mischler (No. 13 Big Red Super Twins/Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda Transalp), and highly rated rookies Trevor Brunner (No. 21 Mission Foods/Zanotti Racing KTM 790 Duke) and Max Whale (No. 18 Latus Motors Racing/Liqui Moly Harley-Davidson XG750R). Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER The early ‘24 Parts Unlimited AFT Singles presented by KICKER title fight has taken on pretty much the same shape as the previous two. Following three rounds, double defending champion Kody Kopp (No. 1 Rick Ware Racing/Parts Plus KTM 450 SX-F) is firmly in control and well on his way to ending this season’s campaign as the undisputed most decorated rider in class history. And that means the remainder of a talent-laden field must rise up and meet Kopp’s challenge or risk serving as a backdrop to history. An elite handful of riders in the pack have proven they have the skills to go bar-to-bar with Kopp on any given night. It’s just a matter of doing so as consistently as the Rick Ware Racing ace. Second-ranked Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 D&D Racing/Certified KTM 450 SX-F) has the tools to do so as evidenced by the Parts Unlimited AFT Singles class crown included on his lengthy résumé. And third-ranked Tom Drane (No. 59 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) showed himself to be equal to the task during a torrid second-half run in 2023. Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R) was victorious in Texas a year ago, albeit at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. But no 450 rider has been as successful at Texas Motor Speedway as Shayna Texter-Bauman (No. 52 Rick Ware Racing/Parts Plus KTM 450 SX-F), who boasts wins at the track in 2017 and 2019 among her category-leading tally. Others would likely be content to first finish atop the box this weekend and go from there, a list of pilots that starts with Chase Saathoff (No. 88 JPG Motorsports Honda CRF450R), who still seeks a maiden victory despite logging numerous podiums and battling up front on a week-in, week-out basis, and includes the likes of James Ott (No. 19 1st Impressions Race Team Husqvarna FC450) and, Aiden RoosEvans (No. 26 FRA Trust/ATV’s and More Yamaha YZ450F). Fan activities will get underway on Friday, April 26, with Al Lamb’s Dallas Honda Pre-Party where fans, riders, and team crew can get together at the dealership from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. local time to enjoy food, fun, and a storewide sale. There will be plenty to keep spectators entertained at the event on Saturday off the track as well, including numerous vendors, plenty of food and beverage options, live music courtesy of Texas-based rock & roll/dance party band Time Thief, face painting and character drawings for kids, extensive motorcycle parking, and a fireworks display at the end of the evening. A special Goodguys General Admission Combo ticket is available HERE for just $55 (kids 12 and under $13), which includes Saturday admission to the Goodguys 14th LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals and General Admission to the Mission Texas Half Mile that evening. Standalone General Admission Grandstand tickets can be purchased for $35 (kids 12 and under $5), while Reserved Grandstand tickets are $45 (all ages). The Pit Pass Upgrade can be added to either option. A climate-controlled experience including Pit Pass access is available either through individual Indoor Suite tickets ($150) or by reserving a Private Indoor Suite ($2000) that can accommodate up to twenty people. New for 2024 is the Opening Ceremonies Trackside Fan Experience ($150 all ages). This ticket option provides reserved seating with Pit Pass access, a guided tour of, and photo opportunities at, the infield podium and start/finish line, infield viewing of Opening Ceremonies and the heat races, and a track talk and photo opportunity with 2016 Grand National Champion Bryan Smith. Visit https://www.tixr.com/groups/americanflattrack/events/texas-half-mile-86387 to reserve your seats today. Gates will open for fans at 4:00 p.m. ET (1:00 p.m. PT) with Opening Ceremonies scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT). cruz pedregon–charlotte advance

Cruz Pedregon

NHRA Four-Wide Nationals – Charlotte

Pre-Race Report

News of note:

·       Cruz had a dominating performance that resulted in a Charlotte four-wide win in 2018 when he passed the legendary Don Prudhomme for fifth-place all-time wins in his 36th Funny Car victory.

Quotes for the upcoming Charlotte Four-Wide race–

Cruz Pedregon, two-time Funny Car World Champion

We made a test run Monday in Las Vegas after the race. With that run, we learned what we needed to learn and we’re ready to go to Charlotte. The car ran a 3.98 which was in line with what all the top cars were running last weekend. We made adjustments to the clutch, and the car made a flawless run. We’re looking ahead now and are ready to go for Charlotte. We’re working toward consistency, which is why we tested after Vegas to prepare for Charlotte.

Overall, I feel good about the direction of the team, headed up by Jason (Bunker, Crew Chief) and Johnny (West, Assistant Crew Chief). We’ve got a great team with eager young guys who are ready to win. We’ve qualified in the top half three of four events so far this year which shows we’re connecting and making improvements as a team.
