LAS VEGAS (April 7, 2018) — Courtney Force and the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car team will head into race day as the No. 1 qualifiers at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas. Her sister and reigning Top Fuel World Champion, Brittany Force is qualified third in Top Fuel. Two-time defending Funny Car champion Robert Hight is fifth and 16-time champion John Force is in the 11th spot.

Courtney Force stole the No. 1 qualifier on her final pass of the last qualifying session with a 3.927-second pass at 326.40 mph. This is her second consecutive No. 1 qualifier at the spring event at The Strip, her second No. 1 of the season and the 19th of her career. Menard Set to Start 19thAt Texas After Lightning Cuts Qualifying Short

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Quick Lane team were poised for a strong qualifying performance at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon when Mother Nature cut the qualifying session short and left Menard and the team with the 19th-place starting spot for Sunday’s 500-miler.

Menard was 17thfastest in the opening practice session with a best lap at 193.750 miles per hour and then posted a lap at 194.426 mph in his first run against the clock in what was scheduled to be three rounds of knockout qualifying.

AVONDALE, Ariz. (April 6, 2018) – Sebastien Bourdais, winner of last month’s season-opening Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, sped to the pole in Verizon IndyCar Series qualifying Friday at ISM Raceway in preparation for Saturday night’s Desert Diamond Phoenix Grand Prix.

The final driver in the 23-car field to make a qualifying run, Bourdais edged Simon Pagenaud to claim his 34th career pole, his first on an oval track since Milwaukee in 2006 and the first oval pole for his Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan effort.

Alexander Rossi took his Andretti Autosport Honda to fourth in today’s single-car qualifying, with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammates James Hinchcliffe and Robert Wickens lining up fifth and sixth, respectively. Ryan Hunter-Reay will start eighth for Honda and Andretti Autosport, with rookie Pietro Fittipaldi making his IndyCar debut tomorrow night from 10th in the field.

Television coverage of Saturday night’s 250-lap race, the first oval event of 2018, starts at 9 p.m. EDT on the NBC Sports Network.

Sebastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan Honda) pole qualifier, 34th career IndyCar pole: “Qualifying [on the pole] was pretty big, knowing what [time] I had to go and get. I knew it was going to take it flat in [Turns] 3 and 4, and I wasn’t quite sure about [Turns] 1 and 2, how much I needed to dig, but the car was really solid. It’s high tension, high pressure. You don’t breathe very much, you just are really listening to the car, trying to make sure you don’t overdo it.”

Simon Pagenaud Puts Chevrolet V6 Power on Front Row at ISM Raceway

AVONDALE, ARIZ (APRIL 6, 2018) – Simon Pagenaud came within eight one-hundredths of a second of starting tomorrow night’s race where he ended the ISM Raceway event in 2017 – first. But the driver of the No. 22 Menards Team Penske Chevrolet had to settle for the second starting position for the Desert Diamond West Valley Casino Phoenix Grand Prix at the Avondale, Arizona facility.

With a two-lap qualifying average speed of 188.148 mps with a total time of 39.1096 seconds, the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series (VICS) champion held the top-spot on the leaderboard until the final competitor took to the track to qualify. Sebastien Bourdais grabbed the top spot with Pagenaud in second and teammate Will Power, No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, in the third qualifying position. ERIE, MI (April 5, 2018) – Engine Pro Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP has released the all five dates for the much-anticipated 2018 MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge.

The BLC, known as the Short Track Challenge before 2016, is the granddaddy of SOD mini-series and a fan favorite since its inception. Drivers compete in a challenging mini-championship with its own point fund.

The 2018 MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge dates are:
Saturday, April 28 – The SOD season opener also kicks off the 2018 BLC at Crystal Motor Speedway.
Friday, June 22 – SOD returns to Tri-City Motor Speedway for the first time since 2015 to kick off the 2018 BLC.
Saturday, July 14 – The BLC returns to Crystal Motor Speedway for round 3.
Saturday, August 25 – Things get serious in the BLC points battle as the series heads to Merritt Speedway for the 4th race.

5 Teams Qualify at Tarrant County College

-The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge’s fourth event of the season was held at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, TX. March 24th.

A total of seven schools from Texas and Oklahoma fielding nine teams competed, with Five teams making the cut and will have a chance to win thousands of dollars in College scholarships at the 2018 Dual National Championship Playoffs coming up in November and December at the SEMA Show and PRI show respectively.

To qualify for the Dual National Championship, a team must finish disassembling and reassembling a small-block Chevrolet engine in less than 33 minutes, including penalties.

In first place was team Custom Automotive Network (CAN), Eastern Oklahoma County Tech Center from Choctaw, OK with the blistering time of 19:36.

Hereford High School out of Hereford, TX had two teams participate and both qualified. In second place came team Proform, with the time of 27:40 and fourth place Team Vibrant Performance with 30:46.

The third-place team was Comp Cams, Pontotoc Tech Center from Ada, TX with a 29:14 time.

Image may contain: 1 person, outdoorThe Fifth-place qualifier was a first-time participant, Team PRW, J. W. Nixon High School from Laredo, TX. With the time of 32:05. Abel Sanchez the instructor said “This is a great program that is really going to benefit my students. One of my students is a senior and going to attend UTI and the scholarship is really going to help him out. The team comes from a low social economic background and the HROT program will benefit students for years to come.”

Menard Ready To Take On Tricky Texas Track

When Paul Menard hits the track at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend he’ll be venturing into relatively uncharted territory.

For starters, the veteran driver of the No. 21 Quick Lane Ford Fusion hasn’t raced at the Fort Worth track in a Ford in several seasons. And like his fellow drivers he’ll be racing on an evolving track surface as this weekend’s Monster Energy Cup race is just the third on the track since it was repaved before last year’s races at the Fort Worth quad-oval track.

“There will be a lot of unknowns,” Menard said. “The repave of the track changed it a lot.

“The first race it was single groove and if you got out of the groove there was not a lot of leeway. It was treacherous. It was a lot better last fall, and I anticipate it being better this time.
