KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 4 JIMMY JOHN’S CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 2nd
IT SEEMED LIKE THE LAST 150 LAPS YOUR CAR REALLY CAME TO LIFE, WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE?
“Yeah, we struggled tonight. Our Jimmy John’s Chevrolet was not very good in the first; I would say 450 miles of this particular race. Rodney (Childers, crew chief) and everybody on our team did a great job to do whatever they did with the air pressure and just told me it was a really big adjustment. The last couple of runs I got tight. The one run when we had the first air pressure adjustment we were really good. The last two runs I was a little bit tighter once I got up behind those guys, right behind them, I just couldn’t go anywhere. Just really proud of the effort to turn the car around. We had a 10th place car and they turned it into a car capable of racing for the win. That is pretty awesome.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Coca Cola 600

JOSEF NEWGARDEN, NO. 21 PREFERRED FREEZER ED CARPENTER RACING CHEVROLET, FINISHED 3RD: WHAT WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND AS A GROUP IN WHETHER TO GO FOR IT OR SAVE FUEL? “Yeah it was a tough day. I think we were trying to trim out towards the end to see if we could win the thing. I really think we had a shot. First and foremost I am just thankful to my team owner and all the other owners and everyone at ECR that puts me in a car. We have amazing supporters in Fuzzy’s Vodka and Preferred Freezer and I think we had a car that could win today and J.R. did too, it just didn’t fall our way. Ed would have been there with us I think. It’s a tough pill to swallow but I just want to thank everyone who is here today to support us. It is a big deal to be here but we just didn’t have enough at the end, tried to trim like I said, but it just didn’t fall our way with all the fuel.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Driver Quotes

TEAM CHEVY Q&A
MAY 27, 2016
PAT SUHY, CHEVROLET RACING NASCAR GROUP MANAGER, ANSWERS QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NEW RULES CHANGES IN THE NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES:

HOW DID THE NEW TWEAKS TO THE RULES PACKAGE COME ABOUT?
“I really think it started in discussions between the teams and NASCAR about where the teams are spending their resources; and wondering if this is really an area they want to race in? NASCAR knows that over time, teams have gained aero performance, whether it’s increased downforce or reduced drag, as they spend more and more time in the Wind Tunnel and as they have worked on the tires to have more grip and more give-up. Gaining back more of the downforce they lost by whatever means, jeopardizes all the work that has been done and fans could see racing return to what it was like last year. I think as a problem to solve it was the question of, ‘Well, where are you guys gaining downforce? How come the cars have all this skew in them?’ Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Charlotte–Pat Suhy

ARE YOU GETTING ANTSY TO GET OUT THERE AND DO IT? “Excited to get out there; this is always the hardest week because you just talk about what you hope to do and how the race may play out. I just can’t wait to get gloves and helmet on Sunday and get in that car and hopefully have the speed to have a shot at the victory. IT’S BEEN SAID THAT CARS WITH DOME SKIDS ARE A LITTLE HARDER TO HANDLE, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT AND HAVE YOU HAD THOSE ISSUES? “It’s not designed to make the cars easier or worse to drive. They are there to keep the cars from flying so I am not sure why we are talking about it. But to be quite honest it pisses me off because that has been the lead-up to the event and the greatest race that we have had in 100 years. It’s a shame. It’s sad. To me it’s who gives a damn about the dome skids. They don’t even need to know about it. The car is the way it is, we are going to put on a great show, and that is all people need to know about it. Honestly I am pissed at the media in general for making a mess of it and for some drivers to make such a big deal about it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Sebastien Bourdais

BUDDY LAZIER, NO. 4 LAZIER/BURNS RACING CHEVROLET, LAZIER/BURNS RACING (qualified 32nd; 1996 Indy 500 winner):

TALK ABOUT YOUR HISTORY HERE. “Two times we’ve had the race won and we had a little issue. In 2000 with Juan (Montoya) we were fast and we were quicker than he was. We had our car a little better on raceday, and we were getting killed every time we went in for fuel. We took fuel twice as many times as he did. We just missed that year – strategy and otherwise. We very easily could have won it. A couple of years later, we had the race won and our last set of tires we had no stagger. So these second-place finishes haunt you. When you win a race, you put it on a shelf. And this is such a special race to win. There have been probably four or five other times where we were a hair away from winning.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–INDYCAR–Media Day
