TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE TEAMS MINDSET AND GOAL TO POTENTIALLY WIN ALL THREE WEST COAST RACES:
“I think our mindset right now is to keep doing the same things that we have been doing. Monday morning it was time to prepare for Auto Club Speedway. I know everybody kind of wants to redeem themselves after last year. We ran really well and had two or three flat tires and things didn’t finish well. But it was a great performance for us all in all. Hopefully, this year we can continue to do the things that we are doing. Valerie Thompson seeks to break personal best top speed of 217 mph at Texas Mile Speed Festival

7-time land speed record holder and Texas Mile 200 MPH Club member hoping to set new personal best top speed with Quicksilver Powersports Lubricants sponsorship

(Scottsdale, AZ) – March 20, 2015 – Valerie Thompson, seven-time land speed record holder and one of the world’s fastest BMW racers, will return to Beeville Texas for the Texas Mile, March 27-29. She will attempt to break her personal best top speed of 217 mph (350.53 KM/H) set during the October 2014 event on her record-setting BMW S 1000 RR.

The Texas Mile is a premier bi-annual motorsports festival of speed and land speed racing venue that draws motorsports competitors from all corners of North America in much the same way the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats draws the world’s fastest vehicles and drivers.

Thompson will kick off her 2015 land speed racing campaign with two BMW Motorrad dealership appearances to promote the Texas Mile and increase foot traffic for these valued dealers. Thompson, her record setting Quicksilver Powersports Lubricants BMW S 1000 RR and new pit display will be available for photos. Dealership appearances include:

· BMW Motorcycles of El Paso – El Paso, TX (March 25, 2015)

“I love racing at the Texas Mile and I’m anxious to kick off another record breaking season of racing with our new sponsor, Quicksilver Powersports Lubricants and returning sponsor CTEK. I set a new personal best top speed at the last event here in October with an awesome tune-up by Kerry Alter. With all the improvements we made in the off-season to our BMW, I’m optimistic about our performance this year,” said Thompson.

The VTR team will provide free battery charging services, compliments of CTEK Battery Chargers, and Knockout Energy Drinks for competitors and race attendees during the three-day speed event.

West Coast swing underway

A quick recap this week, the teams are still in California and only had a two-night show at Thunderbowl Speedway in Tulare, CA last Friday and Saturday.

Night one kicked off with Brad Sweet setting fast time while setting a new track record. The feature was a wild one however, and both Kasey Kahne Racing teams were running in the top five when both the No. 9 and No. 49 were caught up in two separate incidences.

The teams worked hard the next morning to get the cars repaired and ready for night two, where both teams bounced back with Brad finishing third and Daryn eighth.

Jason Line, driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, had one of the meanest Pro Stockers on the property and clocked low e.t. in two of the four rounds on raceday en route to the final. In the other lane was Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson, who earned his 75th national event win in a thrilling and close race that was the 23rd Team Summit final in the history of the team. TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE OPENING TO THE SEASON AND YOUR OUTLOOK ON TODAY’S RACE:

TRUEX, JR.: “It’s been a good start to the year, a pleasant surprise. I think that it all goes back to a great plan going into the off season. All the guys on the team Joe (Garone, General Manager), Barney (Visser, Team Owner), Cole (Pearn, crew chief) having a good plan and executing throughout the off season. The cars have been running good. The team has been making good decisions. The team hasn’t been making mistakes. Reliability has been there, so everything we have needed to work on and wanted to get better at has been there. Now it’s just a matter of how much better can we get. What are the things we need to work on to improve our performance even more? So far everything has gone well. I’ve got a good car here for today. I felt like yesterday after practice we were probably a top five car. If we make the right adjustments we can possibly be better than that. If we don’t, we could possibly be a little worse. “They saw something they didn’t like. What has been awesome about this whole ECR package is this is the first time I’ve has something like this happen in over a year. The guys are working hard. They will fix it. More importantly we have just got to make the Kingsford Chevy better. We are not very good right now.”

DID YOU HAVE ANY SORT OF INCLINATION SOMETHING WAS GOING WRONG?
“No. I didn’t like the temperature and that was it. They made the call. I just worry about the race car.”

BRIAN BURNS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 47 KINGSFORD CHARCOAL CHEVROLET SS – Team making an engine change after the second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session:
“We didn’t qualify as well as we wanted to anyway, so we decided to take the opportunity to change it (the engine) now and eliminate any doubts. We have a good race car and ECR Engines have been awesome all year. We are just taking some precautionary measures to make sure we are good to go to the end.”
