JOHN FORCE No. 1 FRIDAY AT NORTHWEST NATIONALS
SEATTLE, WA – After today’s two qualifying sessions at the picturesque Pacific Raceways located in the shadow of majestic Mount Rainier in Washington State, John Force rebounded from his first run and ended the day rocketing to the number one spot with a mind-numbing 4.085 second run at 308.07 mph. The reigning NHRA Mello Yello Funny Car champ pocketed three qualifying bonus points for the effort. If Force stays No. 1 it will be his 150th career No. 1 extending his impressive NHRA record.

KENT, Wash., August 1, 2014 – Continuing his streak of powerful qualifying efforts in the Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line rocketed to the No. 3 spot on the first day of the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways. Line, of Mooresville, N.C., carried the momentum from his win last week in Sonoma to make the third quickest run of the opening round at the Seattle-area racetrack, and he effectively protected the high position to end the day on a positive note. YOU WERE IN THIS POSITION A YEAR AGO. WHAT DID YOU LEARN THEN THAT WILL CARRY YOU OVER?
“Good question. Make sure the gearbox stays all the way to the end! Or if there is a doubleheader, make sure we change everything. It’s a very difficult decision to think through. You look back and maybe you take more risks in some areas. I don’t know. I always worry about a rain day. When I say that, it’s not literally but it’s in case something bad happens. At least you have something in your pocket. At this point last year, I think we were more comfortable. We didn’t think a bad thing could happen. It wasn’t a rain day but it was like a thunderstorm. You have to keep going and working hard and not worry about the guys. Right now, just push it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–IndyCar–Mid-Ohio–Media Appearances

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET SS – POLE WINNER
“I thought it would be Joey (Logano) too. Those Penske cars are fast every weekend. To get a pole here, my first ‘real’ pole (Kyle started on the pole at Richmond when qualifying was rained out) feels great. To come to a ‘tricky triangle’ like this there is no other race track like it. It’s fun because you get to shift and hit your marks. It’s difficult so I’m glad I could win the pole it feels great. Hopefully, we can get our first career win this weekend too in the No. 42 Target Chevy.”

TALK ABOUT COMING HERE TO POCONO A PLACE YOU HAVE HAD SUCCESS:
“I feel really good about coming back here the second time around. We had a lot of speed last week at Indianapolis. That is a good feeling, a similar track in certain ways, but a lot different in others. Just trying to keep up with that. Practice was pretty good there. We made some gains. I didn’t get a real good lap in qualifying practice, but we were on both sides of it. Hopefully, we will have a good shot when it’s time later. I feel good about this weekend. Looking forward to it. We definitely need a little more practice still, but feel good about our chance on Sunday.”

TELL US WHY GREG IVES WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE OF THE NO. 88:
“I think from a lot of different levels. I think if you look at the structure that we’ve got in place the way we are working closely with JR Motorsports. We wanted to get that team set-up to where it could be used as a farm team to help lead Hendrick Motorsports. Greg is obviously a very good fit with me and the rest of the team at the 48/88 shop. He worked his way up from a mechanic to a chassis set-up guy to the No. 48 lead engineer and won championships with us. I think that from that stand point it’s really a no brainer.”

WHAT IS YOUR OUTLOOK FOR THIS WEEKEND AT POCONO?
“I’m excited to be back. We had a very strong car here a couple of months ago. Even with the mistake on pit road and the collision with the No. 9 car (Marcos Ambrose) we still had a shot to win the race and had a very, very fast race car. So, I’m excited to come back. Clearly, when we come here we hope the weather cooperates. There is some threatening weather out there. So, we’ll keep our fingers crossed and hopefully get everything in that we need to.”

KKR heads back state-side after three races in Canada
After few stops in the northeast, the World of Outlaws tour headed to Canada for three races in four nights. Once again the Kasey Kahne Racing teams kept up their consistency as Daryn Pittman and Brad Sweet finished in the top 10 in all three races, while Cody Darrah battled for the win in a hard-fought race at Autodrome Dummond before finishing third and grabbing his 33rd top-10 finish of the year at Oshweken with a sixth-place finish on Tuesday.
Follow A Dream–PERMATEX/FOLLOW A DREAM TEAM HITS ATCO FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 3 YEARS
Marstons Mills, MA-July 31, 2014-For the first time in three years, Jay Blake’s Permatex/Follow A Dream team will head to Atco, N.J., just outside of Philadelphia, for an NHRA East Regional. The event, added back to the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series schedule for the first time since 2011, has ended in victory for the Follow A Dream team twice in the team’s last five appearances there, including in 2010, when driver Todd Veney ended his first season back with the team with a win.
“I made my first 260-mph run the first time we ran here,” Veney said. “Atco’s a long, flat track with great air, so maybe we can have another weekend like we did four years ago.”
“It’s great to be going back there,” said Blake. “I think everybody was disappointed when Atco was taken off the schedule a few years ago. The new track owners are former Alcohol Funny Car racers and it’ll be exciting to get back to that place.”
It’s night racing – both qualifying and eliminations. Qualifying sessions are scheduled for 5:00 and 7:30 Friday, and eliminations are set to go off at 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00 Saturday night.

Anderson Sees Opportunity in Seattle’s Northwest Nationals
Mooresville, N.C., July 30, 2014 – Greg Anderson entered the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season at a disadvantage after missing the first five races of the season, but he has steadily chipped away at the distance separating him from a position in the prestigious top 10. This weekend, as the tour hits Seattle for the 27th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways, Anderson is closer than ever and less than one round outside of 10th with three races to go before the Countdown to the Championship field is set.

Line, secure in Countdown, puts team progress at forefront in Seattle
Mooresville, N.C., July 30, 2014 – Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line added a win at the Seattle area’s Pacific Raceways in 2008, and the victory closed the door on a frustrating dry spell at the facility located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Once the first win was in the books at the NHRA Northwest Nationals, the embargo was lifted for Line, and he followed up with a victory in 2011 against KB Racing teammate Greg Anderson.
