Anderson Retains Points Lead after Seattle with Quick Summit Racing Camaro

SEATTLE, Wash., August 9, 2015 – Greg Anderson had a strong car in the first round of eliminations at the 28th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals, and the driver of the red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro truly felt that he could take it all the way to the winner’s circle and claim a fourth win at Pacific Raceways. Unfortunately, that was not the end result. Even so, Anderson closed out the strenuous Western Swing with the points lead in hand and his position secured in NHRA’s 2015 Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship. Richard Childress Racing drivers Paul Menard, Ryan Newman and Austin Dillon finished 13th, 15th and 36th, respectively, in the Watkins Glen 355 at Watkins Glen International.
Menard ranks 11th in the Sprint Cup Series championship point standings, trailing current leader Kevin Harvick by 201 points, while Newman ranks 13th and Dillon ranks 21st.
Joey Logano earned his second win of the 2015 season and was followed to the line by Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch.
The 23rd race of the 2015 Sprint Cup Series season is the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, August 16, 2015, which is scheduled to be televised live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time and broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Satellite Radio, channel 90. KENT, WA – John Force raced to his second semi-final of the year today at the 28th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals to go with two wins and two runner-up finishes. The winningest driver in NHRA history will also hold onto his status as the only Funny Car driver to win the three race Western Swing. WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – (August 9, 2015) – Reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, Kevin Harvick, had to settle for a third-place finish in the CHEEZ-IT 355 at Watkins Glen International when his No. 4 Budweiser/Jimmy John’s Chevrolet SS ran out of fuel on the final lap of the race. Having led 29 of the 90-lap, 220.5-mile event, more than any other driver, Harvick ran dry with just two corners to go. (Aug. 8, 2015) – A week after taking his first career NHRA Pro Stock victory, Chris McGaha was the No. 1 qualifier Saturday after the fourth and final round of qualifying for the NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways. McGaha, in the Harlow Sammons of Odessa Chevrolet Pro Stock Camaro SS, made his final qualifying pass count to take the top spot as Team Chevy drivers took the top five positions in Pro Stock ahead of Sunday’s final eliminations. WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – (August 8, 2015) – AJ Allmendinger ran a lightening quick lap of 127.839 mph in his No. 47 Kroger/Bush’s Beans Chevrolet SS to secure the pole position for Sunday’s Cheez-It 355 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. This will be the second time Allmendinger will start from the pole this season. The No. 47 Chevy SS also led the field to the green flag earlier this year at the road course event at Sonoma Raceway.
