looking for fifth Houston drag race trophy
HOUSTON (April 17) — Six-time world champion drag racer Jeg Coughlin Jr. has amassed 76 national event victories in his drag racing career, including five at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston, site of this weekend’s 30th annual NHRA Spring Nationals. Considering how the first four races of the year have gone for the popular Ohioan, he’s hoping that number grows while he’s in the Lone Star State, and he’ll have two chances to add to his total. Tim Allison Checks In

This past weekend was our first race out for the 2017 season and the weather was great! We had 24 cars on opening night and the track was super fast. We drew lucky 21 to qualify in group 5 and we qualified 2nd quick and then the scoring system decided to quit working so we had to go back to the old pill draw method again. So instead of staring up front on a fast race track, we would start 5th in the first heat race and with a wide open track and no passing hardly, we finished 6th in our heat race.
So for the feature we would start in the 13th position with a lot of work cut out to get to the front. On a fast track the initial start was great as we came out running 6th and wouldn’t you know it, a guy stopped on the track and we had a total restart. The second restart did not go as well and we worked our way up to the 7th position toward the end of the race. We ended up 9th when it was all said and done, so not bad. We went forward and brought the car home in one piece for the first night out. We will improve this week coming up and we will be at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday night! !
thank you so much for all your continued help and support!! have a great day!

Mechanical Woes Slow Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Dow Energy and Water Chevrolet Team at Texas Motor Speedway

“As soon as I made a pace lap before the race I could feel something was was broken. We had to go into the garage and make repairs before we could even start the race. Man, it just sucks. Everyone knows you’ll have days like that over the course of a 38-race season but no one wants that ever. We worked hard the entire race just trying to make up laps and gain positions. The Dow Energy and Water Chevrolet really was fast today, we just didn’t get a chance to show it.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–O Reilly Auto Parts 500

THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS BIGGER IN TEXAS. HOW BIG WAS THIS WIN?
“I guess I remembered how to drive; and I guess this team remembered how to do it! I’m just real proud of this team. What a tough track and tough conditions. We were really in our wheelhouse and we were just able to execute all day. Thanks to everybody at Lowe’s and Chevy and the fans and a ton of sponsors. Oh, it was hot in there. I got cooked in the car today. I didn’t have any fluids so I’m not feeling the best, but we got into Victory Lane. I’m so proud of the fight in this race team. I can’t wait to celebrate during this off-weekend with my family and friends and really enjoy this.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Texas–Post Race Notes
