NASCAR Legend Jeff Gordon To Drive Camaro ZL1 Pace Car at Brickyard 400

INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, June 29, 2017 – NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon will drive the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Pace Car to lead the field to the start of the 24th annual Brickyard 400 on Sunday, July 23 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Merritt Speedway, July 8th, Added to SOD MAHLE/Clevite Challenge Schedule

ERIE, MICHIGAN (June 28, 2017) – Merritt Speedway has announced that Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt will make up last Saturday’s rain out on July 8th. With the announcement, SOD has been able to move the MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge back to Merritt, maintaining the series’ format of five races at five different speedways.

SOD competitors eagerly looked forward to the first 2017 race at Merritt last Saturday, but Mother Nature had other plans. It is with heightened excitement that they now plan on making up the rain out at “Michigan’s Premier Dirt Track.”

Thomas Schinderle and Joe Swanson are tied for the MAHLE/ Clevite BLC point lead after two races. Steve Irwin, Dain Naida, and Chris Jones are 3rd through 5th.

The first MAHLE/Clevite BLC race, scheduled for May 20th, was rained out, but run the next day at Baer Field Motorsports Park and was won by Shawn Valenti. The 2nd race was at Thunderbird Raceway where Chad Blonde made a last lap pass of Schinderle to take home the win.

Besides the completed Baer Field Motorsports Park and Thunderbird Raceway races, 2017 MAHLE/Clevite BLC races are the Merritt Speedway race, one at Crystal Motor Speedway, and the last one at the Manistee County Fairgrounds Speedway. The BLC also includes its own point fund with $1,000 going to the champion.

Inside Line Promotions – CALISTOGA, Calif. (June 28, 2017) – Dominic Scelzi captured the biggest win of his career last Saturday when he claimed the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion of the California Dirt Classic at Calistoga Speedway.

The win netted Scelzi a career-best payday of $10,500 plus a $500 bonus from Kyle Larson Racing thanks to his car owner, Nick McColloch, supporting the series.

Final Round Appearance for Megan Meyer at Tulsa Raceway Park

The rising star of the Top Alcohol Dragster Class, Megan Meyer, extended her Central Region points lead after earning a runner-up finish at Tulsa Raceway Park. This is Megan’s third final round appearance for the 2017 season and her first runner-up conclusion.

Megan powered her A/Fuel Dragster to a 5.36 E.T. at 270 mph to claim the second qualifying position, while her teammate Shayne Lawson wasn’t able to qualify with his 5.54 pass. The opening round of eliminations saw Megan against Christine Chambless, the only other female driver in the class for the event. Megan defeated Christine with a slower 5.44 E.T. at only 256 mph, but still had lane choice over Spencer Massey in the second round. NORWALK, Ohio (June 25, 2017) – Allen Johnson drove the Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart to the quarterfinal round of competition after taking out Chris McGaha in the first round of eliminations at the 11th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.

Johnson came into raceday in the No. 9 spot and had a first round matchup against Chris McGaha. When Johnson reacted at the launch with a strong .022-second reaction time, his win light was already turned on in his lane because McGaha turned on the red light by .012-seconds. Despite the red light, Johnson still crossed the finish line at Summit Motorsports Park first with a 6.627-second pass at 209.43 mph over McGaha’s 6.670, 208.91.
