Ridgeline Baja Race Truck Continues Baja Podium Success
• Honda Racing Ridgeline team scores fourth Baja podium result
• Finishes second in class at 50th running of the Baja 1000
• Johnson Racing effort completes podium for Honda with third-place run

LA PAZ, Mexico (Nov. 19, 2017) – The Honda Racing Ridgeline Team once again proved to be “Baja Strong” in the 50th running of the classic Baja 1000 off-road race from Ensenada to La Pax, Mexico, leading their class multiple times and finishing second, the fourth podium finish for the Honda Ridgeline Baja Race Truck in five Baja races.

Following the Honda Racing Ridgeline Team to the checkers in La Paz was a second Ridgeline effort, including Mark Johnson, Norris Brown, Alan Roach and Mike Mitchell. Their third-place result gave Honda two of the three podium positions in the Open Production Mini Truck class.

Starting seventh in class, Jeff Proctor and navigator Evan Weller progressed through the field in the opening segment, taking the lead for the first time at the 75-mile mark. Falling back to second after replacing a drive shaft, the Ridgeline duo regained the lead after the team’s first scheduled pit stop in San Felipe. Austin Dillon and the Dow WeatherTech Team Close Out 2017 Season with Strong, 11th-Place Finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway

“The Dow WeatherTech Chevrolet was pretty good today, so I’m glad we could put a period on the 2017 season with a solid finish. I didn’t have enough grip to run the high line during the race, which is normally the preferred line at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but I felt pretty good running lower on the track. During that last run, we were just too loose to make anything happen. Still, we were able to clinch 11th in the final driver’s point standings, which is pretty cool. I’m proud of everyone on this program and appreciate all of the hard work this year. We’re a bunch of racers and we’ll be back even stronger next season.”

F4 U.S. DRIVERS GAIN VALUABLE EXPERIENCE AT SUPERKARTS! USA SUPERNATIONALS

LAS VEGAS (November 18, 2017) – The Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda is a youth-focused, cost-contained series serving as a building block to open-wheel racing for competitors making taking that next step from karts to cars. Several F4 U.S. drivers like Jack William Miller of Westfield, Indiana, John Paul Southern Jr. of Westlake, Ohio, Austin McCusker of Glen Head, New York, and Lawson Nigel of Fort Worth, Texas, started their racing careers whipping around hairpin turns, developing their race craft in karts.

Some F4 U.S. drivers still participate in the Superkarts! USA series. Jay Howard’s Motorsports Driver Development driver Braden Eves of Gahanna, Ohio, entered the SKUSA Supernationals, the largest karting event in the world, this weekend to continue to develop his skills behind the wheel. Ben Kennedy Closes out 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series with 18th- Place Finish in Rheem Chevrolet after Top-10 Run

“We has a really fast Rheem Chevrolet today. We started 25th and I felt like our car was better than most of the cars I was running with but I stayed patient so as not to wear out our equipment. At the end of Stage 2, we had an awesome pit stop that helped us restart in the top-10. We couldn’t really run with those guys at the bottom but at the top of the track we were better than anyone. At the end of the race I tagged the wall like I had been tagging it all day and it finally cut a tire. We had to pit with two laps to go for right-side tires. We were running ninth at the time and the fastest car on the track so I hated to see that happen. It was a pleasure racing with RCR this season and I am thankful for the opportunity.”

CHEVROLET CAMARO CARRIES WILLIAM BYRON TO CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (November 18, 2017) – William Byron, driver of the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro, claimed the 2017 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) championship with a third-place finish in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. His title, the first for Byron and second in the past four seasons for JR Motorsport co-owners Kelley Earnhardt Miller and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., marks Chevrolet’s 19th Driver’s Championship since the inception of the series in 1982.

THE MODERATOR: We’re excited to have all three manufacturers sit down with you to talk about their season. With me we have Jim Campbell, Chevrolet US vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports. Dave Pericak, global director of Ford Performance. Before we talk about the action on the track, obviously these fierce competitors have continued to drive fan engagement throughout the year at record levels, specifically putting out great exclusive content from all three brands. This year they had a unique program that they worked with NASCAR on in which fans were entered for a chance to win new trucks, a VIP experience to Champions Week, other experiences and prizes. Blaney To Start Among The Top 12 For the 26th Time In 2017

For their final race together, Ryan Blaney and the Wood Brothers team will start the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway from a familiar position.

Blaney, crew chief Jeremy Bullins, and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team bounced back from a mediocre practice session to advance through all three rounds of knock-out qualifying and earn the 11th starting spot for Sunday’s finale of Ford Championship Weekend.

FINAL RACE FOR CHEVY SS:
As the 2017 season comes to a close, so does the time on the track for the Chevy SS. The SS made its on-track debut in 2013 during speed weeks in Daytona, winning the first points paying race as Jimmie Johnson took the SS to winner’s circle in the season-opening Daytona 500. Since then, the SS has gone on to win 72 more races, making it the most successful Generation-6 NASCAR race car over its competitors. The SS has carried two drivers to season-ending championship titles including Johnson to his record-tying seventh. With its stylized features and authentic showroom to race track rear-wheel drive, the SS will hold special memories over its six-year run as Chevy’s flagship in the NASCAR Cup Series. Steve Irwin crowned 2017 Sprints On Dirt Champion

ERIE, MICHIGAN (November 14, 2017) – The curtain came down on the Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP 2017 season with the 38th Annual Awards Banquet at the Holiday Inn Battle Creek (MI) Saturday night with the last of the season’s $76,535 points money and awards handed out.

The top 12 drivers in season points were led by Steve Irwin, now a two-time SOD champion. Irwin’s share of 2017 points money and awards was $7,609. Irwin and wife/car owner Adrianna looked ready for to appear at a celebrity awards show in their vintage 50s-style attire.

Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series history at Homestead-Miami Speedway … Homestead-Miami Speedway is one of the few race tracks where team owner Richard Childress has yet to earn a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory. Richard Childress Racing entries have finished second on four occasions: 2003 (Kevin Harvick), 2008 (Harvick), 2009 (Jeff Burton) and 2014 (Ryan Newman). In 57 starts, RCR has earned nine top-five and 23 top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile, progressively-banked oval with drivers Dave Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Burton, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Green, Harvick, Newman, Paul Menard and Mike Skinner. Kentucky Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway are the other tracks on the current Cup Series schedule where RCR is still on the hunt for hardware. INDIANAPOLIS (November 9, 2017) – At the end of each Formula 4 United States Championship Powered By Honda season, the top-seven drivers entered in the championship points reserve are presented FIA Super License and FIA championship points to aid in their racing career advancement to Formula 1.
