SIXTEEN-TIME CHAMPION JOHN FORCE RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL AFTER MASSIVE EXPLOSION AND CRASH DURING NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS

SIXTEEN-TIME CHAMPION JOHN FORCE RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL AFTER MASSIVE EXPLOSION AND CRASH DURING NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb. 25, 2018) — In an accident eerily reminiscent of his 2007 crash in Dallas, Texas, John Force won his second round race in Sunday’s 34th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals before an engine explosion sent his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Camaro careening into the Toyota of Jonnie Lindberg.

The two cars, linked together by tangled parachutes, hit one wall, then the other before coming to a stop in a cloud of smoke. As a precaution, the 68-year-old veteran was transported for further evaluation and released Sunday evening from Chandler Regional Hospital. COURTNEY FORCE ENDS WINLESS STREAK WITH NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS VICTORY

COURTNEY FORCE ENDS WINLESS STREAK WITH NHRA ARIZONA NATIONALS VICTORY
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb. 25 2018) — A weekend filled with a well of emotions ended on the ultimate high-note for John Force Racing at the 34th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Worse Pass Motorsports Park outside of Phoenix. Courtney Force will head back to Yorba Linda, Calif. with a Wally while her father, 16-time world champion John Force, will head home with another hospital visit.

The drag racing legend ended his race day with an engine explosion during the second round. John Force won the round before his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil Chevy Camaro burst into flames, went out of control, made contact with the retaining wall, and collided with opponent Jonnie Lindberg in the opposite lane. Force was transported to a local hospital for evaluation while Lindberg exited the car under his own power. Force was later cleared and returned to Wild Horse Pass after racing had ended.

An interview with Funny Car winner COURTNEY FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, ADVANCE AUTO PARTS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 1 qualifier; claimed ninth career Funny Car win and first since Houston in 2016; reached 18th career final; set track Funny Car elapsed time record in qualifying and speed record in final round):

WHAT DOES (CO-CREW CHIEF) BRIAN CORRADI BRING TO YOUR CREW?
“It’s been huge. It’s been great having Corradi on our team, working with Dan Hood. They’re kind of like family; they’ve known each other for a long time. It’s been a really great connection with the entire team. Every single one of my guys on the Advance Auto Parts Chevy Camaro has been working so hard. Today was actually a tough day. We had a 40-minute turnaround in the semis. They got it up there. We were able to get that win. Obviously, my dad wasn’t in the other lane for that run, but we still managed to have a solid pass down the racetrack. Didn’t have lane choice in the final and weren’t able to warm up the car but still got it up there. It was nice for TJ (Tommy Johnson Jr.) to wait for us. We were able to go up there and lay down a killer number. It’s thanks to my guys. They gave me the confidence to get in that car today. They make me feel safe in that car because of the amazing job they do on it. Corradi and Hood have been unbelievable getting the No. 1 qualifier we had this weekend and then to top it off. To take home the Wally at the end of the weekend is pretty incredible. It’s definitely a great start to our season. We’ve been looking for a win for a long time now. It feels like forever and this one definitely feels good, and I know it will help my dad feel a lot better.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NHRA–Phoenix–Post Race

for early season success at Arizona Nationals
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb. 24) — Jeg Coughlin Jr. saved his best qualifying pass for last, navigating Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in 6.553 seconds at 210.14 mph early Saturday evening to jump up to the 11th starting slot at the 34th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals.

“That final pass definitely felt much better,” Coughlin said. “It moved out to the left a little bit and I had to work to get it back in the groove but I could tell as soon as I let the clutch out this thing was screaming. It could have been even better but I hit the rev-limiter in the 4-5 gear change, which is a big no-no, because it’s like tapping the brakes, which you obviously don’t want to do. Even so, we put an okay number up there. Continue reading World champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. aiming for early season success at Arizona Nationals

RYAN NEWMAN FASTEST IN THE FINAL PRACTICE SESSION AT ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

HAMPTON, Ga. (February 24, 2018) – Yesterday, Ryan Newman placed his No. 31 Liberty National Camaro ZL1 on the outside pole for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. Today, he clocked the fastest time in the final practice session.

“I feel like we’ve got a good car,” Newman said following the session. “I think for sure a top 10 car, maybe a top five car, but the Liberty National Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was good off the truck and with this whole one Happy Hour it kind of changes things a little bit in how you approach it. Just look forward to the race whenever we get to it, whenever Mother Nature allows us and feel like we will be plenty competitive, just got to put it all together.”

Newman led a contingent of four Camaro ZL1 drivers in the top 10 in the final session. Seven-time Cup Series champion, Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s for Pros Camaro ZL1 was sixth in the final session followed by Chris Buescher, No. 37 Louisiana Hot Sauce Camaro ZL1 in seventh and Darrell “Bubba” Wallace, No. 43 NASCAR Racing Experience Camaro ZL1 in 10th.

The Fold of Honor QuikTrip 500 start time has been moved up one hour and will now begin at 1:00 p.m., EDT with live coverage on FOX, PRN and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.
