Dominic Scelzi Enjoys Opportunity to Compete With All Stars and World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions – LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (May 30, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi is grateful for an opportunity to venture east for a weekend of action with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

“It was cool to get the call to go race in good equipment with the McGhee Family,” he said. “I met those guys a couple of years ago and when the opportunity presented itself I jumped on it. I want to thank them for having me race for them.”

Scelzi drove the No. 11 sprint car of Max McGhee during a trio of races beginning last Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. He timed in second quickest in his group before a fourth-place finish in a heat race lined him up on the inside of the 10th row for the All Star A Main.

JOLIET, Ill. (May 31, 2018) — For many years Robert Hight used his hand eye coordination skills to demolish trapshooting targets. He was so proficient that Olympic aspirations were not out of the question but Hight traded in his shotgun for something with a little more kick over two decades ago. Now he trains his eyes on the flicker of yellow from the starting line Christmas Tree and has been demolishing track speed and elapsed time records behind the wheel of his Auto Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro Funny Car.

Now with two NHRA Mello Yello Funny Car world championships under his belt Hight has his sights set on a dominant start to four races in a row during the month of June starting with the JEGS Route 66 NHRA Nationals outside of Chicago. MARSTONS MILLS, Massachusetts (May 31, 2018) – The Follow A Dream/Permatex Top Alcohol Funny Car team feels it has turned a corner and is headed in a positive direction after this past weekend’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series regional event at Maple Grove (Pa.) Raceway.

Driver Phil Burkart qualified the Chevrolet Camaro TA/FC sixth of the seven drivers entered in the field and reached the semifinals before being defeated by eventual event winner Sean Bellemeur.

When Indianapolis 500 legend Rodger Ward designed Pocono Raceway, he patterned Turn One after the old Trenton Speedway in New Jersey, Turn Two after Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Turn Three after the Milwaukee Mile.

On the surface it would seem like Paul Menard, driver of the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion would have an advantage at Pocono since he’s won two major NASCAR races on tracks the late Ward used in his planning for Pocono. Menard won the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis in 2011 and an Xfinity Series race at the Milwaukee Mile in 2015.

But he said that Pocono’s turns, while similar to the legendary tracks they were based on, are themselves unique.

DETROIT (May 30, 2018) – Corvette Racing has made its annual venture across the Atlantic to Le Mans, France – for the 19th consecutive year – ahead of this year’s running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. First up: Sunday’s Test Day at the 8.47-mile Circuit de la Sarthe for eight hours of track time ahead of the French endurance classic.

It is the only time that Corvette Racing – and the other 59 teams entered for Le Mans – will get on the track ahead of raceweek from June 13-17. It may seem like plenty of time to run through a test program, but eight hours goes by quickly on such a long track, not to mention cycling through each of the drivers during the day. Inside Line Promotions – LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (May 29, 2018) – Giovanni Scelzi produced an eye-opening weekend with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

Scelzi, who was driving for Bernie Stuebgen, scored a pair of career-best fifth-place finishes during All Star events in Ohio before capping the holiday weekend by earning a career-best eighth-place result with the World of Outlaws in Indiana.

“It’s hard to go in figuring out what your expectations are,” he said. “We were a lot more prepared this time. I felt better going into last week than any week before.
