DI DRIVER BLOG PRESENTED BY WELD RACING: Megan Meyer

Fifteen years ago, I made my first pass in a Junior Dragster. It was a day I will never forget. It was on a Wednesday night at Kansas City International Raceway (KCIR) approximately 45 minutes from our house. I remember my dad telling me if it feels uncomfortable or spins the tires, lift off the gas. I knew exactly what to do – I’ve seen my dad and older cousins go down the strip hundreds of times. As I watched the amber lights fall, I smashed the throttle and cruised down to the eighth-mile at 30 MPH. It was so thrilling! Continue reading Megan’s latest blog: how it all began 15 years ago… →

2018 NMCA Radial Wars Championship

We had a great year, running the fastest ever E.T. in Radial Wars history (3.84 @ 196 mph), and reeling off four race wins, while racing some of the best radial racers in the world like Dwayne Mills, Marty Stinnett, and Mark Woodruff.

The 2017 Corvette performed flawlessly all season — showing consistency in running in the 3 second range on almost any track surface. Anchored by a ProLine Engines 548 Hemi utilizing AJPE components, powered by a ProCharger F3-136 and FuelTech FT600 EFI system, the combination proved itself to be reliable and spot-on all year. “At the end of the day, I’ll never apologize for being a hunter.” – Eva Shockey

Being a woman in a man’s sport is nothing new to me, and hunting is no different than racing in that sense. But there is a different perspective that I have on my love for nature when I’m outside of the cockpit of my dragster. It’s all about connecting with the outdoors and slowing down from the busy life of work and racing. For me, hunting is my escape from the computer screen and stepping away from the role of a race car driver into a conservationist.
