CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: Podium for No. 4 Corvette

Methodical march forward for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports in GTD PRO SEBRING, Fla. (March 21, 2026) – Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports’ No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R raced its way to the podium in GTD PRO on Saturday as Tommy Milner, Nicky Catsburg and Nico Varrone placed third in class at the end of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

It was the second podium finish in three races for the No. 4 Corvette trio dating back to last year’s Petit Le Mans to close the 2025 season. They finished just off the podium in this year’s opener at Daytona, and with Saturday’s results are effectively second in the Drivers Championship among all full-season teams. The podium finish was the team’s first in the 12 Hours since winning the 2022 race in GTD PRO.

Catsburg crossed the finish line ahead of Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports teammate Alexander Sims in the No. 3 Z06 GT3.R. He and teammates Antonio Garcia and Marvin Kirchhöfer rebounded from a tough finish at Daytona, and Chevrolet earned second-place points for the Manufacturers’ Championship with the result.
The No. 3 Corvette started the race fifth and the No. 4 was seventh. Despite not being able to match the pace of most of the rest of the GTD PRO teams, the Corvette and Pratt Miller squad instead relied on the trusted formula of strategy and execution in the pitlane to gain a combined five spots at the end.
In GTD, the No. 13 Corvette of 13 Autosport teammates Matt Bell, Orey Fidani and Lars Kern placed sixth in class and claimed the race’s Bob Akin Award as the highest-finishing GTD entry with a Bronze-rated driver. The team marched up the order from 17th at the start to contend for the class podium late before two late full-course yellow periods in the final 90 minutes.
DXDT Racing’s Charlie Eastwood, Mason Filippi and Salih Yoluc placed ninth in class after leading the race for a majority of the race’s middle hours. The No. 36 Corvette rebounded from a pitlane penalty inside the final four hours to get back into the top-10 by race’s end.
DragonSpeed’s second race with the Corvette came to an unfortunate early end after Henrik Hedman was pushed off track and into the tire barriers by an LMP2 car just shy of the two-hour mark. Instead of folding, the team and the Corvette Racing customer support team worked tirelessly to return the Corvette to the track nearly three hours later so the team could log additional laps and data going into the rest of the season.
The next event for Corvette Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is the Grand Prix of Long Beach on Saturday for GTP and GTD cars only. NBC will broadcast the race live at 4 p.m. ET with a live stream of the race on Peacock. IMSA Radio will provide live audio coverage on XM 206, Channel 996 on the SiriusXM app and IMSA.com.

CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R DRIVER QUOTESTOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “A good surprise. Going into the race and with what we were seeing from practice, we didn’t expect to be that far up. I wouldn’t say our expectations were low, but lately we’ve had some very fast cars here and we felt like we could race for the win. Today, we didn’t feel like that was going to happen. But as always, it doesn’t matter who has the fastest cars or the slowest cars. We still try to find a way to make something happen. Things definitely fell in our favor today. The Corvette was a little bit quicker and more competitive than we were expecting. Nicky and Nico did a phenomenal job – Nicky, at the end, especially. This race is always so messy at the end, and he did a great job. So a really, really good job and I’m super proud of the team. The 3 car guys did an amazing job too. We were sort of in front of each other at different stages of the race, and it just kind of fell in our favor at the end there.”

NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “A pleasant surprise, definitely. It didn’t seem like we had much pace all week, and then luckily when we needed it, when the temperatures went down, the car came alive. Some of the restarts kind of went in our favor and the strategy, as well, because we were a bit on the back foot after getting an unlucky drive-through penalty. Then we had pace and I could fight. I think I passed the Ferrari, I passed the board, I passed the McLaren today, and then eventually the sister car. I could see that their tires were just a little bit outside of the window and mine were in the window. It’s really nice because the past couple of years we always had bad endings here. So it was nice to finally have a positive result.”

NICO VARRONE, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It was a great weekend and result for us. In practice and in qualifying, we thought we were a bit far behind the other manufacturers, but we mostly had a clean race and had a great racecar. The whole Corvette Racing team and Pratt Miller, they really nailed our setup. The car was flying, and I think we kept the race clean. A lot of others had issues and mistakes, so at the end it put us forward on the grid. Tommy and Nicky did a fantastic job. They were flying today, especially Nicky… his pace was amazing. So yeah, we maximized the points even more than we thought we could do with the pace we had. So that’s great… third and fourth for the team on a weekend where we weren’t so strong is amazing. I’m really happy for all the guys.”

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I think we have to be happy. After how it started with trying to hang on to match everyone out there, I think we carried on well with our car. We were not that far off setup-wise at the end of the race. So P3 and P4 is good for the Corvette team. It’s a shame that we didn’t really have a chance to go for the win. But these are the cases where, as we know from the past, that you take the best you can achieve. If that’s third, then we should take those. And whenever you have a chance to win, that’s the one you need to go for. But today was very good for points and I’m happy with that.”

ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It felt like we had more pace in our car during the day. Then as the night fell, it felt like the operating window on the 3 car was just really quite narrow. It was very tough to get right consistently lap after lap. So our pace wasn’t so strong, to be honest. But I’m really pleased for the 4 guys. Nicky was absolutely flying out there. They had it hooked up, so I’m pleased for them to get a podium and good team points. Obviously after Daytona, it’s just nice to get good solid points. Well done to the entire team.”

MARVIN KIRCHHÖFER, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I think if anyone would have told us before the race that P3 and P4 was going to be our result today, I think we would have all said yep, we would take that. So I’m very pleased with the result and very happy for the team. Scoring a podium is always nice so well done on the podium for the No. 4 car guys. Also a good result for us with P4 and definitely good for the championship run. So I hope the guys will continue in a strong way for the next races coming up. Obviously, we could not quite match the other manufacturers today, so definitely this is a result you will take and be happy with.”

GIACOMO ALTOE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s obviously a huge disappointment. Our race was effectively ruined early on by a shocking move on Henrik – there is no word for that – and there was nothing he could do. The consequences could have been far worse.”The team did an incredible job to get the car back out on track. People can’t imagine what they accomplished in such a period of time. We were able to rely on the support of Corvette and Pratt Miller throughout.”When we returned to the race, our pace was strong even though we were clearly not in the best conditions. We have to take the positives from this pace and use it to build future success. Sebring is always a tough race, and we saw that again today. We’ll come back even stronger — we have everything we need to shine.”

No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing Finishes Third in Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (March 20, 2026) – Filipe Albuquerque, Will Stevens and Ricky Taylor, drivers of the No.10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R finished third in the 74th Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring. Cadillac Racing now has 106 podiums (22 GTP, 84 DPi) since joining IMSA prototype competition in 2017. They have also won or finished on the podium five of the last six races at Sebring. The race was dominated by the Penske Motorsports team with them finishing first and second. Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Fredreick Vesti from the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R for Action Express Racing finished fourth, while the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R driven by Louis Deletraz, Colton Herta and Jordan Taylor finished eighth.

Ricky Taylor passed Jack Aitken for third late in the event to get the final podium spot. The last podium finish for the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R was in September 2025 in the six-hour race at Indianapolis. Early in the race, Bamber was driving the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R under caution when the car was hit in the back by the No. 6 Penske Motorsports car, which forced the team to replace the damaged engine cover and tail. IMSA officials reviewed the incident but said it was inconclusive, so no penalties were handed down.

The No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R was coming off two wins to end the 2025 season (Indianapolis and Road Atlanta) and then a second place effort in the 2026 Rolex 24 at Daytona. The next IMSA GTP event is the Grand Prix of Long Beach (California) on April 18. The 100-minute race starts at 4:05 pm EDT (1:05 pm PDT) and will be broadcast on NBC and streamed live on Peacock. At Daytona we had something like this in the pocket, but unfortunately we weren’t there. The race was up and down, typical IMSA with a lot happening, but in the end, it was a great result for us. We were the best of the race. P3 feels like a win. Ricky in the end was a star, coming back, just a star. I loved it. The motivation is super high and we can’t wait for the next one.”
Will Stevens: “Super good result for the team. I think it shows the progress we are making, race by race. I think this whole weekend we had a good feeling. We had a strong package from the start and always felt that we were in contention to be upfront. We had a few setbacks in the middle of the race, but stuck with it and pushed to the end. Ricky did an awesome job in the final stint to make his way to third. Really happy for the Cadillac WTR team. I think this podium feels very good for everyone and is helpful to build the confidence going forward.” Ricky Taylor: “Really excited for the Cadillac WTR team. I think the result was the best we could hope for. The whole 10 car group and all of Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing are really hitting their stride in our second year with the Cadillac V-Series.R. I think we feel much more confident going into race weekends. I think we proved this weekend that we can make adjustments to the car for qualifying and the race. That momentum is going to build through the season even more, and now we’re looking forward to Long Beach.” No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R Jack Aitken: “Bit of a tough one for us. The team put us in a position to be up front and we had good work in pit lane. I think we had good strategy today but at the end of the day we just didn’t have the pace for whatever reason. We saw hints of it at the start of the race with dropping a couple of places off the bat, but it didn’t seem too bad, but then we weren’t able to make steps forward when the rest of the field increased the pace. We’ve got some work to do, but solid points and it could have been a lot worse.” Earl Bamber: “We just sort of battled all day and tried our best. Honestly, we had a good car at the start, but we didn’t have anything at the end. I don’t know if we had damage from our impact earlier in the race. We got torn up, no penalties accessed from race control which was surprising and that was about it.” Frederik Vesti: “Fourth place at Sebring for the second year in a row I think. Very frustrating end of the race but to be honest looking at the pace of the day we were fighting for a podium with P3 and it’s frustrating not to be there but we were close. But good points. On my personal side it been an awesome race with a lot of action. I was actually quite surprised how hard people were racing in a 12-hour race. We still have eight hours to go, and people were already banging doors and going for it. I got to drive into the night and see the sunset and then at night and had some good battles with a few cars. Thank you to Cadillac Racing and to Whelen for another good race and we see everyone at Long Beach.”No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R Louis Deletraz: “Disappointing result, only P8. I think we had a tough race. We spent a long time at the back, finally got the yellow we needed, got back close to the field and moved up to P5 before. Stayed there a long time, but yeah, we need to look for some answers; in the last 20 minutes, we just had slow pace, a lot of oversteer, and struggle to keep up. Not what we wanted. Congrats to the 10 for a podium! I think we actually had good pace a lot of time of the race. So we just need to put it all together next time.” Colton Herta: “Well today didn’t quite go the way we had expected. It was a tough day, especially during my stint. The improvements the team has continued to make since Daytona is there, just a few untimely yellows in the heat of the day made it tough to gain positions on track. The way the Cadillac V-Series.R drives on the bumps at Sebring was awesome and I enjoyed my time with the Cadillac WTR team to start the year and look forward to being back at Petit.” Jordan Taylor: “Obviously, a tough day for the 40 car; it seemed like none of the yellows went our way. They were always poorly timed, which was unfortunate. So it always felt like we were on the back foot, but, I think we had showed better pace than last year, which is a positive. Great to see the 10 car fighting for the podium there at the end, kind of the best of the rest. So we can leave here knowing that, we’re in the hunt now, in the mix in these races – just need to have some things go our way.”

Daniels Headlines Yamaha’s Atlanta Sweep

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 21, 2026) – Reigning Mission AFT SuperTwins king Dallas Daniels (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07) successfully defended Yamaha’s home turf to complete a clean sweep of victories for the brand in Saturday night’s Yamaha Atlanta Short Track, Round 3 of the 2026 Progressive American Flat Track season, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. Daniels entered the event saddled both with the pressure of a pair of second-place finishes in the DAYTONA double opener and a winless prior record at Senoia Raceway. Amping it up further was the fact that even though he earned pole position, his Yamaha MT-07 was flanked on the front row by a trio of threatening Harley-Davidson XG750Rs piloted by  two-time Grand National Champion Briar Bauman (No. 3 RWR/Jacob Construction/Parts Plus Harley-Davidson XG750R), rookie sensation Kody Kopp (No. 12 Latus Motors Racing Harley-Davidson XG750R), and perennial podium presence Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Mission Roof Systems Harley-Davidson XG750R). However, the knowledge that Bauman and Robinson beat him in Senoia, Georgia, to go 1-2 a year ago, and that class newcomer Kopp twice outclassed him in DAYTONA, was still not enough to rattle the unshakeable Daniels. The champ blasted into the lead from the start and spent the following eight minutes and two laps brushing off Kopp’s continual attempts to goad him into even a minor bobble in hopes of identifying a way past. Instead, Daniels locked down on the low line and never put a wheel wrong.  Kopp eased up late to stretch the difference to a deceptive 0.988 seconds. The victory was Yamaha’s first premier-class win at its home track and topped off an evening that earlier saw it claim its first and second triumphs in any class at the venue. “It was a tough race,” Daniels said. “We never stopped working all day, and I felt Kody right there the whole Main Event. I needed to keep my head down because I felt like my first half of the race was so strong. The track was so slippery, it was hard to hit your marks. I’m so pumped. This place has been nagging at me. I’ve had so many great battles here but just kept losing out, getting seconds and thirds.  “I want to give this one up to Yamaha. I wanted to win this one for them. We went up to the headquarters and to the plant this week, and everybody is so invested in this. It’s not just us – it’s everyone in a blue shirt. They want to see us win, and this one is for them.” Meanwhile, while Kopp could not break Daniels, his performance further solidified the early indications that he has the potential to emerge a full-blown title threat in his rookie campaign. Bauman – who guided the XG750R to its first-ever Mission AFT SuperTwins win in Senoia a year ago – returned to the box in Georgia, but only following a hugely entertaining scrap with Davis Fisher (No. 67 Rackley Racing/Bob Lanphere’s BMC Racing KTM 790 Duke). Fisher reeled in Bauman by way of a hooked-up high line, ultimately passing the RWR pilot at half-distance. Bauman adjusted his lines in turn, and the two then engaged in a back-and-forth tilt to the checkered flag. Behind them, Robinson not only made it three Harleys in the top five, rookie Aidan RoosEvans (No. 26 FRA Trust Advisors Harley-Davidson XG750R) made it four in the top six to close out a very strong showing for the brand on a night that Yamaha largely owned the spotlight. Brandon Price (No. 92 Memphis Shades/Vinson Construction Yamaha MT-07) finished in seventh, a mere 0.078 seconds adrift of RoosEvans, while Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda/Mission Foods Honda CB750 Hornet), Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 Parts Bros/D&D Cycles/Fairway Ford Aprilia Tuareg 660), and Henry Wiles (No. 911 J&M Logging/Ray C’s Harley-Davidson Kawasaki Ninja 650) combined to push the number of brands inside the top ten to six. Kopp’s DAYTONA double triumph keeps him ahead of Daniels in the early-season points race (65-61) with third-ranked Fisher some 22 points back of first. KICKER AFT SinglesWhat figured to be a showdown between reigning KICKER AFT Singles champion Tom Drane (No. 1 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) and the on-form Walker Porter (No. 10 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R) turned into a masterclass courtesy of veteran ace Trevor Brunner (No. 21 KMA Racing/March Equipment Yamaha YZ450F). While Porter accomplished his initial goal of beating Drane to the holeshot, Brunner slipped in behind and hounded his less experienced adversary. Brunner made his move with just over four minutes to go, throwing his Yamaha underneath Porter’s Honda to grab hold of the lead. Porter was soon further victimized by a freight train consisting of Justin Jones (No. 91 Fairway Ford Chevy GMC Yamaha YZ450F), Chase Saathoff (No. 88 1st Impressions Race Team Husqvarna FC450), and Drane, falling from first to fifth in a matter of just over a minute. While Jones creeped forward and Saathoff actively sought for an advantageous line in third, Brunner stayed strong and consistent at the front en route to a 0.721-second margin of victory. The win was the ninth of Brunner’s career and furthers his remarkable streak of winning at least one Main Event in each of his six career KICKER AFT Singles campaigns. “It was just incredible, “Brunner said. “As soon as I pulled off after that heat race, I looked at my mechanic, Jerimiah (Duffy), and said, ‘I know exactly what to do – this is shaping up to be exactly like my home track, Lawrenceburg Motorcycle Speedway.’ I put in that setup I ran every Friday night since I was three years old, and lo and behold, it worked.” Dark horse Jones held on to hand Yamaha a popular 1-2 with a huge contingent of the brand’s employees in attendance, while Saathoff backed up last year’s Senoia win with another podium at the track. Drane’s fourth saw his record-smashing podium streak snapped at 14. However, it was still good enough to keep him in the championship lead by six points over Brunner (56-50) and nine over Saathoff (47). Porter, meanwhile, lost one additional position late, getting dropped to sixth by teammate Kage Tadman (No. 28 American Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R). Tarren Santero (No. 75 Roof Systems/Vinson Construction Honda CRF450R), Bradon Pfanders (No. 83 Memphis Shades/Corbin Seats Yamaha YZ450F), Jared Lowe (No. 63 Big R Racing/Vinson Construction Honda CRF450R), and Jordan Jean (No. 56 Ray C’s Harley Davidson Yamaha YZ450F) completed the top ten. AFT ProSport 450Sam Drane (No. 7 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F) made it two-for-two in Road to AFT Amateur Invitationals with a walk-away win in the evening’s AFT ProSport 450 Main Event. Similar to his performance at the DAYTONA opener, Drane did so despite not winning the previous day’s AMA-sanctioned Mission Foods CTR Showcase Event. In fact, he didn’t even finish on the box on Friday, but it was a completely different story on Saturday. Drane rocketed off the start and left a field jam-packed with future stars in his wake, ultimately taking the checkered flag with a 2.385-second margin of victory. In doing so, he actually took the honors of delivering Yamaha its first Main Event race win at its home track. Fellow Australian Jake Paige (No. 55 Paige Racing GASGAS MC 450F) fought his way up to second with DAYTONA runner-up Ryder Bitz-Hay (No. 14 Bitz-Hay Racing KTM 450 SX-F) rounding out the podium. Cody Mishey (No. 26 Team Mishey Racing Honda CRF450R)  executed a late pass to take fourth away from Jett Katarzy (No. 17 1st Impressions Husqvarna FC450) as the two completed the top five. CHANDLER, Ariz. (March 21, 2025) – Jack Beckman was John Force Racing’s standard bearer in qualifying for the FMP NHRA Arizona Nationals by posting the second-quickest Funny Car run, while JFR teammates Jordan Vandergriff and Alexis DeJoria will go head-to-head in Round 1 and Josh Hart qualified 10^th in Top Fuel for Sunday’s first-round matchups at Firebird Motorsports Park. Temperatures in the 90s and into triple digits continued to play a critical role in the success of the competitors in either nitro category getting down the track clean. Beckman’s best run in the PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car, 3.982 seconds at 323.97 mph, was made in Q1 Friday as was Vandergriff and the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car team’s fifth-place run of 4.011 seconds at 288.21 mph and Alexis DeJoria’s run of 4.081 seconds at 298.47 mph in the Bandero Premium Tequila Chevrolet SS Funny Car for the 12^thspot. Josh Hart and the Burnyzz Speed Shop / Speedmaster Top Fuel team made their best run in Q3 Saturday morning with a time of 3.854 seconds at 328.30 mph in the semifinal round of the #2Fast2Tasty Challenge. LAWTON, OK (March 20, 2026) – The champion is heating up.

After coming close but going winless through the first six races of the 2026 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season, David Gravel finally broke through last Friday at Kennedale Speedway Park.

This weekend the scene shifted from Texas to Oklahoma, but the result was the same. Lawton Speedway’s Sooner Stampede opened a “Sooner State” weekend for The Greatest Show on Dirt on Friday, and Gravel wheeled the Big Game Motorsports No. 2 to Victory Lane for the second consecutive race.

This time around, the path was paved by not getting the early advantage. Gravel fired off from the pole, but it was second starting Brady Bacon pulling ahead to pace the opening circuit. Gravel stayed steady in the runner-up spot, fending off multiple challenges from Emerson Axsom and Sheldon Haudenschild. Roughly halfway through the race when the preferred line began to shift, Gravel found it before Bacon could and motored by in Turns 3 and 4 to snag the top spot.

That proved to be the winning move as Gravel drove away and made history in the process. The 122nd victory of his World of Outlaws career equaled the 33-year-old with Danny Lasoski for sixth on the all-time win list, a humbling moment for the kid from Watertown, CT that chased his dreams.

“It’s super special,” Gravel said of tying “The Dude.” “I watched Danny win a lot of races. When you win your first race, it’s so cool. Then you win 10 and then 50. It’s just wild, you know? It’s just surreal. Years just fly by. Thankfully I’ve been with a lot of great car owners because without those people I wouldn’t be able to showcase my talent.”

The win combined with some misfortune for Carson Macedo allowed Gravel to extend his advantage atop the points to 38 marks as his pursuit of a three-peat continues.

The second spot belonged to an ecstatic Scott Bogucki. The Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year presented by Five Star contender drove the Three Stooges Racing No. 51 from ninth to runner-up for his first career Series podium.

After leading early, Broken Arrow, OK’s Brady Bacon brought the TKH Motorsports No. 21H home third in front of the home state fans.

Sheldon Haudenschild and Chris Windom completed the top five.

Pierce Blasts Around Troutman for Friday Victory at Magnolia

COLUMBUS, MS (March 20, 2026) – No one loves to see a new addition to the schedule more than Bobby Pierce.

The first of eight tracks hosting their first World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision race in 2026 was Hendry County Motorsports Park in February, and Pierce was the first to reach Victory Lane.

Fast forward a month to the first night of the Duel at the Mag, and the two-time and defending Series champion once again rallied to the front to win Magnolia Motor Speedway’s first World of Outlaws race.

“That’s just a cool piece of history there to be part of,” Pierce said following the 45th World of Outlaws win of his career. “Man, I’m wore out from that race. The track formed those dirt bike ruts and the tires would sit in it, you never knew if it was going to take it or not. You had to be up on the wheel constantly. Fun racetrack, really. I loved it.”

At the start of the 40-lap Feature, it appeared Drake Troutman was in position to grab the first win of his sophomore World of Outlaws campaign. Engine trouble earlier in the week forced crew chief Hunter Cornell to make an emergency trip back to the G.R. Smith Motorsports shop in Statesville, NC to pick up another car, a situation that prevented Troutman from turning any laps in Thursday’s practice sessions.

Nevertheless, Troutman proved he had the fastest car on the track early on, roaring around the outside of Nick Hoffman to take the lead six laps in. The gap ballooned to north of two seconds at one point, but it quickly began diminishing once Pierce passed Hoffman for second and began matching Troutman’s pace on the cushion.

Soon after a caution around the halfway point, Pierce threw a big slider into Turn 1 and cleared Troutman. The No. 22* pulled the crossover down the backstretch but then committed to the bottom, leaving the high side wide open for Pierce to set sail. The No. 32 was in command from that point forward, leading the rest of the way for his second win in seven days following last Saturday’s triumph at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

“When I caught Nick for second there, I think I kind of reeled him down and he went down, got around the top,” Pierce said. “Then that caution came out, I wasn’t really wanting to see that because we were catching Drake. Once again, I feel like I kind of chose the wrong spot on the restart. Hoffman kind of got around us, we had a really good race, racing three-wide for second. I don’t know, just kept working and working [Troutman], the car was good.”

Hoffman crossed the line second to keep Pierce within 10 points in the championship standings, while Jonathan Davenport finished third in his first World of Outlaws start of the season. Ryan Gustin and Ashton Winger rounded out the top five, while Troutman faded to sixth at the checkers.

CHANDLER, Ariz. (March 20, 2025) – Temperatures that soared into the triple digits Friday at Firebird Motorsports Park played a key factor in the first day of qualifying for the FMP NHRA Arizona Nationals presented by NGK Spark Plugs but all four John Force Racing drivers made it safely into the field for Sunday’s eliminations. Jack Beckman and the PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car team led JFR’s overall charge with a Q1 run of 3.982 seconds at 323.97 mph, good enough for the provisional second spot, while the ambient temperature was still in the low 90s. Jordan Vandergriff then put the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car into fourth place with a Q1 run of 4.011 seconds at 288.21 mph while Alexis DeJoria and the Bandero Quality Tequila Chevrolet SS Funny Car team grabbed the ninth spot with a run of 4.081 seconds at 298.47 mph despite dropping a cylinder and having her hands full at the top end. Josh Hart, winner of the season-opening Gatornationals two weeks ago, bettered his tire-smoking first attempt with a Q2 run of 4.053 seconds at 296.44 mph in the Burnyzz Speed Shop / Speedmaster Top Fuel Dragster with the ambient temperature pushing past the 101-degrees mark. Saturday’s qualifying sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. PT with similar triple-digit heat in the forecast. Sunday eliminations are slated for 10 a.m. PT. Quote from Jack Beckman, PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car:“Except for Richmond, that only runs a two-day race and starts earlier in the day, there’s never an event you go to where the expectation is the first run might have the best conditions for the quickest run. But, when NHRA shifted the schedule due to the heat forecast, I think that was a prudent move. We knew runs one and three will probably be our best track conditions, but you don’t want to go to bed Friday night sweating if you’re not the one in the show. That’s a tough position to be in. We were there one race ago at Gainesville, going into the last session not qualified. So, to unload with the 3.98 takes so much pressure off the PEAK SQUAD and now it allows us to try some things with the tuneup. So, we pushed a little bit hard on Q2, and that’s okay. That will tell us what we need to do in Q4 and when we go into later rounds on Sunday.” Quote from Jordan Vandergriff, Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car:“It was a different scenario today with Q1 being the hero run, I guess you could say and ending with Q3 tomorrow looking like that, as well. You have to be ready to stomp on the pedal pretty early in the day. It’s different but it’s the same idea, right? The heat definitely is getting to me a little bit. Just trying to stay hydrated is the most important part but you definitely feel it in the car, and down track when you get out. It plays a factor but the key is to not let it play as much of a factor as it wants to. “The run Q1 run was good and clean. It was hot so we didn’t know what to expect. I go out there and the Cornwell Tools Chevy is running clean, and I remember about half track, like this thing’s running good. It’s going to make it. And then I felt it kind of start spinning in a twist, and I was like, ‘oh, it’s not gonna make it.’ I heard it click itself off and coast but I knew we had made it pretty far down track, so I knew it was gonna be pretty quick. So, we’ll take that 4.01 and do better tomorrow” Quote from Josh Hart, Burnyzz Speed Shop / Speedmaster Top Fuel Dragster:“Yeah, that first run was a little sketchy. The Burnyzz Speed Shop / Speedmaster dragster got out there and thought we were gonna make it. It started off pretty smooth, and then just hazed the tire. Nothing good is going to happen on a hot track after something like that takes place. So, in the second run, we dropped a cylinder early but we knew we needed to get down the track. So, we chugged it along there shut it off a little bit early but still threw a blower belt. I think we’re sitting fourth or fifth so we’ll be okay and get another shot at it tomorrow.” Quote from Alexis DeJoria, Bandero Premium Tequila Chevrolet SS:“The conditions are super hot. I mean, it’s ridiculous. Lanny (Miglizzi), our track specialist, said the track temp would probably get to about 150. That being said, John Force came over before Q1 and said, ‘Just get it down there any way you can. Obviously, it gets too crazy, you know, shut it off, and we’ll race another time. Uh, but you know what you’re doing.’ Just be careful.’ I said,’ Okay … deal.’ I was on a good run but I guess it dropped a cylinder early and started to spin the tires at the top end. I was legging it out because, if it’s at the top end, you still have momentum and I could still handle it. All of a sudden, it just shot to the left because of the dropped cylinder but I stayed in it just to get it down to the top end and that got us in the show. We have two more runs tomorrow and the conditions will still be super hot but I’ve got mad faith in Bandero Chevy this team.”

You are running a throwback this weekend. Talk a little bit about that, how that came together and the history behind that…“Yeah, so it was Chili’s idea that kind of came to me. They were like, is there any scheme you want to run? This was last year… they were like, we want to run a throwback. Instantly, I was like, I want to run the Bud No. 8. I thought it was perfect. But then they were like, well, we kind of want to go with this cowboy theme… what about this? So it was all their idea. I didn’t understand for a minute because I was like, blue and yellow, that doesn’t really work with your colors. But once they kind of explained it, their thought process, they just really wanted the picture recreated and fit in their cowboy theme with ‘Ride the Dente’ and everything. It made a lot of sense for their side. Yeah, it turned out cool. I listened to Dale Jr.’s podcast and everything. That’s his favorite scheme. I kind of laughed… I was like, cool, I at least get to run somewhat of a Dale Jr. scheme because he ran that in the Busch race at Daytona. I just kind of laughed about that from my era. That’s where I recognize the scheme the most from when I was born. I don’t have the greatest appreciation for the Dale Sr. scheme because it was a long time after that I was born. But, yeah, obviously, it’s super cool to run the scheme.” Obviously, the Dale Earnhardt comparisons with you are nothing new. You’ve heard a lot about it by now. Do you plan this weekend with Darlington being kind of such a classic track for that old-school hard-nosed race that Dale was? Have you thought about maybe, and you can interpret this in any way you want, having the tribute kind of bleed over into maybe the way you’re driving too, like pulling Earnhardt-type moves out there if you get the chance?“I mean, I think I’ve hit enough people already (laughs). I don’t know… I’m just driving how I want to drive. I don’t really love the comparisons of what they turn into. It started by just kind of not apologizing after running into people, basically, and just being really, really aggressive, to turning into kind of the ‘I’m as good as him’. I was like, I don’t know where that came from. So, yeah, I just plan on driving. I’m just hoping I’m fast enough or we’re good enough that we can actually be up front and be relevant, especially with that scheme. But, yeah, I’m just me. I’ve been saying it for a long time. Do you feel like Justin Haley races you any different now in the truck, or maybe do the former Nieces teammates that you have race you different? Is there any difference?“No. It hasn’t really been relevant for my sake. You know, I haven’t really got a chance to race my teammates. You know, they’re starting that RAM deal and they haven’t been super-fast yet or anything, so I haven’t been around Justin (Haley). I think me and Ross (Chastain) race each other really hard, but I think he’s known for racing everybody hard so I’m not getting any special treatment or anything. But no, I don’t know. I was off doing stuff, and I was busy. I didn’t even know Daniel (Suarez) and Ross got into it, if I’m being honest. So that was news to me.” Kind of following up on that, have you in the past, not asking names, have you had teammates you just flat don’t get along with, for any reason? And then, if you’re going to give me a ‘yes’, how do you navigate that?“Well, for my sake, there’s been a lot of turnover. You know, even with Niece (Motorsports), like I don’t think I’ve had anybody more than one year. And even on the Cup side, I don’t think I’ve had anybody more than one year, except now Michael (McDowell). I just kind of do my own thing anyways. Even if we’re not buddy-buddy, per se, I probably don’t talk to him as much as Daniel does. Like Daniel and Michael, they get along super well on the prep side because they look at a lot of data, and I look at no data. I have my own way of looking at it. I really like watching real cars go around in circles. So with that, even at the superspeedways this year, we’ve been good and it’s the best on-track feel I’ve had with teammates. Daniel’s a really good helper, been a good supporter and fit that kind of role of being a team helper here. I’m really buying into that. So I’ve appreciated him for that. But, no, I haven’t really had that be an issue yet or anything. You know, there’s just been a lot of turnover in Trucks, and even in Cup, the seats next to me have kind of been a revolving door.” On the throwback scheme, this year the pause button has been hit and they kind of left it up to everybody and there was no emphasis to do it. But as someone who loves the history of the sport and appreciates it, was it important for you to continue this?“I really wanted to do one. But, no, this was their idea even before throwback weekend went away. I felt like this one made a lot of sense for them, just because they specifically bought this race kind of with that in mind, so this was important to them. And also, too, when it all stops and everybody goes away, you’re then kind of the only one running a throwback or a lot less emphasis and you can kind of stand out more, which is good for a brand and their idea, I have to imagine.” Did you guys communicate with Dale (Earnhardt Jr.) or anyone from the family at all to say, hey, we have this idea? Is there some things you want to contribute to it, or do you surprise them with it and he kind of sees it when we all do?“Yeah, it was kind of a surprise to me a little bit on some of the things. But I meant to text them and I was like, ah, it’s a little too far out… let me get the scheme and everything and let me send them a picture. They were going to do it. But, yeah, I just kind of wanted to send it to Dale Jr. because me and him have that relationship and just kind of be like, man, what do you think of this? Do you think it’s cool? And, honestly, Darlington just kind of just snuck up on me. I forgot how quickly it happened. You know, once you get racing a season and everything comes up so fast that it was like, oh, shoot… like it’s already going to be announced with a photo shoot or whatever.Otherwise, I would have texted him, but I just honestly forgot.” We’ve seen a lot of projections for this weekend coming out of the sim of what we think this race is going to look like. What have you experienced in the sim and what is your projection for Sunday?“My sim has me wide-open in (turn) one and two all day long. So, it’s a lot of grip. If that’s right, I think we’ve got them covered (laughs). No, honestly, I think it’s going to be tough. I think it will be fun to watch. I’m curious. I think, hopefully, that there’s some guys or teams that miss the setup and hopefully we’re on the right end of it. I think it will spread out a lot. I can foresee that. Qualifying is going to be important. I mean, we saw it in Las Vegas — when there’s no cautions, it’s kind of old school. There’s about 17 cars on the lead lap and that’s all that’s left. But, you know, it’s all you’re racing… 17 cars because they never get a chance to get back on the lead lap. So, I can foresee this being similar or more aggressive and that there just might not be a lot of cautions. And, you know, everybody’s fighting their race cars, so the really, really good guys can just kind of pull by everybody.” I wanted to look ahead a couple of weeks to Rockingham. I know a lot of Cup Series drivers are looking forward to a weekend off, but it looks like you’re going to be in the truck for that. Just wanted to gauge, what’s your experience level there? What are you looking forward to the most about competing in that event?“I’ve never ran a lap around Rockingham, so I’m excited to go do it. I’m excited to just go run laps around there. It’s been a cool track that I’ve always wanted to race at. It’ll be fun to get a whole weekend that I get to just get to go run a truck. You don’t have to worry about the Cup car or where you are in points or anything. I can just go out there and hopefully beat up on the Truck field a little bit. That’s our goal, at least.” You said you learn differently than Daniel Suarez and Michael McDowell. I’m kind of curious, is it more of watching video and former YouTube stuff? Because when I talk to Connor Zilisch and Jesse Love, they really watch old videos to kind of hone their craft…“Yeah, I just really can’t take anything away from SMT. If they shut it off for everybody, I wouldn’t go any slower. But I think others would, so I think it would help me. I get the most out of watching old races or even older races, really. You just see stuff, and I just kind of compare weird things. I was at COTA one week, and I was comparing it to Martinsville for one corner of how I wanted my car, which sounds really weird for a lot of people that are new to our shop. That’s just kind of how I operate. I feel like I can take anything from anything. I watch old races, but I just live with late-2000s Cup races on my TV the whole time. I feel like somewhere or another, I’ll learn something from something I see or watch and can attach it to today, but then you watch the current races or current cars. But yeah, I just don’t get a lot from data and squiggly lines. It doesn’t really make sense to me. It never really has worked for me, but for others, it does. Daniel and other drivers, they get a lot out of it. They live and die by it almost, Everybody has their own way to do it.” Looking at old videos, did you kind of attract yourself to the ‘Earnhardt Mystique’?“As a kid, I watched every documentary ever. I watched the Tony (Stewart) documentary; the Kasey Kahne one, the Dale (Earnhardt) Jr. back in the day, and then obviously all the Dale (Earnhardt Sr.) documentaries. But also, all the Race Hub and Speed exclusives, that’s all I watched. I didn’t really watch cartoons. That’s what I watched. I just felt like they did a really good job when I was growing up of having all that available and for kids or people to be able to learn. So that’s what I did.” To kind of follow up then on your video watching, is that kind of how you’re going to prepare yourself for the Rockingham since you’ve never been around that track?“A little bit, maybe. Yeah, I’ve just watched it for so long. But I was there in person and watched the Truck race and the O’Reilly’s race, so I think I have a good idea of how to get around that place. But I’ve got however long in practice to figure it out. I’m looking forward to just kind of going there blind and enjoying it. It’s my game of golf, per se, that I just get to go enjoy it with zero pressure.”

No. 31 Cadillac Wins Pole for 74th Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring

SEBRING, Fla. (March 20, 2026) – Jack Atiken and the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R run by Action Express Racing won the pole for the 74th running of the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring.
Atiken’s lap of 1:46.153 secured Cadillac’s sixth pole position at Sebring.
“It’s one of the more fun sessions of the year,” Atiken said. “I love this track, we love this track. It’s usually been pretty kind to us, but equally we had a near miss last year so we kind of want to come back and claim it as our own. I loved it. The Whelen Cadillac was flying, and it gave me a lot of confidence.
“I don’t think anyone gets a perfect lap around here as it’s a really tough track, but we were closest. We’re over the moon, but we still have some homework to do tonight, we’ve got plenty of competition and some of the other guys are very quick especially on the long runs. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.”

Filipe Albuquerque, driver of the No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R qualified third with a lap of 1:46.298, while Louis Deletraz, driver of the No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R qualified fifth with a lap of 1:46.421.
Cadillac Racing has recorded five overall victories, including three in a row (2021-2023), and finished runner-up in 2024 and 2018 in the races at Sebring since joining IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship prototype competition in 2017.
The 2023 victory by the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R – in Aitken’s second IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship start – came from the pole. The No. 31 entry campaigned by Action Express Racing also earned the pole in 2024.

Jack Aitken, No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R run by Action Express Racing: Q. Obviously you look at the times there, there’s not quite 3/10ths first to fourth. Top nine within a second. What did you have to do to get the pole here today? How competitive do you expect this field to be? “Very. From what we saw in practice, it was some really quick cars out there. We were up there. I think we were trying to find a little bit of something, especially as the conditions were cooling off. It’s one of the coolest Sebring’s that we’ve had for a few years. Just getting the tire to work with you is a bit of a job. We know that we’re relatively strong in qualifying. Again, I have a fantastic car. The Whelen Cadillac was giving me a lot of confidence. It’s a really tough lap around here, so I don’t think anybody gets a perfect lap, but we were closest. It’s a lot of fun. I enjoyed it a lot. We’re going to keep doing our homework tonight and expect we’re going to have some stiff competition tomorrow.” Q. A lot of GTP teams have been not concerned but cautious about the tires usage this weekend because there’s 11 sets. Same number as last year. With the new tire and everything, does that cross your mind?“Yeah, it’s always a concern. The way the race runs, it kind of pushes you to a double stint early in the race when it’s hot, which is pretty unpleasant. We’ve had to do it in previous years, and it’s not been a major issue. It’s been unpleasant for everybody, but you’re all in the same boat. This year we are going into a bit of the unknown because nobody has pushed that much mileage on the tire in practice this weekend. We’ll see. I’m sure it will be fine. The new Michelin has been a pretty nice little upgrade from the previous tire, fixed a few issues that we had. I wouldn’t expect the degradation is going to be especially worse. Like I said, it’s been one of the coolest Sebring’s, so that’s going to help us as well just to control the tire temps.”
Q. Have you guys or JOTA done any long runs on the new tire in testing before?“We have. But not at Sebring. And Sebring is a pretty brittle track for that. Personally I’m expecting it to go in a similar vein to previous years, but we’ll be prepared if it looks like it’s going to go sideways late in the double stint.”
Q. How much more do you think you had in that?“In a perfect world where I get tons of laps with the tire at its peak, there’s probably another half second in there, realistically. Like I said, it’s a really tough lap because of the bumps. The way you have to set the car up around here is going to be a bit on a knife-edge. Going through turn one, sunset, even today we got a big tailwind going through 15 and 16, it’s really tough to keep the car on the track and four wheels going in the right direction. I think we saw a few spins from previous sessions. It’s going to be the same up and down the grid. Everybody will have a similar story, I’m sure.”
Q. Daytona, a lot of y’all talk about qualifying doesn’t seem to matter as much. Is it a different story here? Does qualifying matter more here?“Maybe matters twice as much. 24 hours to a 12-hour (smiling). But still not a lot. No, I think it’s going to be fairly inconsequential. It’s lovely to be on pole. It’s nice to show how the team is working, putting out a good car, to get the bragging rights on some points. At the end of the day, we started last in ’25 because of an issue, and we were into the lead in less than two hours with the help of yellows and stuff. It’s kind of neither here nor there. We saw a lot of cars further down the grid were very quick in night practice and over longer runs yesterday. Fully expect they’re going to make their way through, as well.”
Q. At the end of Daytona, you were incredibly upset with how close you were. How do you put that behind you, turn the page?“Luckily I was over it a week or two after (smiling). It always hurts immediately after because you just get out the car, there’s lots of ifs, woulds, maybes. I think realistically, looking back at the race with the benefit of hindsight, the winners did a fantastic job over the whole race and were fairly dominant. We did well to run them as close as we did. This a whole new weekend. I’m not really carrying any of that baggage or anything like that.”Q. How confident are you in the pace when the Porsches were kind of showing their hand, being quickest in the practices leading up until today?“I think, like I said earlier, we know that we’re relatively strong in qualifying. It’s been the trend over previous years. Even with the Evo upgrades and stuff we have working on the car now, I think it seems to be similar. One and a half pole positions this year. I’ll say two (smiling). I’ve still got the trophy. Definitely we’re aware of how strong some of the other cars are, like the ones you mentioned. They don’t show any signs of dropping out of the fight. If anything, they tend to somehow get quicker as the weekend goes on. I’m not taking much stock from what we’ve just seen in qualifying. I believe they’ll be right there from quite early in the race. We’ve got some homework to do still I think to find what we need to win this thing. That’s all we can do, yeah.”

Filipe Albuquerque, No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R: “I’m very happy with the performance in qualifying. P3. Obviously we wanted to be P1, but I think it shows we have been evolving the outright performance of our car at Wayne Taylor Racing. What is crazy is what a difference a year makes in understanding the Cadillac V-Series.R. I’ve been confident the whole weekend. We’ve been finetuning the car and I’ve been enjoying the work process within the team before the result. Our results were good; I missed pole position by a tenth or so. We will take that for the 12 hours, especially at Sebring where the conditions are so different plus we’ll be racing in the night. So let’s go onto race day.”

Louis Delétraz, No. 40 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing V-Series.R: “We qualified top five for Sebring and again for Sebring it’s not the most important as it’s a 12 Hour race. We worked hard on the race car and we’re pretty happy and confident for the race tomorrow. The car feels good on the bumps and we have full focus on the race with no mistakes and try to move forward.”

CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: Pushing Ahead

Corvette Racing program going for 13 class victories in 12 Hours SEBRING, Fla. (March 20, 2026) – Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports’ two Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs will line up one behind the other Saturday for the start of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in the drive for a 13th class victory in America’s oldest sports car race.

Antonio Garcia was the quickest Corvette driver in Friday’s 15-minute qualifying session in the red-white-and-blue No. 3 Z06 GT3.R. His lap of 1:59.295 (112.862 mph) placed him sixth on the grid in the Corvette he will share with Alexander Sims and Marvin Kirchhöfer. Not too far behind in eighth was Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette that he will drive with Nicky Catsburg and Nico Varrone after a lap of 1:59.465 (112.702 mph).

Of note, Garcia and Milner both will make their 20th career starts in the 12 Hours. Both Corvettes were within a second of the class pole-winner but rarely does qualifying matter at a race as long or as grueling as Sebring. There certainly is enough experience to fall back on with Corvette Racing being a constant at the race dating back to 1999. Sebring, which has been the site of 14 class victories for the program – a dozen coming in the 12 Hours. Each came from the two-car Corvette Racing factory team operated by Pratt Miller. In GTD, Salih Yoluc qualified 10th in class behind the wheel of DXDT Racing’s No. 36 Corvette. He posted a best lap of 2:00.974 (111.279 mph) lap that was less than one-tenth of a second off teammate and Corvette factory driver Charlie Eastwood’s best lap from Thursday’s practice sessions. 13 Autosport’s Orey Fidani set a best lap in qualifying of 2:02.298 (110:074 mph) in the qualifying session, just ahead of Henrik Hedman for DragonSpeed, which will race its No. 81 Corvette for just the second time and first time at Sebring. CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R QUALIFYING DRIVER QUOTESANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Qualifying in a way does matter here because any time you are not on pole, it’s not great. But I would say that we maximized what we had. In the practice sessions we made some steady progress, which is good. The car in qualifying behaved how we expected. There were no big surprises. We were just down on pace. I would say night practice Thursday was already mayhem with people acting like it was the race. So I’m sure it will be the same tomorrow night to the end, so let’s see.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I don’t think we’re not quite where we need to be for the race. We had a very good car Thursday in the morning and the afternoon, and then in the nighttime it got away from us a little bit. We made some small changes that we thought would be in the right direction, and suitable for qualifying, but we’re still just a little bit out of the window. Not unhappy by any means but if I think about a car that we want to have for the race, we’re not quite there yet so we need to do a little bit of work with the engineers and make some small tweaks and then I think we’ll be back to where we were yesterday. I didn’t have it quite as bad as Antonio in night practice last night, but I have been in his situation before and I know exactly what he was going through. I anticipate a lot more of those moments. It will be a very typical Sebring with how we race with the prototype cars and where their strengths are and where our strengths are. It leads to some dicey moments but I’m ready and prepared for them.”

SALIH YOLUC, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m generally content with how qualifying went. I left a couple or three-tenths on the table, but I don’t think it would have changed our position much. So it’s an OK position to start. I do think we have a much better racecar than we do a car for qualifying. We are much closer to the front of the field in race trim, and I do think we have a good chance to move forward in the race.”

Brody Brown Capitalizing on Opportunity as Hafertepe’s New Crewman

Teenage former Micro Sprint racer gets seal of approval from six-time Series champion

CONCORD, NC (March 19, 2026) — Imagine at 16 years old, packing up your life, going to school online, and moving to Texas to become a crew member on a national Sprint Car racing team.

That’s the story of the newest employee at Hill’s Racing Team, Brody Brown.

The former Micro Sprint and 360 Sprint Car pilot from Lawton, OK, has traded his own steering wheel for a set of wrenches in 2026, converting from a driver to a full-time crew member for six-time and defending American Sprint Car Series champion Sam Hafertepe Jr. Together, they lead the points standings after the first seven races and boast the highest average finish (5.0) of any of the nine championship chasers.

Between 360 and 410 Sprint Car competition, Brown and Hafertepe have spent only 12 races together through the first two-and-a-half months of the year. But their professional relationship has blossomed, making good of the opportunity Brown had hoped for and producing the consistent results Hafertepe needs to make a run for another championship.

“I’ve enjoyed it, and I think we have had the good, strong runs — maybe not the wins that we want, but I think we’ve got a good direction going,” Brown said. “I feel like we’ve been consistent in the speed of our racecar, especially going to two places so far that are a little bit different than we’ll see all year with ASCS.”

And the boss agrees.

“Every week, [Brown] works side-by-side with me and learns certain intricate things the way I like them, and his skills just continue to get better,” Hafertepe said. “I haven’t had to teach him a whole lot of things — he has the know-how on a lot of stuff — just more so teaching him the way I like to do things.”

Starting in Outlaw Karts in the late 2010s, Brown later joined the ranks of Oklahoma’s competitive Micro Sprint scene before his full-size Sprint Car debut in 2023. Since then, he’s contested events in both the 305 and 360 cubic-inch divisions, including an appearance with the American Sprint Car Series at Salina Highbanks Speedway in April 2025.

It was during those steps up through the open-wheel ladder that Brown began to forge his mechanical capabilities and garnered a knack for both the steering wheel and the wrench.

“Whenever I raced myself, I did both sides of it,” Brown said. “I did pretty much all the shop work by myself and then had people at the racetrack to help me, but I felt like I lacked a lot of knowledge on that front, and that was an opening where I felt like I could get a lot farther in the sport working on that side of things, especially working for a guy like Sam.”

Though he came in with some skills, Brown has since molded them to fit Hafertepe’s championship-winning program, be it preparation in the shop during the week or at-track maintenance.

“There’s a lot of things you can do to be flashy in this sport, but the attention to detail is really important,” Brown said. “That’s something that I have understood with people in the past that I’ve worked with or been taught by. But Sam really brings that to a new front for me.

“It makes sense to why he’s been so successful for so long in our industry. Just doing that and trying to be successful but understanding that it takes a team working together to do that. It’s gratifying.”

It’s only year one, and Brown has no plans of ditching the grind of a new adventure. He’s in for the long haul on a path to bettering the future of Sprint Car racing with his youthful involvement.

“I made a commitment to Sam for the year because that’s what he asked,” Brown said. “Whenever you do this deal, it’s something that you want to have a guy for at least a year. You never want to have to change up crew guys mid-season; it doesn’t work well for the morale or flow of a race team.

“This is for sure a this-year thing and would like to keep it going into the future.”

And again, the boss concurs.

“Most people that young don’t have that much knowledge at that age, so he’s definitely far advanced beyond them,” Hafertepe said. “As long as he has the desire to keep going, he should do well.”

The American Sprint Car Series returns to racing on Saturday, April 11 at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, OK. Tickets for the event will be sold at the track on race day.

THE MONTH AHEAD: April Brings Major Midwestern Swing

April is on the horizon and ready to bring a major midwestern swing for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

After taking Easter weekend off, The Greatest Show on Dirt will tackle some of the baddest bullrings in the country before finalizing the month at one of the country’s most iconic half miles in preparation for the biggest race of the year.

I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park | Federated Auto Parts Spring Classic (April 10-11): When it comes to Sprint Car racing, it doesn’t get much better than I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park. The 3/8 mile routinely serves up blistering 10-second laps in Qualifying before slicking off and widening out to produce some of the most thrilling racing fans will ever see.

The tour makes its annual spring visit to the Pevely, MO track with August’s return trip for the grueling Ironman 55 awaiting down the road. Carson Macedo and Logan Schuchart split victories in last year’s Spring Classic.
