BAGGSY UNVEILS THE ULTIMATE TOYOTA GR COROLLA DRIFT CAR

Introducing the new 1,000HP Toyota GR Corolla drift car, with all eyes and headlights set for its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Drift, build, hustle, repeat.
Few people know more about building cars and shredding tyres than Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni. In fact, if it’s worth knowing, chances are he already does.
And here we are with the latest project of his, Baggsy has officially unleashed his latest party animal in the form of… a hatchback?

Make no mistake, the already impressive Toyota GR Corolla has now evolved into a real engineering marvel and set to stun the community once more.
In the SB Motorsport stable we have the Liberty Walk V8 Nissan GT-R, the world’s first R35 GT-R-powered Nissan Navara-R pick-up truck, the rowdy supercharged V8 Nissan PS13 and the 2JZ-powered GT86 competition drift car – not to mention the fleet of BMW M3s and Nissan 350Zs.
But according to Baggsy, that’s not enough…

“Pulling the covers off this GR Corolla drift car is a moment I’ve been waiting a long time for. What you see today is the result of countless late nights, relentless problem-solving, and our team’s obsession with getting every last detail exactly right.
Like any ambitious build, there were challenges along the way, plenty of moments that tested us, and more than a few occasions where we wondered what we’d taken on. But every hurdle only made us more determined to create something truly special.
Seeing the finished car sitting exactly as we’d imagined it all those months ago is such an incredible feeling. The GR Corolla gave us an outstanding platform to start with, and the addition of the legendary 2JZ engine package by DY Engine Services has transformed it into a fire breathing machine that’s ready to make some serious noise at Goodwood.
Now, the hard work is done, the covers are off, and the fun really begins. I can’t wait to fire it up, get it sideways, and show what this car can do at one of the world’s biggest stage.”

Baggsy’s GR Corolla build is a real example and showcase of community spirit, bringing together some of the industry’s top talents for the latest poster car.
Check it out:
Toyota’s legendary 2JZ engine has been fully built by DY Engine Services using the best parts from JDM Garage to get the best results, like ARP studs and bolts. Tuned to 1,115BHP and 798NM, these figures were achieved with the Garrett G40-1150 turbocharger, regulated by Turbosmart’s PowerGate 60 wastegate.
Walton Motorsport’s 2JZ exhaust manifold was the perfect piece to connect the engine while Vibrant Performance HD boost clamps kept everything locked in.
Baggsy asked his followers where the exhaust should run to and the majority voted to see it out the bonnet (much to Ian Waddington’s dismay), so the SB Motorsport duly obliged.
baggsyboyukThe biggest transformation yet. 👀 Our 1000BHP GR Corolla finally gets the Pandem widebody, but with Goodwood Festival of Speed just days away, the pressure is well and truly…
The DY-2JZ engine’s beverage of choice is Sunoco’s E85R 104 RON Race Fuel (this beast loves a good octane) with a Radium Engineering fuel system – their FCST-X drop-in fuel cell surge tank eliminating any risk of fuel starvation. ASNU 1650cc injectors and a K&N performance air filter completes the GR Corolla’s drift-ready powertrain.
Keeping it all cool is a custom intercooler and radiator by Forge Motorsport, supported by Funk Motorsport heat management. Sparco’s got it covered for any unauthorised flames with plumbed-in and handheld extinguishers.
The GR Corolla is geared up with Quaife’s 69G 6-speed sequential gearbox mated to a Comp1 twin-disc clutch, while the Sikky x Winters quick-change differential, custom GR subframe and a fully built SW Motorsports cage provide the stability for Baggsy to lay down those leading lines.
Ensuring ultimate precision in any direction (mostly sideways though, mind) is ST Suspension’s XTA plus 3 coilover kit and FDF Raceshop’s lockout kit. Keeping Baggsy locked in is Sparco’s Circuit II bucket seat with a 6-point harness.
HEL Performance brake lines and Stauff hydraulic power steering lines offer all the feels and responsiveness, while EBC Racing’s big brake kit and provide the stopping power.
The brains behind the operation include a Link FuryX ECU and ECUMaster PMU-24 DL, perfect for all the mapping, data logging and beep-booping required to keep the car running tip-top. Keeping everything powered is Yuasa’s YBX500 Series battery, their dependable battery for high performance vehicle whatever the weather.
The Rocket Bunny Pandem widebody aero kit gives the GR Corolla such an insane presence. The width, the aggression, the wing! It is outrageous. The aesthetics doesn’t stop there though, a fresh body with new Seibon carbon parts needs some fresh kicks for the ultimate look.
STRÖM understood the assignment and came through with a bespoke, custom forged wheel design just for Baggsy. Wrapped in Accelera’s tried and tested 651 Sport semi-slick tyres, the Corolla is ready for the track.
Weight shedding comes in the form of polycarbonate to replace the windows. So it’s out with the glass and in with the Plastics 4 Performance lightweight Lexan Polycarbonate.
The awe-inspiring design of Baggsy’s latest drift machine is courtesy of Fleet Livery Solutions, using high-quality Arlon vinyl to achieve that jaw-dropping look.
After many late nights, copious amounts of pizza consumed, Monster Energy becoming part of our body mass, after countless questions asked in the mirror, it’s finally done. And boy, was it worth it! 😍
We hope you love it as much as we do! Now, we have a certain hillclimb to shred…
Goodwood – we’ll see you there.
