Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (March 17, 2026) – Dominic Scelzi is planning to kick off the 2026 racing season this weekend at Watsonville Speedway.
Assuming he is cleared this week by his doctor following an off-season surgery, Scelzi will invade the bullring in Watsonville, Calif. – formerly known as Ocean Speedway – on Friday. It was the site of his first career sprint car win in 2012 and he’s been to Victory Lane at the dirt oval eight times, including trips in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
“I’m eager to get the season started and I’m excited to head to Watsonville,” he said. “Things definitely look different this year. My plans are to race when we can, how we can, where we can. I am focused on getting back to Victory Lane as often as possible and on building on how we ran at the end of last year.”
Scelzi is aiming to compete in approximately 50 races along the West Coast, including the events with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing. Some of the marquee events he’ll tackle include the Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup, the Skagit Nationals and the Fred Brownfield 360 Nationals at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.; the Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif.; the Dennis Roth Classic at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif.; and the Trophy Cup at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.
“We’re focusing on quality over quantity,” he said. “We want to do the best we can when we show up. We’ll go to each race with the intention of being as fast as we can and growing our program. I’m optimistic about this season.”
Scelzi enters the season riding an 11-year winning streak, including multiple triumphs during each of the last nine seasons.
