Inside Line Promotions – STOCKTON, Calif. (April 4, 2022) – Dominic Scelzi produced a second-place showing last Saturday during the opening round of the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series season.
The defending series champion put himself in contention from the start of the night by setting quick time during qualifying of the 25 competitors at Stockton Dirt Track. A run from fourth to second in a heat race locked Scelzi into the dash, which he won to garner the pole position for the 3 rd annual Asparagus Cup feature.

“I felt good and we were fast all night,” he said. “They reworked the track right before the feature. We won the start, but hit a little grease and slid up in turns three and four. Colby Copeland drove around me and I couldn’t get him back. We had good speed and balance, but we ran second to him all race. It’s a good way to start a points season.”
The second-place result ranks Scelzi second – only two points out of the lead – in the championship standings heading into the next round of action this Saturday when Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., hosts the Anthony Simone Classic.
“We’re really looking forward to getting back to Keller Auto Speedway, where we’ve enjoyed a lot of success,” Scelzi said. “I think if we can keep qualifying well and putting ourselves in contention like we did last Saturday we’ll earn our share of wins this year.”
Scelzi scored a second-place result during a 360ci winged sprint car race at Keller Auto Speedway in February. He captured eight feature victories at the track last year.
