Why You Should Stop What You’re Doing Right Now and Vote for Greg Anderson to Race in the K&N Horsepower Challenge

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 26, 2015) – The clock is ticking, and Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson needs your help. Anderson has competed in the prestigious K&N Horsepower Challenge 11 times but is at risk of missing this year’s event. Cast your vote for Greg Anderson online at: nhra.com/knhpchallenge.aspx

The K&N Horsepower Challenge is a shootout competition for NHRA Pro Stock drivers that will be held at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas. The first seven positions are determined by qualifying points earned at NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events, and the eighth and final position is decided by fan vote. Voting ends in just a few days, at 11:59pm ET on Sunday, March 29, 2015.

Here’s why you should vote for Greg Anderson to race in the 2015 K&N Horsepower Challenge:

Last season, the veteran Pro Stock driver missed the K&N Horsepower Challenge for the first time in 12 years as he was sidelined while recovering from heart surgery.
It was a real “heartbreaker” for the four-time world champ to have to sit out the bonus race that all Pro Stock racers look forward to all year long. Anderson qualified well leading up to last year’s event and had a reserved spot for the 2014 shootout, but a successful recovery took top priority. Had Anderson not been sidelined those first few races last year, he would have been assured a spot to race in the 2015 K&N Horsepower Challenge. Long recovered now and healthier than ever, Anderson does not want to miss this special event again.

Anderson is racing better and stronger than ever.
After returning to the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour following heart surgery, Anderson proved that he was in the best shape of his life, both mentally and physically. The now 54-year-old established himself as one of the top starting-line racers in the category, an accolade typically handed to drivers half his age, and he scored a collection of round-wins based on his starting line efficiency. Anderson was, perhaps, the hungriest driver out there – and that hunger hasn’t yet been satisfied.

His Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is a car that can win.
How do we know? Because less than two weeks ago he blasted past the competition at the Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals to claim the 75th national event win of his career. Anderson is now tied with Pat Austin on the all-time win list and is just 10 event wins behind legendary Pro Stock competitor Bob Glidden. Anderson claims that his victory, a win that ended a 60-race drought, was due in large part to the smooth and blistering-fast red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro, a car that the team debuted at the Gainesville event.

It Feels Like Home
No other currently competing driver has raced in the Pro Stock shootout more than Anderson, and his 11 starts have produced four wins in seven final rounds in the event now known as the K&N Horsepower Challenge. Anderson won the event in 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2011, and he was a finalist seven times in nine years, from 2003 to 2011.
