Line Focused on Third Win of the Season for Summit Racing at NHRA Four-Wide

MOORESVILLE, N.C., March 25, 2015 – Jason Line has been a front-runner in the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock points since day one of the season, and at current time there are just seven points between the ever-ambitious Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro driver and the top spot. As tempting as it is, however, Line isn’t counting points. The season is young, and with this weekend’s 6th annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Concord’s esteemed zMAX Dragway on his radar, Line is only focused on one thing: continuing a winning trend for the KB Racing team.

“We had a very good test session with my Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson’s Chevrolet Camaro last week, and the track seemed to be very good,” said Line, of the recently refinished surface at zMAX Dragway. “And Team Summit has momentum going into this race, which is very good. We’ve got momentum, and we’ve got a lot of really good things coming up, so it’s a very exciting time for us. When we look back at the first three races of this year, we can all say that they’ve been very fun. That’s a great thing, too. Sometimes, the fun goes missing when you do this for a living. But I can certainly say that this team is rejuvenated. We’re having a good time, we’re enjoying racing, and this weekend we look for that to continue.”

Collectively, the Jason Line/Greg Anderson Summit Racing powerhouse has amassed 111 national event trophies. Notably, Anderson earned his 75th national event win in Gainesville two weeks ago. Line’s most recent win was at the season-opening 2015 NHRA Winternationals in Pomona.

“It’s important that we win races. That’s what we’re supposed to do,” said Line, a 36-time Pro Stock winner twice crowned world champion. “We want to make our team owners, Ken and Judy Black, happy – and we want to represent our sponsor, Summit Racing Equipment, well. If we don’t win, we feel like we let everybody down. As time goes on, you realize just how hard it is to win, and what a big deal it is. We got a real boost two weeks ago when Greg won in Gainesville, and we’re having a good year that we hope to make even better. Everybody on the KB Racing team is very motivated to continue what we’ve started.”

The Summit Racing Pro Stock team looks to continue their season of success at the spectacular four-across extravaganza this weekend, a race that Line has yet to win but in which he has one runner-up, in 2010. Overall, Line has one win in five final rounds at the Charlotte-area racetrack with a trophy scored at the fall race in 2012.

The zMAX Dragway facility itself is one where Line has been quite fast. He currently holds the track record for speed, a whopping 213.91 mph set in the spring of 2012. At the most recent event held in Concord, the fall NHRA Carolina Nationals in 2014, Line set low e.t. and top speed of the meet with a 6.533-second pass at 210.93 mph before the event was halted and moved to a Dallas completion due to weather and conditions. He was runner-up in the Texas finish.

“It’s definitely an exciting time for us,” said Line, who resides in the nearby Mooresville area. “We always like this race, not just because it’s such a great place to race, but also because we’re surrounded by family and friends – and it’s always good to sleep in your own bed at the end of the day. We’ll have a lot of folks from Minnesota coming down to the race to get out of the cold weather up there, and it should be a fun time. One thing is for sure: I feel very fortunate to be in this position. This is a good place to be.”
