Line Elevated by Overall Performance at Mile-High Nationals

DENVER, Colo., July 20, 2014 – The 35th annual Mile-High NHRA Nationals moved to the top of favored races this weekend for Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Jason Line. The Mooresville, N.C.-based driver was in command of a very powerful car as he put his Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro on the pole and then blasted through eliminations en route to a semifinals finish. The ending to the weekend was a bit earlier than he had hoped, but Line could hardly hang his head over the powerful performance at one of the most challenging racetracks on NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour.

ROBERT HIGHT’S WIN CAPS DOMINANT WEEKEND FOR JFR

DENVER, CO — John Force Racing had three chances to win the Mopar Mile High NHRA Nationals today. For the first time since debuting the Castrol EDGE Top Fuel dragster in 2013 JFR had two Funny Cars in the final round and Brittany Force in the Top Fuel final. Funny Car No. 2 qualifier Robert Hight outran a tire smoking No. 1 qualifier John Force in the Funny Car final, 4.166 seconds to 5.953 seconds, setting the stage for a JFR double-up win. Unfortunately the third time was not the charm and Brittany Force was bested by JR Todd in the Top Fuel final.

TORONTO (July 20, 2014) – Mike Conway along with team owner Ed Carpenter made the strategy call of Race Two on the Streets of Toronto for the Verizon IndyCar Series that took Conway and the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet team to Victory Lane. It was the second win of the season for Conway, the third win of the year for the team, the second win of the Toronto Doubleheader weekend for Chevrolet and the eighth IndyCar win of the season for the Bowtie brand.

TORONTO, ONT – It was a competitive race for Butch Leitzinger in the #08 Bentley Continental GT3 today in the Pirelli World Challenge double header in the streets of Toronto. At the end of the thirty-seven minute race, Leitzinger had moved from thirteen to ninth and set a time three tenths off the fastest race lap. It was a weekend of positive progression as the team dialed in the car and found increased speed in each session.

Dewease’s win gave the Pennsylvania Posse a sweep of Summer Nationals and made him the 19th different World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series winner of the season.

DENVER, Colo., July 19, 2014 – Greg Anderson and the Summit Racing team continued to see steady gains on the mountain at the 35th annual Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway. When qualifying was said and done, Anderson had wheeled his Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro to a start from the No. 5 position, his best start all year. He will race Matt Hartford in the first round of eliminations on Sunday.

DENVER, CO – The thunderous sounds of the 8000 horsepower Castrol GTX High Mileage Mustang resonated off the scenic mountains of Morrison, Colorado as John Force once again claimed the No. 1 qualifying spot at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals.

As the fans packed stands a Bandimere Speedway, they were treated to an awesome spectacle and witnessed history as the 16-time NHRA Mello Yello World Champion smashed both ends of the track record with a 4.049 second run at 318.39 mph.

TORONTO, ONT – Butch Letizinger finished 19th in the first race of the Pirelli World Challenge doubleheader on the streets of Toronto early this afternoon in the Bentley Continental GT3. His race came to a premature end on lap 19 of 30 after coming together with another competitor two thirds of the way through the fifty minute race. The car was not badly damaged, and Dyson Racing Team Bentley will be ready for the drop of the green flag for tomorrow’s race.

DENVER, Colo., July 18, 2014 – Jason Line and his Summit Racing team opted not to test their Chevrolet Camaros ahead of the 35th annual Mile-High NHRA Nationals, and their decision to stay back at the race shop instead and work on their engine program proved to be a wise choice on the first day of the event. Line made two swift and impressive runs down the quarter-mile at Bandimere Speedway, clearly unaffected by the thin air of the high-altitude facility, and landed square in the No. 2 spot in the qualifying order.

Although the Summit Racing team always has extremely high expectations, the conditions at the high-altitude Bandimere Speedway pose a serious challenge. On the first day of the event, however, Anderson and the Summit Racing team tackled the tough task and came out in a very good position. Anderson is No. 6 heading into day two of the event.

Hodnett becomes the 18th different World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series winner of the season; Hodnett and Marks give Posse 1-2 finish

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – July 18, 2014 – Greg Hodnett led the Pennsylvania Posse to a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, striking back on night one of the Summer Nationals after Outlaw Daryn Pittman won Thursday night at Lincoln Speedway.

Hodnett, who started the A main in fourth in his Lelands.com/Pasquariello’s Auto Shop car, dominated the second half after getting around Outlaw Joey Saldana and fellow Posse Brent Marks on a restart. Hodnett said the double file restarts that had hurt him the night before at Lincoln, helped him at Williams Grove.

“We’re just fortunate to be standing here,” Hodnett said. “It’s a great field of cars.”
