Engine Woes At Daytona Don’t Dampen Enthusiasm Of Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team

February 23, 2015
For a 21-year-old driver running in just his third career Sprint Cup race, Ryan Blaney showed poise aplenty in Sunday’s Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. And his Jeremy Bullins-led team passed a couple of pit-road tests with flying colors, even as the final results didn’t reflect the positives of the overall performance of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team. Ty Dillon Finishes 28th in First-Career Daytona 500

Racing in his first-career Daytona 500, Ty Dillon drove Circle Sport Racing No. 33 Cheerios/Kroger Chevrolet SS to a 28th-place finish at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Dillon, who qualified 31st for the 57th running of the Daytona 500, started 29th after two teams in front of him were relegated to the back of the field as a penalty for making unapproved changes to their cars. Dillon quickly realized his No. 33 Chevrolet SS had the power necessary to weave his way to the front of the pack and the 22-year-old rookie raced into the top-10 on lap 52 after only two pit stops. On lap 89, Dillon was scored inside the top-five positions. He remained inside there until a caution flag fell on lap 106. For the remainder of the 200-lap event, Dillon cruised in the middle of the pack. On lap 196, the right-front tire went flat and forced him into the outside wall. The damage was repaired by the No. 33 team on three separate trips to pit road returning to action for a green-white-checkered finish, where he was scored 28th when the race ended. KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET SS – FINISHED 34TH
ON THE DAY
“It was a pretty eventful race. I spent the first 80 or so laps, just riding. And then we came down pit for green flag stops. My shifter had broken; and I couldn’t find my shifter and just got confused on pit road and missed my pit box and then sped leaving; so we got down a lap. I was able to get my lap back and we raced hard and then was in 12th or 15th and just got turned off (Turn) 2. But we were all just racing hard there on the last laps. That’s how this racing goes.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona 500 Post Race

So, I’m just excited to be here and heck, I race the car for a living so, things could be a lot worse.
