JOHN FORCE No. 1 ON FRIDAY AT TOYOTA NATIONALS
LAS VEGAS, NV – On Halloween evening, John Force showed the race fans, and the competition, that when he’s not afraid of the competition that might impede his quest for another NHRA Mello Yello world championship. He also proved to his rival drivers that when he’s backed into a corner, he’ll come out swinging – and that’s exactly what he did today during qualifying at the NHRA Toyota Nationals. The 16-time NHRA Mello Yello champion raced the No. 1 spot with a stout 4.039 second run at 318.54 mph in his Castrol GTX High Mileage American In Made Mustang during the second session. Force blazed The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and dispelled any rumors that he may be distracted and not have his head in the game. Continue reading John Force Racing–Las Vegas

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S RED VEST CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Texas Motor Speedway and discussed his special Lowe’s Red Vest paint scheme this weekend at Texas, not being in the 2014 championship title picture and many other topics. Full Transcript:

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE LOWE’S RED VEST PROGRAM AND WHAT YOU HAVE GOING ON TODAY:
“On a funny note (Chad) Knaus (crew chief) is even in one of these (red vests). So everybody should leave here immediately and go see it firsthand themselves. Then on a serious note the red race car and wearing the vest and all the red this weekend in general is really to honor the 260,000 plus employees at Lowe’s, that put on the vest every day and go to work and make all the magic happen in the stores. It’s a cool program. I’m of course having a little fun with it and going to wear the vest and so are the crew guys, but in all seriousness they are what make it all happen and it’s neat to see Lowe’s utilize the relationship from a marketing stand point, but also internally amongst all their employees really kind of worldwide now.”

RYAN NEWMAN, NO. 31 CATERPILLAR CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media today at Texas Motor Speedway. Newman discussed his position in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, his thoughts on this weekend’s race and the season, being aggressive at Texas and other topics. FULL TRANSCRIPT:

WHAT’S YOUR OUTLOOK FOR THIS WEEKEND AT THIS BIG, FAST 1.5-MILE TRACK?
“We’re looking forward to the opportunity. We had a good run going at the first race and caught a windshield tear-off on our splitter, so we had to pit under green and lost a bunch of positions. This is an opportunity to come back here to prove and show the things that we’ve learned as a team and organization since the first race in Texas, and to keep our consistency going with a couple of top-fives and couple of top-10s – and hopefully have some fun with what we’re doing with our Caterpillar Chevrolet.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Texas–Ryan Newman

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DRIVE TO END HUNGER CHEVROLET SS – QUALIFIED 2ND
OUTSIDE FRONT ROW PRETTY CLOSE TO WHERE YOU WANT TO BE FOR SUNDAY:
“It was three incredible laps and a great effort by our Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet team today. All day long we have had a fast race car. It’s awesome to be able to back that up in qualifying. It’s so tricky at a track like this where the tires fall off a little bit and this is an abrasive track, but super-fast. Great conditions and you are just trying to keep up with the adjustments each time you go out. I thought the team did a great job. We were fourth, third and second, so we kept getting better each round and Matt (Kenseth) put up a great lap and I just was off by the tiniest bit. I could go back over that lap now a hundred times and do it over again to try to find that one thousandth or two thousandths of a second.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Texas–Qualifying Notes

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DRIVE TO END HUNGER CHEVROLET SS met with media and discussed the Chase format, the No. 24 teams strengths for winning the title, his current level of confidence, and more. Full Transcript:

IS THIS CHASE FORMAT WHAT FANS WANT? WHAT DO THE FANS REALLY WANT TO SEE IN RACING? IS IT WRECKING? IS IT PASSING? WHAT DO THEY WANT?
“I wish I knew. It seems like whenever I think I know what they want, they seem to ask for something different. I would think they want exciting racing and great tight battles down to the finish. Obviously fans have their favorites and those that they pull for and they want to see them in the mix. So, I love this format. I think this format is amazing. I hope that they like it. I don’t know how you make it any more interesting or any more exciting or tense than what they have. We feel it here in the garage area. I would think that they would sense and feel it. And from a lot of fans that I’ve spoken to, they do. Like at Talladega. They felt that intensity and nervousness. That’s going to happen again as we go through Phoenix coming up here in a couple of weeks.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Texas–Jeff Gordon

When Trevor Bayne and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team hit the track at Texas Motor Speedway, team founder Glen Wood will have one eye on the No. 21 Ford Fusion and the other on the three Ford drivers among the eight in the Eliminator Round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Additionally, Wood likely will be paying more attention to how Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Carl Edwards fare in the championship battle that he did to his own team back in 1963 when it won the owner’s championship in the series now known as Sprint Cup. TALK ABOUT HOW THINGS ARE GOING AND YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE CHANGES TO YOUR TEAM ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK:
“Talladega was just about right. Going into the pits leading, coming out leading and having Jimmie (Johnson) behind me. I knew there wasn’t very much left because I knew that we were not that far off on making it on fuel so I knew it was a pretty short distance. I thought ‘wow this is going to be awesome, me and Jimmie.’ Then I was like ‘and Jimmie has got to win to get in the Chase’, I’m like ‘this could get really messy’. But then the yellow came out, so then it could have gotten a different kind of messy, but we were in a good spot. I think in general things have been going alright. We have been running better here at the end of the season and putting our races together better, I think we had some speed like we have had lately earlier this season, but just weren’t able to fully execute or had either mistakes on my part or failures or mistakes on pit lane that would affect our outcome. In general things have kind of just been coming together a little bit better lately. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Martinsville–Danica Patrick
