Red Horse Racing at Kentucky Speedway

For the 10th race of the 2015 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, teams traveled to Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky for Thursday night’s UNOH 225. Final practice and qualifying were both canceled after persistent showers remained in the area throughout the afternoon. Crews were able to dry the track and the field was set by owner points, per the NASCAR Rule Book. With no laps logged this week at the 1.5-mile facility prior to the race, Timothy Peters started from the 10th position and Ben Kennedy began the race in the 14th position. Peters earned a fifth-place result, and Kennedy recorded a 16th-place finish after contact with another vehicle caused race-ending damage. Continue reading Red Horse Racing–UNOH 225

JAMIE MCMURRAY, NO. 1 CESSNA CHEVROLET SS met with media and discussed the upcoming rules packages, what the goals are to make the racing better, the accident at Daytona, and more. Full Transcript:

TALK ABOUT RACING AT KENTUCKY THIS WEEKEND WITH THE NEW RULES PACKAGE AND HOW YOU THINK YOUR CAR WILL ADAPT TO THAT
“I was part of the tire test here a few months ago. So, I was somewhat looking forward to coming back because we did get to spend three days here on the track. It will be certainly a little bit different with the rules package, but really, after talking with the team and some of the wind tunnel stuff they’ve done, I don’t expect there to be something crazy different with the set-up or really, it’s just going to be less grip. It will be interesting to see how important tires are going to be. This tire is the same tire we’re going to run with the other, with 1,000 pounds more downforce. I think the wear will be a little bit less. But I don’t know. Until we get to practice, it’s hard to say.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Kentucky–Jamie McMurray

Brian Scott Finishes 42nd at Daytona International Speedway

After nearly a four-hour rain delay at Daytona International Speedway, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series took the green flag for the Coke Zero 400 at 11:42 p.m. Eastern Time. The starting order for the 160-lap event was set by first practice speeds in lieu of the NASCAR rule book after qualifying was rained out on Friday afternoon. Brian Scott and the No. 33 Shore Lodge Chevrolet started in the 26th position and spent the majority of the first 50 laps inside the top 10. Cars in front of the Shore Lodge Chevrolet began making contact in turn 4 on lap 87. Scott was unable to avoid the mayhem and was collected in the wreckage unable to return to competition, leading him to a 42nd-place finish. Scott will make his first Sprint Cup start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 26.

Start – 26 Finish – 42 Laps Led – 0 Points – N/A

Brian Scott Quote:
“It was Daytona. They were wrecking and my spotter (Billy O’Dea) did a great job telling me where things were. It was one of those accidents where we needed to gas up to get by the cars that were sliding up, and as soon as we got past those another car came up and we ran into the back of them. A bad end to a long day. Not the day we wanted for our Shore Lodge Chevy SS.”

DALE EARNHARDT JR., NO. 88 NATIONWIDE STARS AND STRIPES CHEVROLET SS – Race Winner
YOUR FIRST REACTION WASN’T ‘HEY WE WON’ YOU WERE WORRIED ABOUT AUSTIN DILLON AND EVERYONE ELSE:
“Yeah that scared the hell out of me, I will be honest with you. I saw the whole thing happen. You are looking in the mirror the whole last lap. I saw Denny (Hamlin) get turned. I guess that is kind of how it started. That was terrifying to watch. You know a wreck like that has such a high potential for someone to get injured and you saw the car get high and get into the fence. You just worry about everybody else in the grandstands and all that stuff. You just don’t want to see that happen. It was touch and go there for several moments. I’m more thankful that everybody is okay than to be standing here in Victory Lane that is for sure.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona Post Race–Dale Earnhardt Jr.

KYLE LARSON, NO. 42 COCA-COLA CHEVROLET SS – Involved in a multi-car accident on lap 105
WHAT HAPPENED FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE?
“The first time we caught the lapper and he was on the bottom and I just got to the middle at the wrong time. When we turned off into the corner I got really loose and was able to save it. I had a little bit of damage there and lost a lap. Then in the second one the No. 43 (Aric Almirola) comes across. I think I just got on the brakes and it got me sideways. I was along for the ride from there. I hate it because this was probably the best I’ve ran throughout a whole race or most of the race here at Daytona. The Share a Coke Chevy was fast. I had a lot of fun running up front and kind of being somewhat aggressive. I spun the first time and then that kind of put us in a bad spot there to get in that last wreck.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona–Post Race
