PERMATEX/FOLLOW A DREAM TEAM TIES ALL-TIME BEST WITH 7TH PLACE FINISH IN NATIONAL STANDINGS

PERMATEX/FOLLOW A DREAM TEAM TIES ALL-TIME BEST WITH 7TH PLACE FINISH IN NATIONAL STANDINGS

Marstons Mills, MA-November 17 2015-At the last event of 2015, the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., Jay Blake’s Permatex/Follow A Dream team suffered its worst race in years but held on for seventh place in the national Top Alcohol Funny Car standings, tying its highest finish ever.
Driver Todd Veney failed to qualify for just the second time in four years and was passed by resurgent Mickey Ferro, who won two of the season’s last four races and reached the semifinals in Pomona. “That was a huge disappointment, a total letdown,” said Veney, who missed a Top 5 finish by four points. “One more round-win anywhere all year, and we would have had our first Top 5, but everyone except the world champion looks back on the season and wishes they’d won one more round somewhere.”
Veney shut off to a 5.97 at just 202 mph in the first qualifying session when a wire inside the ignition box shorted out. A decent 5.68 at 252 mph on the second run, also plagued by ignition problems, had the Follow A Dream team 16th in the 16-car field with one shot to go.
“When you have no computer data to go off of, you’re just guessing, and we had no data from that first run,” said Blake. “[Tuner] Tommy [Howell] had information to go off of from the second run, immediately figured out what the problem was, and had everything fixed for our last shot, but with the ignition working like it should, the engine made way more power than it’s had since the first run at Las Vegas, and the car went up in smoke.”
The team finishes 2015 with three victories, tying its highest season total ever, and its biggest win – Norwalk – since 2006. Veney led the national standings in July and the East Region standings for much of the year and ends the season with a fourth Top 10 finish since 2010.

Chevy Racing–Fassler, Rockenfeller Bolster Corvette Racing U.S. Endurance Lineup

assler, Rockenfeller Bolster Corvette Racing U.S. Endurance Lineup
Championship-winning drivers join for defense of Rolex 24, Sebring GTLM victories

DETROIT (Nov. 16, 2015) – Already one of endurance sports car racing’s most prominent teams, Corvette Racing is adding even more championship-winning talent to its roster for the first two rounds of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Marcel Fassler and Mike Rockenfeller will complete the team’s lineup for the Rolex 24 At Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in the pair of Chevrolet Corvette C7.R race cars.

Corvette Racing is the defending GT Le Mans (GTLM) winner of both premier events. Adding two drivers who have won major endurance races around the world – including a combined five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – augments the experienced Corvette Racing driver lineup as it prepares for the first two endurance races of 2016.

“As we’ve learned over the years, winning at Daytona and Sebring requires a Corvette race car that demonstrates the proper balance of performance, reliability and efficiency. Winning also requires flawless execution by the team and drivers,” said Mark Kent, Director, Chevrolet Racing. “We feel very confident that adding Marcel and Rocky to our lineup in these two key races will maximize our chances of success. Their collective accomplishments speak for themselves, and they will add a tremendous amount to our endurance program at Corvette Racing.”

Fassler is readying for his second stint with Corvette Racing. The Swiss native was part of the team’s endurance lineup in 2009. He was part of the runner-up trio at Sebring and also contested Le Mans and Petit Le Mans in a Corvette C6.R. He has not raced at Daytona but Fassler won overall at Sebring in 2013.

Fassler is a past World Champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship and won Le Mans overall in 2011, 2012 and 2014. His exploits in a Corvette also include a win at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2007.

Rockenfeller is a past overall winner at the Rolex 24 and Le Mans – both in 2010. In each of the last three years, he has driven Corvette Daytona Prototypes at the Rolex 24 with a third-place finish with VisitFlorida.com Racing in 2015; he and VisitFlorida.com also were third at Sebring.

Rockenfeller has a pair of additional podium finishes at Daytona. He won the 2013 DTM championship and is a past GT2 winner in the American Le Mans Series and at Le Mans.

Corvette Racing continues its preparation for the 2016 season in an open IMSA test Nov. 17-18 at Daytona International Speedway. Corvette Racing’s first race of the season is the 54th Rolex 24 At Daytona on Jan. 30-31.

MARCEL FÄSSLER, CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – DAYTONA AND SEBRING: “It’s really great that I have the chance to drive again for Corvette Racing at Daytona and Sebring. It’s a fantastic opportunity to do those first two races in America. I already have raced three times for Corvette Racing in 2009 and have really good memories of working with the team. It’s always good to see them at Le Mans and other races where we cross paths. This is a great feeling. It’s the first time I’ve done the Rolex 24 At Daytona, so I’m a rookie but very highly motivated. I always have wanted to be a part of this race in a competitive car. Being with Corvette Racing gives me a chance to go for a class win. This is our main goal and the same for Sebring.”

MIKE ROCKENFELLER, CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – DAYTONA AND SEBRING: “I’m very happy to join Corvette Racing for Daytona and Sebring. The team is one of the best in endurance racing and one I’ve always watched at major races. As a driver, you always want to be part of winning organizations. Corvette Racing is one of those. It will be great to get back in a GT car for two of the biggest events of the year – including the Rolex 24 which I won in 2010. I’m hoping I can help Corvette Racing win there again in 2016. I’m excited to get started and get my first laps in the Corvette C7.R.”

Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 16, 2015) – The 2015 season was a roller coaster ride for Dominic Scelzi.

“I feel like this year we covered the highest of highs and lowest of lows,” he said. “This year saw the best part of this sport and also the worst. However, it was another great learning year for me as a young driver.”

Scelzi was sidelined for a month and a half because of a back injury he sustained during a hard crash in late July. Chevrolet Wins NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Championship

Chevrolet Wins NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Championship
2015 Title is 13th Consecutive and 39th Overall for the Bowtie Brand

DETROIT (November 16, 2015) – Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s victory in the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday clinched the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Championship for Chevrolet. It marks the 13th consecutive year and 39th time overall that the Bowtie Brand has won the prestigious title in NASCAR’s premiere series. It is the third Manufacturers’ award for the Chevrolet SS race car.

“Winning the Manufacturers’ Championship is one of the goals we set at the beginning of every season,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “This award is the result of great teamwork by the owners, drivers, crew chiefs, crews and technical partners. Special thanks to the Chevrolet powertrain team, along with the engine shops at Hendrick Motorsports and Earnhardt-Childress Racing for delivering the right combination of power, fuel economy, and reliability throughout the entire season. Congratulations to everyone who has made this special achievement possible for Chevrolet.”

In the 35 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races run to date in the 2015 season, Chevrolet drivers and teams have captured 15 victories. Chevrolet won its first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Championship in 1958.

The Team Chevy drivers who have contributed so far this year to the Manufacturers’ points that achieved the title for Chevrolet are: Jimmie Johnson (five wins), Kevin Harvick (three wins), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (three wins), Kurt Busch (two wins), Jeff Gordon (one win), and Martin Truex, Jr. (one win).

Fensport have campaigned a 2 car team in this year’s Toyota Sprint Series.
Adrian Smith driving the familiar Fensport GT86R and also Stan Hawrylak driving a similar but normally aspirated GT86.
Adrian driving the GT86R takes the overall championship win, with Stan taking a class win and a superb 2nd overall.
As you can imagine the team are ecstatic with the result and couldn’t of wished for a better year.

Fensport GT86R – Adrian reports
“Wow what a year, the racing has been so much closer this year, making this championship win, one to remember!
We started off the season at Snetterton very poorly with a 6th overall in appalling wet conditions, we were caught out and had the wrong (dry) tyres. From round 2 on we have been very competitive securing 4 overall wins and a 2nd place.
But the event to remember was Cadwell park the final round, it was another very wet day and very challenging! We had the correct (wet) tyres this time around and a more progressive LSD making the car much more controllable in the slippery conditions. I was able to attack the track as I would in the dry and take the overall win, beating even the 4wd cars!”

The GT86R has just got even better, throughout the year, with the addition of Cosworth prototype engine internals along with Avo stage 4 turbocharger and mid season the fitting of a Samsonas sequential gearbox

Power output is now around 470bhp and the car has performed fantastic all year.
Adrian’s GT86R on his way to 1st overall at Blyton Park

Adrian reports “We have done it! I am so happy and so proud of what we have achieved this year, the car has just been awesome to drive, the new modifications, the wide track, the power from the Avo turbo, the handling, it’s just a dream car to drive! Thank you to everyone who has supported us all year”

“It all started back in 2014 after speaking with Adrian and his team at Fensport, I knew I wanted to work with them after I had finished 3rd overall in last year’s championship. The team took me under their wing and have transformed my car turning it in to a full blown racer, stripped, Cusco roll cage, seats and harnesses were fitted along with new BC coilovers and the full range of Summit and Swave chassis parts. Power has been increased to around 230bhp with Ecutek Race Rom and using a HKS manifold, Miltek exhaust system, lightweight pulleys, flywheel and carbon propshaft the car has been incredible and a dream to drive all year!

“I had a similar poor start to Adrian at the 1st event also running the wrong tyre for the conditions, it was Blyton in the dry where I could finally attack and see how good this new car was and claim a healthy 6th overall and 1st in class. For round 3 was my 1st podium finishing in 3rd, round 4 was my best result of the year going one better and I was so pleased to finish 2nd overall. Round 5 at Blyton was tough with 3 turbocharged cars ahead 4th was another good result!
Heading in to the final round I had a 1 point advantage from Simon Marsh and all the pressure of a final round at Cadwell Park in the wet! The day started great running in 2nd to Adrian at lunchtime in the rain was simply awesome! However it started to dry in the afternoon and 2 of the bigger power cars just got in front, I hung on to an amazing 4th overall which was good enough to clinch 2nd overall in the whole championship!”

A Fensport 1-2 was the dream we had hoped for at the beginning of the year!!
A big Cheers and thank you to all our helpers and sponsors throughout the year!

YOU HAD A FAST CAR, BUT YOU WERE ALSO IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME. TELL US ABOUT THAT PIT CALL:
“We had an idea that the rain was in the area, but all the circumstances that played out at the end of the race are just kind of luck I think. I want to give Greg (Ives, crew chief) a lot of credit and the guys. They gave us a good enough car to come here and qualify well. I think the reason why we won this race is because of the way we qualified to give ourselves a position to be up front all night. When something like this quirky happens we were able to capitalize. It’s a rain-shortened win, but my guys are very proud of it because of how the car ran all weekend and we put ourselves in this position. A lot of guys would love to see this race continue and have an opportunity to race to the Chase. If I had four or six inches at Talladega we would be going there to Homestead to race for a championship too. It works out for some and some it doesn’t. We will take this win it has been a long year and we put a lot of effort into it and we are starting to see somethings turn around and work for us like we want. We were fast all weekend, so real proud of this.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Phoenix–Post Race

Summit Racing–Line encouraged by strong first day of qualifying for Team Summit

Line encouraged by strong first day of qualifying for Team Summit

POMONA, Calif., November 13, 2015 – Jason Line and the Summit Racing Pro Stock team came to Pomona for the 51st annual Auto Club NHRA Finals with the same intentions as ever: to win. In Friday qualifying at the final race of 24 on the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour, Line and the KB Racing crew noted a handful of very promising factors and are eager to get down to business on Saturday. Line is currently No. 6 in the qualifying order.

The racing surface at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona was ripe for good runs, and Team Summit came to the table with a strong 6.528-second pass at 212.86 mph in the first session to send Jason Line to the No. 4 spot in the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. His teammate, Greg Anderson, made a crushingly fast 213.30 mph pass that was the fastest speed of the day for the factory hot rods.

In the second session, Line improved ever so slightly to a 6.521, 212.79 and ended the first day of qualifying in the No. 6 spot. The last round of qualifying also saw KB Racing-powered Bo Butner make the third-quickest pass of the session.

“We had a couple of good moments today, but overall the runs were average, and we know we can go faster,” said Line, who has four Pomona wins on his scorecard. “The runs we made today weren’t quite what we were looking for, but all that means is that we are going to make some changes and swing for it a little harder tomorrow with our Summit Racing Camaros. Today was an okay day, but we expect that tomorrow will be an even better day.”
