BRISTOL, Tenn. – (August 18, 2017) – Fresh off his win last weekend in Michigan, Kyle Larson set the pace for Team Chevy with a second-place qualifying run in his No. 42 Huggies Little Movers Chevrolet SS at Bristol Motor Speedway. He will start on the outside front row for the 500-lap Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race, Round 24 of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS). This marks the 14th top-10 start of the season thus far for Larson, and his second in eight races at the track known as the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’. “I don’t know that there is any direct correlation whether you are cycling or running to being in the car. There is certainly a great benefit from the cardio side of riding a bike or running and Bristol is one of those tracks that you are reminded of every time we come back here how you tend to hold your breath for numerous laps. It takes a little while to get relaxed enough around this place, especially running the top. Running the bottom is not near as bad as trying to get around the top of this place. Pre-Race Report

Cruz Pedregon and team took the Snap-on Toyota to task at a match race before Brainerd, and it performed the way they plan for it to in the weekend ahead. “This top 10 position feels really good heading into the Playoffs. The car is doing just what we need it to do to move up in the standings in the next two critical races,” Cruz says. “We’ll take it a round at a time. But, running a 3.92 and a 3.93 before getting here has us in a good spot mentally and right where we want to be with our tuning.”

Crew Chief Aaron Brooks says, “We’re ready to get a couple of rounds under our belt and qualify in the top five. As a team, we know we’ve got the Snap-on Toyota right where we want it. Cruz is feeling good, and so are we.”

This weekend, the Snap-on Toyota will be sporting its traditional paint scheme on the “El Jefe” body. Cruz’s El Guapo, the handsome one, body had some nose damage after a trip to the sand earlier this year. But, in a sense, Brainerd International Raceway – more than 1,800 miles away – is a home track, because Force and many of his drivers have dominated there over the years. Force himself has 11 victories, the second-most of any track on the circuit, in 31 races, and his 74 elimination-round wins is also the second-highest at any track.
