April 29, 2018

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team had one of their best runs of the season going before being swept up in a late-race, multi-car melee.

Lenard, who wound up with a 30th-place finish, started 13th but was racing in the top five by the end of the race’s first 55-lap stage, thereby earning six stage points with his fifth-place stage finish.

He continued his march to the front and took the lead on Lap 105 and led a six-car string of Ford Fusions to the line at the end of Stage Two. Menard’s first-ever stage win paid another 10 stage points plus a playoff point. Continue reading Talladega “Big One” Spoils Strong Run For Menard, Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team

JOHN FORCE RUNNER-UP AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS

JOHN FORCE RUNNER-UP AT NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS
CONCORD, N.C. (April 29, 2018) — Sixteen-time Funny Car world champion John Force led his team at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway just outside of Charlotte. Force finished second in the final quad of the day earning runner-up points. Daughter Courtney Force was also in the final quad and finished as a semifinalist. Defending Funny Car champ Robert Hight ended his day in the second quad and reigning Top Fuel world champ and No. 1 qualifier Brittany Force had her day cut short in the first quad.

The start to the 2018 season has been anything but easy for the winningest driver in NHRA history with multiple engine explosions, trips to the hospital, witnessing daughter Brittany Force wreck in Top Fuel and failing to qualify for the first time in ten years last weekend in Houston. John Force won’t say it’s all behind him but he can say he’s moving forward and his runner-up finish at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals is a testament to that. AN EVENTFUL DAY. YOU HAD SOME CONTACT ON PIT ROAD EARLIER, A LATER TIRE PENALTY, AND YOU STILL MANAGED TO GET IN THE MIX. DID YOU THINK YOU WERE HAVING A SHOT AT IT?
“I thought our NAPA Chevy was good. It wasn’t, I don’t think, as fast as we’ve been previously at the restrictor plate tracks, but I feel like it was a solid car. I got to the end and those guys around me were working together so much. I thought for sure one of them wanted to win a little worse than what they did. They were being very patient with one another and I was surprised by that. If it was me, I feel like I would have wanted to try or do something. Those guys weren’t having it. I was trying to move forward and make a lane and push and they were not interested in advancing. So, it could have been a lot worse, so we’ll move on to Dover.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Talladega Post Race

Zane DeVault Grabs SOD MAHLE/Clevite BLC win at Crysta

ERIE, MI (April 29, 2018) – If last night’s Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt presented by ARP season opening MAHLE/Clevite Beyond Limits Challenge Race #1 was any indication of what lies ahead, SOD fans will be treated to an exciting, action packed season.

Zane DeVault, Plymouth, Indiana, drove to his first SOD victory by just 0.03 seconds over hard-charging Chad Blonde (Litchfield, MI) and Matt Foos (Fremont, OH). Not only was the racing exciting, but SOD’s “Beyond Limits” format once again proved itself with DeVault winning with a 360 engine over Blonde’s 410 and 305 of Foos.

The temperature may have been frigid, but the action couldn’t have been hotter! A huge crowd braved the cold and were rewarded with a “caution-free zone” at Crystal Motor Speedway as the Engine Pro Sprints On Dirt drivers put on a spectacular show that saw the SOD races go without a single caution. Matt Tifft and the KC Motorgroup Team Show Resilience at Talladega Superspeedway Despite Cut Tire

“We can’t seem to catch a break at these restrictor-plate tracks. We had a strong No. 2 KC Motorgroup Chevrolet all weekend. My crew chief, Randall Burnett, and my team focused on race trim for this weekend, knowing we needed a bit more of that at our last plate race. I had no issues during the race, and we were able to run in the top 10 pretty much all day. It’ unfortunate that our result didn’t match it. I had a vibration with less than 30 laps to go, but we thought we could manage it to the end. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case this time and the tire blew with just a handful of laps remaining. I’m bummed we couldn’t take home the Xfinity Dash 4 Cash bonus, but we did earn some stage points in the first two stages. We’ll regroup and get after it at Dover next weekend.”

April 28, 2018

Paul Menard and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion will line up 13thfor Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Menard posted a qualifying lap at 191.486 miles per hour, which was just .018 seconds shy of allowing him to advance to the second and final round of qualifying.

But there was little disappointment among the Motorcraft/Quick Lane crew members because the team spent most of the two practice sessions on Friday getting their car tuned for racing conditions. Menard also slipped by the big wreck of the day on Friday, a move that kept him in his primary car for Sunday’s race. Continue reading Menard To Start 13thAt Talladega

Full Transcript:

HOW IS YOUR CAR TODAY AND WHAT IS YOUR OUTLOOK FOR THIS WEEKEND?
“Well, right now it’s pretty good and hopefully later on it will be good. Yeah, that was a wild wreck on the backstretch. Luckily, we were a little late getting out there and that kind of worked into our advantage not getting in that. I hate that for those guys. That stinks. I never figured out what happened was it right-rear tire? Left-rear tire… yeah… so the unfortunate thing is he left the ground. I think that was something we were trying to solve. So, that is kind of unfortunate, but that is probably the fastest part of the track there on the backstretch everything is flat and carrying that much speed you get hit there it’s hard to keep the car on the ground going that fast and where it’s at.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Talladega–Austin Dillon
