CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Halfway Report
Garcia/Magnussen/Rockenfeller fighting in top-five; No. 64 Corvette still going strong

LE MANS, France (June 17, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s No. 63 entry remained among the lead six cars in a hotly contested GTE Pro category as the 24 Hours of Le Mans entered its second half.

Antonio Garcia had just gotten back in the No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R prior to the 12-hour mark as the team’s highest-running entry continued to press its attack on the Circuit de la Sarthe and the rest of the 17-car GTE Pro field.

Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller were on the cusp of the led lap into Hour 13 as Le Mans began to claim a handful of contenders in the dark of night. The Corvette was on the brink of the top-five and less than a minute for fourth place in what has been the toughest GTE Pro fight the team has faced. COURTNEY FORCE AND ADVANCE AUTO PARTS CURRENTLY NO. 1 AT BRISTOL DRAGWAY

COURTNEY FORCE AND ADVANCE AUTO PARTS CURRENTLY NO. 1 AT
BRISTOL DRAGWAY
BRISTOL, Va. (June 15, 2018) — After day one of qualifying at the Fitzgerald USA NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, Courtney Force shows no signs of letting up on her domination of the Funny Car class. Force, along with her Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car team, raced to the top of the field Friday night at Bristol Dragway. Robert Hight currently holds the No. 3 spot with John Force at No. 6. Brittany Force, in Top Fuel, ended the day No. 5.

Courtney Force has yet to qualify, even preliminarily, outside of the top four in 2018 and, at the 11th race of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season, it doesn’t look like the Funny Car points leader has any intention of ending that streak. Force, who ran a 4.277-second pass during the first qualifying session, good enough for fourth, came out under the lights with a cool track and blasted to a 3.933-second pass at 325.92 mph to take over the top spot. It was the only Funny Car three-second pass of the day and earned her three bonus points. Continue reading COURTNEY FORCE AND ADVANCE AUTO PARTS CURRENTLY NO. 1 AT BRISTOL DRAGWAY

For Cruz Pedregon, racing on Father’s Day weekend has special meaning as the son of Drag Racing legend “Flaming Frank” Pedregon. “My brother Tony and I are still in the business our Dad introduced us to, and we love carrying on the legacy of the sport for him and all the great fans,” Cruz says. “I’m driving and Tony’s in the booth for FOX now, and we both love that our children have known this sport from the very start of their lives. We’re proud to continue the tradition and appreciate all the families and sponsors who are doing the same by coming out to the tracks each week and watching the broadcasts.” This week, you’ll see the Snap-on Toyota in the Frankenstein body after El Chignon sustained significant damage in an explosion last weekend in Virginia that left only a side window intact. COURTNEY FORCE RUNNING ON ALL CYLINDERS ON AND OFF TRACK

COURTNEY FORCE RUNNING ON ALL CYLINDERS ON AND OFF TRACK
BRISTOL, Tenn. (June 14, 2018) — When you are the Funny Car points leader and winner of three of the previous four NHRA national events, there isn’t much down time at the track — you spend time in the press room with the media as well as have various sponsor obligations in suites and hospitality areas between rounds, during qualifying and on race day. For Courtney Force, the time at the track might be considered her down time as she has been flying across the country between races just as quickly as she has been racing down the track.

Since the beginning of May Force was won three races, attended the Indy 500, appeared on the CMT Awards in Nashville as Sam Hunt’s presenter and presented a house to a deserving family of a veteran in Florida as part of Advance Auto Parts participation with the “Home for Heroes” program. JOHN FORCE LOOKING TO BUILD ON LEGEND AT BRISTOL DRAGWAY

JOHN FORCE LOOKING TO BUILD ON LEGEND AT BRISTOL DRAGWAY
BRISTOL, Tenn. (June 14, 2018) — At a track where he has won four times in five final round appearances, John Force has nothing left to prove to the sport. He is racing this weekend at the Fitzgerald USA NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals to prove to himself he can still stay in the fight. The 16-time Funny Car champion and 148-time Funny Car national event winner could walk away from the sport tomorrow and head right into every Hall of Fame imaginable. However, he still has a lot of racing left in his tank as shown by his past two race weekends where he, along with the rest of his PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil team, have battled to semifinal and runner-up finishes under tough conditions.

“Look, I let this race car do the running for me,” said Force. “We have had a tough year, one of the toughest of my career. We have never blown up this mush stuff but we have figured a lot out. I am listening to my guys and to Robert Hight and Jimmy Prock and Brian Corradi. We are going to keep fighting and keep getting better. I have my heart back after Richmond.” Continue reading JOHN FORCE LOOKING TO BUILD ON LEGEND AT BRISTOL DRAGWAY

Force on Mongoose

Although the Sunday death of Tom “the Mongoose” McEwen at age 81 reverberated throughout the sport of drag racing, it hit few harder than it did John Force, the 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion. Force spoke at length with his PR representatives Elon Werner and Dave Densmore to collect his thoughts and feelings about McEwen. This is what he wanted us to share with the NHRA community.

As recently as three to four weeks ago, McEwen had called Force to talk about a recent spate of engine explosions and crashes that had left the Hall of Fame team owner and driver battered, bruised and besieged. Continue reading Force on Mongoose

Meyer vs. Meyer: All Female Final at Tulsa

The Randy Meyer Racing Team has been racing at Tulsa Raceway Park for decades but has had a wide range of success at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event held at the track in June. Last year, driver Megan Meyer earned a Runner-Up finish to James Stevens, ending her streak of a perfect 5-race win record.

This year, Megan and her sister, Rachel Meyer, who was driving the team’s second A/Fuel Dragster, dominated the field. The girls were the only females competing in the 8-car field and were very successful taking down the boys. Megan and Rachel qualified first and second with a 5.22 ET and 5.25 ET respectively, running over a tenth of a second ahead of the competition.
