Dominic Scelzi and New Crew Chief Jimmy Carr Debuting Together Saturday at Keller Auto Speedway
Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2020) – Dominic Scelzi kicks off his aggressive 2020 schedule this Saturday.
Scelzi and new crew chief Jimmy Carr will make their debut together at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., which hosts a 360ci winged sprint car event.
“I’m so ready to get going,” Scelzi said. “I’m excited to see what we can do this year and build something that will be a long-term thing. It’s going to be what I hope is for the rest of my career. For some people maybe the pressure is way up, but for me I don’t feel pressure. I have great people behind me. We have great engines and great race cars. I have all the tools I need to be successful.”
Scelzi is coming off a career-best season with eight wins. His most recent triumph at Keller Auto Speedway occurred in April 2018.
“We’re just going to chase wins this year,” he said. “We’ve won a handful of shows in Hanford, four or five times. I feel pretty confident. We’ve won when it’s been hooked up and rough and we’ve won when it’s been slick. We’ve conquered that place with pretty much any surface it’s given us.”
Scelzi is also excited to start the season at a track that was recently taken over by veteran Peter Murphy, who has played an important role in his career.
“It’s really neat,” Scelzi said. “Peter and I normally talk a lot, but we’ve talked a ton the last three months as this has been building up. There’s a lot of exciting stuff that has been announced. He’s the right guy for the job.”

Jeg Coughlin Jr. checking all the boxes
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Feb. 17) — Everything seems to be going perfectly well for six-time NHRA champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. at the moment and in a sport where luck can change as easily as the breeze, the 49-year-old from Columbus, Ohio, is anxious to ride his current wave of good fortune for as long as possible.
Consider the facts entering this weekend’s NHRA Arizona Nationals:
After just one race, Coughlin leads Pro Stock by 36 points, the largest margin in any professional category.
His JEGS.com Elite Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro was quickest of all eight rounds in Pomona, Calif., including qualifying and eliminations.
He was the No. 1 qualifier in Pomona.
Dating back to last year, Coughlin has won two national events in a row and has been to four straight finals. His won/loss elimination-round record during this span is 14-2. Continue reading Defending Phoenix champ & points leader Jeg Coughlin Jr. checking all the boxes

NHRA Arizona Nationals – Phoenix
Pre-Race Report
Cruz Pedregon and team took a few days to head back to the shop in Brownsburg before arriving at the Arizona Nationals where they will introduce a new trailer that pays homage to the 100th anniversary of primary sponsor Snap-on.
“We took time in the shop to get some projects done and review data from the opening race prior to Phoenix,” says Cruz. “We wanted the rest after testing and trying out some things in Pomona, so we’re revved and ready to hit the track at Wild Horse Pass.
“We took a closer look at the issue we had with the blower belt in Q3 and studied the good numbers we ran in Q4. After working through those things as a team, we’re planning for the fans to see good runs by the Snap-on Dodge this weekend.”
Cruz is inviting NHRA fans attending the race this weekend to stop by his pit and snap a picture with the new Snap-on 100th paint scheme on the Dodge® Funny Car and trailer to post on social media using the hashtag #Snapon100.

Austin Dillon and the Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Off Road/E-Z-Go Chevrolet Team’s Daytona Finish Provides Solid Start to Season
“We want to be in Victory Lane where Denny Hamlin is, but all in all, we’ve had a pretty good start to the season for this No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Off Road/E-Z-Go Chevrolet Team. The Daytona 500 is one of those races where you want to finish towards the front because it takes a while to recover from a bad first race. To start the season in the top-13 in points is huge. We were riding around biding our time to make a run for it at the end when I saw a car swing across the field and I knew we were going to be in trouble. I got hit pretty good. I tried to keep it in the middle but ended up with some right-front damage. After that, our car was on the splitter and didn’t want to turn. Still, we survived several more wrecks to finish 12th. I was able to maintain at the end but I think we could have finished a few spots higher if we would have lined up on the outside for the final restart. I really needed other cars pushing me to help me along. We’re through Daytona and it’s a solid start to the year.”

Tyler Reddick and the Caterpillar Team Show Speed in Daytona 500 Despite Late-Race Incident
“I’m still looking at replays to figure out what happened during that last wreck, but I know my No. 8 Caterpillar Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE snapped a little loose right before it. I collected it back up and thought I could save it, but then the rear tires came up and someone hit me. Looking back, there’s always things you would change. I wish I would have dove to the bottom but I had to make a decision in the moment and went with my gut. This just comes with this style of racing. I made it a little further in this Daytona 500 than in my first one, so that’s a plus. My team did a great job getting our Caterpillar Chevrolet dialed in throughout Speedweeks. We survived a couple close calls during the race, got caught up in one big wreck and fixed it really well to where I felt like we were in good shape to contend for the win. Unfortunately, the finish just didn’t go our way tonight. I could have rode a little bit more, but this Caterpillar team is here to win, and that’s what we tried to do tonight.”

WILLIAM BYRON, NO. 24 AXALTA ‘COLOR OF THE YEAR’ CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Sidelined in crash on lap 59
UNFORTUNATELY OUT OF THIS RACE EARLY. IT LOOKED LIKE THERE WAS CONTACT. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED THERE ON THE BACKSTRETCH?
“Just from looking at it further, I think he slid left to cross my bumper and if he would have hit me square, it would have been fine. But when he was sliding left and hitting me, it moved my car a little left too and, ultimately, it kind of caused him to turn me in the left rear. I’m not really sure how that happens, but it is what it is. I don’t really know what to do differently; just kind of go back, look at it, go onto Vegas and try to do well there.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Daytona–William Byron

Myatt Snider Kicks Off 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season with Pole and Strong Run in the No. 21 TaxSlayer Chevrolet Camaro Before Mid-Race Contact
“It’s a shame we had to tear up such a fast TaxSlayer Camaro. I saw someone try to clear themselves and thought I had it cleared, but he came up at the very last second and caught me in the left rear. I’m not sure what people were thinking there. Even though it wasn’t the end we were hoping for, it was good to start off my relationship with Richard Childress Racing with a pole and to lead laps at Daytona. I have to give thanks to everyone who made this possible this weekend, especially Richard Childress, TaxSlayer, and my crew chief, Andy Street. They all put together a phenomenal race car and it was a fantastic opportunity for me, but it’s a shame I got caught up in somebody else’s mess. That’s just racing at Daytona. You try and make it through everything and hope you’re there at the end, but sometimes it doesn’t happen.”

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 ALLY CAMARO ZL1 1LE met with media and discussed his thoughts on what he’d like to do after 2020, practice sessions and how the new race car is performing thus far at Daytona, his teammates and the Duel races, and more. FULL TRANSCRIPT:
THIS IS YOUR LAST FULL TIME SEASON, BUT MAYBE NOT NECESSARILY YOUR LAST DAYTONA 500. WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST WHEN YOU’RE NOT RACING FULL TIME ANYMORE?
“It could be my last 500. I don’t know. I am officially retiring from 38 weekends a year at the end of the season. I do know that. But the right situation, I would certainly consider it. I know that I can’t shut off my competitive nature at the end of the year and call it good. So, I would entertain NASCAR, IndyCar, Sports Car, Off-Road, Mountain Bike, Marathon; ski racing recently with my daughter. I’ve got to race. So, I’m open to things that would be fun. Things that are on my bucket list. And, of course, if there’s an opportunity here with Hendrick Motorsports and being with Rick, I’d certainly look at that, too. Are you thinking what I’ll be doing next year at this time?” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Jimmie Johnson

DiBenedetto Has Strong Drive In Duel At Daytona
February 14, 2020
Matt DiBenedetto turned in a strong performance in the second of two Bluegreen Vacations Duels at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday night, running as high as second place before being shuffled to seventh at the finish.
That earned him the 16th starting spot for Sunday’s 62nd annual Daytona 500 and four Stage points that he’ll carry throughout the season.
DiBenedetto started his Duel from eighth place but quickly latched onto the rear bumper of fellow Ford driver Kevin Harvick. The Blue Oval duo sliced their way through the field and were running 1-2 after just five laps. Continue reading DiBenedetto Has Strong Drive In Duel At Daytona

Austin Dillon and the Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Off Road Team Survive Duel and Capture Sixth Place Finish at Daytona
“It’s a pretty good start to the season to earn some points tonight in the Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Off Road Chevrolet. Those extra points could come in handy during the season. We had a great race. We started losing the front end in dirty air and we are lacking some speed, but we have two practice sessions left to work on our car. The No. 47 car was just so unbelievably fast tonight. I was holding him up when I was leading, but when he was in front he pulled me pretty well. I think we’re strong enough to put together a solid race on Sunday if all of the Chevrolets work together.”

Tyler Reddick and Caterpillar Team Finish 10th During Duel at Daytona International Speedway
“We were in a really good position to start the race off with our Caterpillar Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE. I was being a little cautious at first with how aggressive I was going to block for position in the outer lane. On Lap 4 or 5, I had a good run on the 1 and was running in the top five. I wanted to move our Chevrolet further up still and made a move to the outside but got put three-wide and shuffled back. That affected our race a little bit, especially when it started to single out. I started to panic a little bit then, but my crew chief, Randall Burnett, and spotter, Derek Kneeland, did a great job of reminding me there was still a lot of race left to run. The caution towards the end of the race helped stack everyone back up again, which was great since I was able to push the issue on the aggression side a little bit more. It’s hard when a bunch of Fords are lined up on the outside to get one of them to jump out and go with you, but I had some good cars to push me from behind which helped us climb back up through the field. There were a couple moves I could have tried to get a few more spots, but that would have been too risky for our starting spot in the DAYTONA 500. We kept our No. 8 Caterpillar Chevrolet clean tonight, and that’s what mattered most.”
