Austin Dillon and the AAA Chevrolet Team Earn 12th-Place Finish In Wild Ending at Dover International Speedway

“I’m proud of our AAA Team. I wish we would have brought home the top-10 finish but we will take a 12th after the chaos on the backstretch. That was wild at the end there with everyone scattering through the field and different strategies coming into play when some teams did not pit and some pitted for four tires when the caution came out. We took four and I think that was the right decision but you never know if maybe a two-tire call could have been beneficial to pick up an extra spot. We were involved in that last incident that froze the field and ended the race. We worked as an organization to create a strategy that put us all in contention so I am proud of RCR as a whole.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–AAA 400 Drive for Autism

Up-And-Down Day for Austin Dillon and the Rheem Team Concludes with 28th-Place Finish at The Monster Mile

“It was definitely an up-and-down day in the Rheem Chevrolet today. We were running towards the front when we got sideways and made contact with the outside wall. That brought out the caution and created quite a bit of damage to the right side of the Rheem Chevy. It turned into a strategy race the rest of the day because we were short one set of tires for a while. We ended up getting caught back up and we were looking okay but the power steering line broke loose with less than 20 laps to go and we were unable to finish the race. I hate to leave Dover with a DNF but it’s not for a lack of effort. Everyone at RCR puts their all into this XFINITY program every single week.”

Gutsy Fuel Strategy Call in Coca-Cola 600 Helps Austin Dillon Earn Career-First Victory in No. 3 Dow Chevrolet in front of Hometown Crowd

“I feel like we did our jobs. We took a car that was capable of running fifth to eighth, and we took it to Victory Lane. The pit crew did an amazing job. I had a really good restart and an okay restart that hurt us a little but. However, that did put us in a position where I could be smart and save fuel. Track position is tough at a place like Charlotte. Man, that’s what the 600 is about. You got to keep yourself in it to win it, and we did that. I never changed direction. Once I started saving, I was really smooth letting out of the gas, smooth back to the gas, no brake. I just tried to stay as smooth as I could. I knew the laps were counting down. I knew my team wanted me to go pass race leader Jimmie Johnson, but I knew he was right there. If I had to make it in a lap, I felt like I could do it. It worked out. That actually took some pressure off me when he ran out of fuel, truthfully. As soon as that happened, I went back to my conserving mode. I said to myself ‘you’re fine’. Then brought it home. It feels awesome to deliver a victory to fans of the No. 3 car, to fans of Richard Childress Racing, and to everyone who has believed in me, especially my partners who have been with me since the very beginning. It’s pretty cool to see the No. 3, like my grandfather said, on top of the pylon tonight. Now, we can take two cars to the Playoffs and hopefully make some noise.”

Strategy Call by Crew Chief Matt Borland Results in 13th-Place Finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway

“It was an up and down night for this No. 27 Knauf /Menards Chevy team. The handling was decent all night and pretty close to where it needed to be. I wasn’t really sure what changes we needed to go faster. Matt Borland made a strategy call at the end to stretch our fuel limits. It worked out. I was able to save enough to get us across the start finish line. I’ve got to congratulate my teammate Austin Dillon on his win tonight. It’s good to see RCR in Victory Lane again.”

Fuel Mileage Gamble Pays Off for Ryan Newman with Top-10 Finish for the Grainger Team

“First I want to congratulate Austin, Justin and the entire 3 team. It’s great to see that car back in Victory Lane especially for Richard and what it means for the organization. We now have two of our three cars in the Playoffs. It’s awesome. As for our race, our Grainger Chevrolet really struggled when we went back to green after the rain delay. The call to stay out and conserve really turned our day around and we’ll take it.”

Austin Dillon Drives the Rheem Chevrolet to a Third-Place Finish in Front of a Hometown Crowd at Charlotte Motor Speedway

“We did a really good job adjusting the car over the course of the race. The Rheem Chevrolet really came to us at the end when the clouds came in. I hate that we weren’t able to visit Victory Lane today for our pit crew, especially. They did such a good job today. So did my new crew chief, Randall Burnett. We had a few good restarts there but we were in a Penske sandwich and couldn’t do much about it. I got hit on the restart and it just wasn’t enough to carry me into Turn 1. I had a lot of fun today. I’m proud of this RCR XFINITY Series program.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–Hisense 4k TV 300

Ryan Newman Cuts Down Right-Front Tire Costing Caterpillar/Grainger Team a Transfer Spot in Final Stage of the All-Star Race

“It was a mixed bag for us tonight in the Caterpillar/Grainger Chevrolet. In the first stage, I was making my way up through the field when I messed up a lap and it cost us a few spots. We needed to start making a move to the front in Stage 2 to help our chances of making it into the final stage 10-car shootout. We were once again moving up in Stage 3 and I thought we’d have a chance to make it in when we cut down a right-front tire with just a few laps to go. It ended our night. I hate it for this Caterpillar/Grainger Chevrolet team. I think we learned a few things tonight so I hope it will help us next week in the Coca-Cola 600.”

Multi-Car Incident Takes Out Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Dow Intellifresh Chevrolet at Talladega Superspeedway

“I was a little bit further back in the pack in the Dow Intellifresh Chevrolet. I just saw somebody come across the field and we all started checking up, but I was pushed back into it. It’s just Talladega and that’s a part of it. We’re three-wide, all trying to get as many positions as we can there at the end. We were just too far back to avoid the incident. Ty Dillon was in that pack with me and bailed out just before the crash because he felt like it was getting too wild. I was hoping one of our RCR or ECR teammates could make it up through there for the end of the race. It’s time to turn this season around. It’s been a rough start, but there are some positives. We have several solid tracks coming up.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–Geico 500

Ben Kennedy Earns Fourth-Place Finish in Rheem Chevrolet at Talladega Superspeedway in Richard Childress Racing Debut

“I learned a lot out there today in the Rheem Chevrolet. I knocked the rust off of it the first couple of laps and then started to get after it. On the last lap, Joey Logano and I had a run, but we just kind of lost our momentum on the high side. It’s amazing how these cars run and the lines they run. I got a lot out of today and I’m really happy with the finish. It was a lot of fun.”

Austin Dillon and the No. 3 AAA Team Finish 20th at
Richmond International Raceway

“I wish we would have stayed out on that last pit stop. That was my call to pit and it didn’t work out for us this time. The No. 17 car was right with us and he stayed out and ended up finishing fourth. Our AAA Chevrolet was fast during portions of the race but during other portions of the race we struggled with handling. Overall we had a lot of obstacles to overcome today and we worked hard as a team so I am proud of our efforts.”

Austin Dillon Cruises to Segment One Win at Richmond International Raceway En Route to 4th-Place Finish in Rheem Chevrolet

“The Rheem Chevy was unreal on the first run. I was cruising–so much so that we were able to win the first segment with a seven second lead. For the remainder of the race the car would come to us like it did in the first run but everybody got a little better and we didn’t. We tried to make it a little better and just couldn’t accomplish that. We kind of got lost. It’s easy to do that at this place. We have something to come back with. We didn’t have enough today. I’m proud of everybody on the Rheem team. Tomorrow should be a really fun day, too, so I’m looking forward to that race as well.” Continue reading Richard Childress Racing–Richmond 250

Austin Dillon and the New Era Caps Chevrolet Team Bring Home a Solid, 13th-Place Finish at the Last Great Colosseum

“Our New Era Caps Chevrolet was probably better than where we ended up finishing. We couldn’t do a whole lot on the track today, mainly because we struggled on the bottom. We lost some track position in the middle of the race, but once we got it back we ran smart and minimized any mistakes. Overall, it was a decent day for our team at Bristol. It wasn’t the finish we wanted, but we needed a solid day and that’s what we ended up with here.”

Austin Dillon Battles Through Late Race Cautions to Finish 13th-Place at Bristol Motor Speedway

“We lost track position after the second stage and weren’t able to make it up. Then we got collected in a wreck near the end. There just wasn’t enough laps for us to get where we needed to be. I think there was a difference between stickers and scuffs for our car. We made an adjustment during the first run of the race and probably didn’t have to. Our No. 2 Rheem Chevy was pretty good. The rain washed rubber off the track, so we weren’t sure what the track was going to be like when we went back green. The top groove did come in before the rain, so it was good to be able to jump up there and be able to gain some spots. We lost track position after the second stage and then got in a couple of wrecks and struggled to make up the difference. It’s a pretty fun track, really. I think the way we’ve got it with the grip on the bottom and being able to cut to the top makes it interesting. I’m pretty excited to get back tomorrow for the Cup Series race.” Continue reading Fitgerald Glider Kits 300

Mechanical Woes Slow Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Dow Energy and Water Chevrolet Team at Texas Motor Speedway

“As soon as I made a pace lap before the race I could feel something was was broken. We had to go into the garage and make repairs before we could even start the race. Man, it just sucks. Everyone knows you’ll have days like that over the course of a 38-race season but no one wants that ever. We worked hard the entire race just trying to make up laps and gain positions.
