CHEVY OVER 40 CLUB:
Bristol Motor Speedway is one of only six tracks on the current Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule where Chevrolet has more than 40 victories. Chevrolet has visited Winner’s Circle at the ‘World’s Fastest Half-Mile’ 45 times, more than any other brand.

CHEVROLET HISTORY MINUTE:
Chevrolet earned their first win at the ‘Last Great Coliseum’ in 1971 with Charlie Glotzbach behind the wheel, the same race Glotzbach set the race speed record at Bristol clocking 101.074 mph average pace throughout the 500-lap event. That record still stands today. Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Bristol Advance

CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: Going for an Overall Three-peat
Three victories in Virginia for Corvette Racing since 2012

Quartet of drivers very much in GT Le Mans title chase
Garcia, Magnussen winners last two seasons at VIR
Gavin, Milner looking for second Virginia victory together

DETROIT (Aug. 15, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s title chase in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes it to a circuit where – not surprisingly – it has shown significant strength: Virginia International Raceway.

This weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge is a GT-only weekend with the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class taking top billing. It’s a situation that has worked out well for Corvette Racing in the past with the program looking for a third straight victory – and fourth in class since 2012 – at the 3.27-mile, 17-turn circuit that straddles the borders of North Carolina and Virginia. YOU’VE HAD A VERY BUSY WEEK, YESTERDAY YOU VISITED THE LANSING GRAND RIVER ASSEMBLY PLANT WHERE THE CAMARO ZL1 IS ASSEMBLED. CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THAT EXPERIENCE AND YOUR WEEK AFTER THE VICTORY?
“It’s been a real busy week for sure. A lot of fun and a cool experience to kind of see what you do when you win a race. That was nice and yeah, had a chance to go to Lansing yesterday and meet some of the folks that put together the Camaro and get to see how that car is built and drive one off the assembly line. It was pretty neat and I enjoyed my time there and looking forward to hopping in mine here very shortly.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Michigan–Chase Elliott

RICK HENDRICK, TEAM OWNER, HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS – RACE WINNING OWNER

CAN YOU START OFF BY TALKING ABOUT CHASE ELLIOTT AND HOW HARD HE HAS WORKED TO GET TO THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER?
“Chase is such a great young man and such a super, unbelievable driver and he should have had this win his first season. He should have about, I don’t know, seven or eight wins and for him to… I hated he had to wait this long, but boy what a show he put on today pressing two of the best in the business and being up there all day and not making mistakes. He has got an awesome amount of talent. I think today was a statement. A road course, battling Kyle (Busch) and Denny (Hamlin) and Martin (Truex, Jr.) it was so much fun to see all the fans that think so much of him to show their appreciation. It was exciting.”

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING IN THOSE CLOSING LAPS AS YOU ARE SITTING AT HOME WATCHING THE END OF THIS RACE?
“I was not sitting. I was pacing. Road courses are long laps anyway, but man, when he missed that turn in (turn) 1 I couldn’t believe he thought of it so quick to take the car out of gear to keep from spinning out. It was the longest 20 laps that I have ever watched in a race. I wore out a pair of shoes walking around the living room. Just glued to the TV and on my phone texting. It was nerve racking, but man, what a great win.”

YOU AND YOUR ORGANIZATION HAVE BEEN SITTING ON THE 249 WIN MARK FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO FINALLY HIT 250 WINS AS AN ORGANIZATION?
“It felt the same way when we were at 199. It just seemed like it took forever to get to 200. And then, you know, we have had a dry spell. This has been one of the longest dry spells that we have ever had. We could see we were gaining on it, but it feels so good to get a win for Chevrolet and for our sponsors. Really happy for SunEnergy1, NAPA, Hooters and everybody on Chase’s car. 250 is a lot of races. I guess it means I’m an old man.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS WIN IS GOING TO DO FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION AS FAR AS MOMENTUM? I KNOW OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS AND THE CAMARO ZL1 HAVE SLOWLY BUT SURELY BEEN FINDING THEIR STRIDE AND NOW TO GET THIS WIN CLICKED OFF WHAT DO YOU THINK IT’S GOING TO DO FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION TO BUILD SOME MOMENTUM AS WE HEAD TOWARD THE PLAYOFFS?
“Well, you know, when you have a dry spell, this is the right time to get the momentum. This is the right time to be closing the gap and building that momentum. I’m so proud of all the folks at Hendrick Motorsports for keeping their head down and working hard. The last three weeks Chase has won stages in every one of the races and to see Alex (Bowman) and William (Byron) run well, I think Jimmie (Johnson) got turned there today, but I’m just so proud of the effort for everyone. And everybody at Chevrolet has worked really hard. When you go to a new car there are some things you’ve got to figure out, and then we had some organizational changes with the way we do business and putting everybody in one building. We had a lot of change, new drivers, young drivers, but I feel really good about the future. I feel good going into the Playoffs. It’s going to be super competitive, but I think we know we still have a lot of work to do, but this is going to motivate our people to just step it up again. It’s a great shot in the arm for the whole organization.”

TALK ABOUT THE SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME ON THE CAR THIS WEEKEND AND YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL:

ALEX BOWMAN: “It is a pretty amazing cause working with Nationwide Children’s Hospital. It’s been a lot of fun. I made my third visit up there this week. It’s always a humbling place and puts things in perspective. I’ve been to a lot of different children’s hospitals, but that facility is just amazing. It was really cool to go up there and see everything again. To have Bricen’s name on the car is so special. I actually got to drive the first Nationwide Children’s Hospital car with the patient champion on it in 2013. So, cool to do that again, the last time we had another patient champions name on the car I think was Phoenix with me driving in 2016 and we almost won. So, hopefully, more of that, but it’s just an amazing cause to be a small part of.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Watkins Glen–Alex Bowman

A STRONG RUN. SEEMS LIKE IT WAS LOST JUST IN THAT LAST CORNER?
“Yeah, maybe. I don’t know. I’m not sure. It’s very frustrating. I feel like I had a real opportunity to grab a pole today. I felt like I had a good lap going and then I got a little loose out of Turn 11 and thought I could stay in it and just thought I didn’t have any more room. It was pretty close. That sucks. I just hate to be that close. We haven’t been qualifying real good. It would have been nice to have gotten one today.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Watkins Glen–Qualifying Notes

EVERYBODY IS ANALYZING YOU AND WHAT IT’S GOING TO TAKE FOR YOU TO WIN THIS WEEKEND. DO YOU GET TIRED OF LISTENING TO IT AND JUST CONCENTRATE ON WHAT YOU NEED TO DO YOURSELF?
“In the end, I can just do my best. I’ve come here and put a lot of pressure on myself. We all know what the ultimate goal is when we show up here. I think over the past couple of years it’s gotten a little bit more difficult. I think the field is spread out more. This year, we’ve seen the three fastest guys are usually the three fastest guys every weekend. It doesn’t matter what track we go to, unfortunately they’re good everywhere. I think there’s more of a difference I can make here as a driver, but I don’t see why it’s not going to be those three again that are going to be the fastest cars. As a whole, in the series, we’ve got to catch up to them. So, I just come here and do my best and try to get everything I can out of it. And whatever that holds, I think sometimes people look at it like if we don’t win, it’s a full disappointment of the weekend, but we come here and we run Top 5 all weekend and you get a Top 5 finish, that’s still tough to do and that’s still a good day. So, if there’s a chance to win, we’ll take the chance. And if not, we’ll just get the best that we can and for me, just get everything I can out of the weekend. And if I do that, I can be satisfied with it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Watkins Glen–AJ Allmendinger

HOW IS YOUR FOOT AND YOUR CHEEK? NASCAR MADE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE FOOT BOX AFTER KYLE BUSCH’S ACCIDENT IN 2015. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA IF THOSE IMPROVEMENTS HELPED YOU WALK AWAY?
“I think my left foot is broken and my cheek will never be repaired (laughter). I’m all good. I don’t know. I didn’t know they made those improvements since Kyle’s deal. But, I banged it off the inside of my left foot, I banged it off the gas pedal, and I had a knot the size of a nickel. I’ve had that before a couple of times and it would be fine the next day. It was lingering for a day and a half after that. I wore shoes for the first time yesterday. I was just being lazy and wearing flip-flops.
