Casey Currie Update

Solid weekend in Utah for Currie
Corona, Calif. (June 25, 2014)—Drivers and their crews made their way North for rounds 7&8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Little did they know that they would be making their way into a war zone. This weekends races were held at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City. With a tight course that provided countless action packed moments for fans that packed the stands full. Summertime is in full swing in Tooele and with 90 degree heat filling the air and the hot sun beating down on the course, this would cause the track to dry out quickly and leave dust hanging in the air, which provided fans a course that turned into a war zone just laps into the races.

Currie started round 7 in the back of the pack in his #2 Monster Energy/Jeep ProLite. 14 laps of full throttle racing gave Currie enough time to make up numerous positions. Dust in the air and a class full of 20 trucks that are so close in time, didn’t make this an easy task. Currie crossed the finish line with a 9th place finish.

“Starting in the back means you have to work harder for that win. Everyone else is looking for the same thing and this is when you prove that your truck can handle the constant thrashing and you as a driver can stay focused.” Stated Currie after Saturdays race.

Round 8 was set for another hot day, but with a breeze rolling through the valley, this would help clear the dust quickly from the track during the races. The team made some changes to the truck for Sundays qualifying session and the changes helped Currie qualify in the 4th row. The start of the race would have Curries BFGoodrich tires hooked up and fighting to make up positions with hopes of making it to the podium. With all trucks finding it hard to make a clean pass, the race didn’t see many position changes. One full course caution gathered all the trucks back up but once the green flag dropped again it was still a single file race all the way to the checkered flag. Currie finished round 8 in 6th place.

Currie and his team will be making large changes to the #2 ProLite in July along with numerous testing sessions. Rounds 9 & 10 will be held under the lights of Glen Helen Raceway where it is guaranteed to have a sold out venue.

CASEY CURRIE WITH A SOLID PERFORMANCE AT LUCAS OIL ROUNDS 1 & 2

CASEY CURRIE WITH A SOLID PERFORMANCE AT LUCAS OIL ROUNDS 1 & 2
Corona, Calif. (March 26, 2014)—With a brand new Pro Lite truck and an entirely new set up, Casey Currie started off the 2014 Lucas Oil Off-Road season with a 5th place overall finish and the feedback he needed to further tune the new Pro Lite.

Qualifying 7th in Round 1, Casey and the team made some last minute changes to the BILSTEIN shock absorbers and greatly improved the truck from practice, finishing in 6th place.

In Round 2 Casey would qualify in 4th place, and race with the lead pack from beginning to end, finishing 5th for the day.

“The new truck is improving really fast,” says Casey. “We made a lot of passes and it’s performing better and better with each run as we continue to get more feedback on the track. Now that we have more data and a base to start from, we’ll go home and keep making improvements.”

Building a brand new truck for 2014, Casey and his team decided to take a chance with completely new set up—one they’d never run before.

“We definitely stepped outside the box on this build—we wanted this truck to be different,” said Casey. “If this set up works, it will only be to our advantage, and if it doesn’t, we can at least say we took the chance and made the attempt with everything we had.”

Next up, Casey and the team head out to Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, UT, April 13-20, 2014.

Casey Currie Racing–2014 King Of The Hammers has Great Results for Currie Racing

2014 King Of The Hammers has Great Results for Currie Racing

Johnson Valley, CA. 2-10-14 – Casey Currie returned for the 2014 Griffin King of the Hammers this past weekend, expectations for a win may not have been met, but the odds of finishing the race were on Curries side. The week long event took place in Johnson Valley, CA where over 40,000 off-road/rock crawling enthusiasts flocked to watch 158 entries take their chance at the 150 mile brutal course.

After Curries 3rd place finish in Wednesdays UTV race, he helped his uncle, John Currie prepare for Thursdays Every Man Challenge. John qualified 1st for the race. Just miles into the start of the race, John gained a significant lead on the other competitors and continued to hold that lead all the way to the finish.

“We make sure that racing is fun for our entire family and it was great to see my Uncle as well as my brother finish on the podium.” Stated Casey Currie. “Knowing that my uncle won the EMC in the same vehicle I raced on Friday solidified my concerns on being a top competitor for the King of the Hammers race.”

Casey qualified the #88 Ultra 4 truck in the 44th starting position. The race began at 8am sharp and once on the course, Currie set a steady pace for the first lap. The first lap of the race consisted of dry lake-beds, sand washes and dunes. Currie finished the lap with no major issues and came into the main pit physically in the 20th position.

Laps 2 and 3 were more demanding and difficult with the course making its way through Clawhammer, Wrecking Ball, Chocolate Thunder and more. These laps would take there toll on numerous Ultra 4’s. Some out of the race, others rolled over and giving it all they have to get back on all fours. Currie and co-rider, Oren managed to make the right decision when making their way up the waterfalls.

“It is important to have a co-rider with you that is smart, calm and can assess the situation. This is just what Oren does.” Said Currie.

Currie starts off 2014 King Of The Hammers with a podium finish

Johnson Valley, CA. 2-6-14 – Tuesday marked the first days of qualifying for the multiple races being held at the 2014 Griffin King Of The Hammers. Casey Currie qualified the Currie Racing UTV, Modified Rock Crawler and Ultra 4 on the 1.2-mile course. The course featured a high-speed start along with numerous sections of rock variations. A total of 19 UTV’s qualified for Wednesdays race, with a time of 6:14.8 that set Currie at a 14th starting position. 34 UTV’s are registered for KOH UTV race.

The UTV race course would be 120 miles of punishing terrain. Rock sections would curse numerous racers and cause bottlenecks. Currie immediately put the pass on the slower UTV’s and quickly made his way towards the leaders. By race mile 51, Currie had gained 8 positions. Gaining these spots would give Currie the upper-hand and get ahead of the major bottlenecks. Currie pushed the Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx’s stock motor to the limits across the dry lake bed and after a grueling 6 hours of racing, Casey and co-driver, Oren, would cross the finish taking a final podium position, 3rd place.  Along with Casey finishing, brother, Cody Currie would capture a 2nd place finish in the sportsman UTV class in his #22 Kawasaki Teryx.

Today Currie will be competing in the Smittybilt Every Man Challenge and will be the first off the line as he pulled off the number 1 qualifying spot on Tuesday. The #88 Modified Crawler will be going up against 38 other competitors.

“I am very excited to be a part of the BF Goodrich team this year,” said Currie. “I won my last championship with them and I am looking forward to getting the title back! Not only have they been a big support on the racing side of things, the brand has moved in a great direction outside of racing as well, and I’m excited to move forward with them on the lifestyle side. We have a lot of fun events planned this year, and with the expansion into some new markets and some additional surprises from BFG, 2014 is going to be awesome.”

LOORS Pro Lite Cup at Lake Elsinore
CORONA, Calif. (October 26, 2013) – The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) season will come to an end this weekend with a return visit to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park. Following a strong showing at Las Vegas one month ago, Casey Currie and his Monster Energy/General Tire team head into Southern California with on thing on their mind – the $10,000 purse on Sunday’s season-ending Pro Lite Cup.

One year ago, Currie was in position to win the Cup but suffered a big crash that ended his year on a sour note. He’s rebounded since then, establishing himself as one of the top contenders in the Pro Lite division during the 2013 season and introducing the impressive Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK that has done nothing but turn heads since hitting the track for the first time in June. With a fast truck and nothing to lose, Currie wants the world to know he’s back and gunning for victory on Sunday.

“We’ve made consistent progress on the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK since we debuted it back in Salt Lake City and this weekend we’re pulling out all the stops in search of nothing but a Cup win,” said Currie. “I’ve had this race circled on my calendar since things ended so abruptly last year and there’s nothing I’d like more than to put the Jeep JK on top of the box and walk away with $10k.”

This weekend marks the second visit to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park this season for the LOORS Championship. Currie and the rest of the Pro Lite field will bring the season to an end on Saturday afternoon with the final round of the season before the attention turns to the Pro Lite Cup on Sunday for arguably the most exciting and anticipated race of the year.

“The Pro Lite Cup brings out the best in everyone because there’s $10,000 on the line,” said Currie. “The competition is intense and everyone drives all out, which is what I like about it. In order to win you really need be on top your game, so a victory is all the more satisfying.”

Currie will look to build momentum heading into Sunday’s event while he and the Monster Energy/General Tire team continue to work on the Jeep JK to make it a fast and agile as possible once the green flag drops on the Cup.

“We have got one of the best trucks out there and I would love to put a Jeep on top of the box and show everyone what we were able to accomplish with this incredible truck,” concluded Currie. “It’d be the perfect way to bounce back from last year and a big statement to end the season with. I’m excited to get out there and mix it up.”

Casey Currie–Casey Currie Makes His Presence Felt with Consistent Weekend in Las Vegas

CORONA, Calif. (September 27, 2013) – The return of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) to Las Vegas for the second time during the 2013 season also signified a return to action under the lights for the 13th and 14th rounds of the Pro Lite Championship. After a solid start to the weekend in qualifying, Casey Currie put his Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK at the front of the field during both nights, ultimately securing a pair of top-five efforts, including a podium finish to kick off the weekend

Currie began the 13th round of the season last Friday night by getting shuffled outside the top five at the start of the race. However, as drivers continued to jockey for position, Currie quickly moved back into the top five and engaged in a heated multi-truck battle for position throughout the middle portion of the 12-lap race. Over the final few laps, Currie made moves wherever he could, showing no hesitation to bang doors if needed. The aggressive driving moved Currie into podium position with two laps remaining and he held on to finish third and put the Jeep JK back on the box.

“That was a crazy race, but it was a ton of fun to do battle like that,” said Currie on the podium. “I’ve always said that night racing brings out something extra in the competition and it showed. I had to work hard to put the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK in a good position at the end and I’m stoked it paid off. This is the momentum we need heading into tomorrow.”

On Saturday night, Currie put himself into the top five in the opening laps, but lost several several positions early while engaged in a physical battle with a handful of trucks. He regrouped by maintaining a top-10 position throughout the middle of the race as several caution flags slowed the field and hindered Currie’s ability to make his way back to the front. However, he put the hammer down over the final three laps to climb from eighth to fifth.

“It sucks not getting a full race in,” he said. “We had a fast truck but with all the cautions and the first turn pileups it was a total up and down race. We had the speed to be up front, we just needed to run some clean laps [under green], which never happened. However, I’m excited that we finished top five to keep the points [battle] alive.”

After another solid weekend, Currie and his Monster Energy/General Tire team prepare for the final weekend of the 2013 LOORS Pro Lite season with its second visit to Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park and a home race for the Corona-based squad. The 15th and 16th round of action kicks off on Saturday, October 26th, followed by the final Pro Lite race of the year on Sunday, October 27th.

“The Jeep JK is so fast and I know we have a win in us before we wrap things up,” concluded Currie. “We had some bad luck last time out at Elsinore in May, but we’ve developed a new truck since then and we’re excited to get out there again and win one for all our family and friends. It’d be a great way to end the season after everything my guys have done this summer.”

Casey Currie Returns to Las Vegas

After a great start to the second-to-last weekend of Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) competition, Casey Currie and the Monster Energy/General Tire team will carry a pair of top five qualifying efforts into the 13th and 14th rounds of the Pro Lite season. The action from the series’ second to visit Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2013 kicks off Friday night, followed by a second showing under the lights on Saturday.

Since the arrival of the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK, Currie and his team have continued to step up their performance every time they take to the track. After logging laps for the first time on Thursday morning for practice, Currie and his team fine-tuned the truck for an all-out assault of the track in qualifying. At the end of two sessions, the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK will line up fourth during each night of action.

“We’ve been where we need to be with the Jeep JK to challenge for wins, but luck just hasn’t always been on our side,” explained Currie. “But we refuse to put our heads down and we came out on Thursday gunning for the pole in each session. A top five spot is a good place to start for us and we’ll take advantage of it once the green flag drops.”

As the team inches closer to finally securing its first win of the season, a little history is also on the line in an effort to become the first Jeep to sit atop the podium in LOORS competition.

After a pair of top 10’s results at the previous stop in Reno, Currie currently sits fifth in the Pro Lite standings heading into Las Vegas. With four podium finishes to his credit this season, another strong and consistent weekend for Currie will undoubtedly make him a factor in the battle for the Pro Lite crown. Coincidentally, Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the site of Currie’s best weekend of 2013 back in April when he claimed back-to-back runner-up efforts.

“When we left here in April we walked away with the points lead, so there’s no doubt that the front of the field is where we need to be and where we expect to be,” added Currie. “I really enjoy the Vegas track and I’m looking forward to putting the momentum back on our side.”

This weekend’s return to “Sin City” is highlighted by the second and final night race of the season. Currie has an affinity for racing under the lights and it’s only adding to his anticipation to put the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK on the line and make a charge to victory.

“We’re here to win. It’s a simple as that,” concluded Currie. “My guys have put in too much work to not have a chance to enjoy what its like to win, so it’s the only thing on my mind the next two nights.”

Casey Currie Battles His Way to a Pair of Top 10 Efforts

CORONA, Calif. (August 29, 2013) – Casey Currie and the Monster Energy/General Tire team knew the intensity in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) Pro Lite division would pick up as the 2013 season headed to Reno’s Wild West Motorsports Park. As a result, Currie did all he could to put the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK in the mix at 11th and 12th rounds of the championship, ultimately capturing a pair of top-10 efforts.

Currie began his weekend with some momentum by posting top-three times in the initial Friday practice sessions. He carried that over into Saturday by posting the second-fastest lap in qualifying and giving himself prime track position for the 12-lap race.

At the drop of the green, the Pro Lite field scattered throughout the first turn at Wild West Motorsports Park. While jockeying for position Currie was hit by another truck, which forced him to lose some spots and also did damage to the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK. Despite that, the veteran driver gave it his all to maintain a podium position for the bulk of the race, but settled for an eighth-place result in the end.

“It’s frustrating to start on the pole and get taken out in the first turn,” explained Currie. “My truck was damaged with a slow leak in my front left tire and right side suspension damage. I tried holding on as long as I could, but every restart made it tough to hold position. We did what we could and still grabbed a top-10 finish.”

On Sunday Currie landed seventh on the qualifying charts, but when the green flag waved that afternoon for the final Pro Lite main of the weekend he wasted little time in making a charge towards the front. Despite starting outside the top 10, Currie skyrocketed into the top five by Lap 2 and was in search for more. Currie encountered some misfortune in the middle of the 12-lap race when a competitor once again made contact with the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK and forced Currie to fall outside the top 10. In the face of adversity, Currie rebounded to make a late charge and climb up to seventh by the time the checkers flew.

“We really had to work for that one,” said Currie. “We had a top five in the truck today, but circumstances forced us to fight a little harder for our finish. We were able to come back well which makes me happy because all the hard work my team has been putting in is paying off with a really quick Jeep JK. We just didn’t have the best racing luck this weekend.”

With a pair of hard-fought top 10 finishes under their belt, Currie and his Monster Energy/General Tire team now have their sights set on the 13th and 14th rounds of the LOORS Pro Lite season. Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be the host site of the penultimate weekend of the championship, featuring the second night races of the season on September 20th and 21st.

Currie was dominant in Sin City one year ago, posting 1-2 results over two nights of action. He also scored a pair of runner-up efforts in April at Las Vegas during the third and fourth rounds of the 2013 season.

Casey Currie Looks to Continue Charge Towards the

Casey Currie Looks to Continue Charge Towards the Front this Weekend as LOORS Visits Reno

CORONA, Calif. (August 23, 2013) – After one of his best outings of the season at the previous Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) stop at Glen Helen, confidence is high for Casey Currie and his Monster Energy/General Tire team heading into the 11th and 12th rounds of the 2013 season from Wild West Motorsports Park in Reno, Nev., this weekend.

The new Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK Pro Lite gets faster every time it takes to the track and with a runner-up effort in its most recent effort, Currie is confident that a win is in the cards this weekend in the “Biggest Little City in the World.”

“My team has made this truck ridiculously fast and it will do pretty much anything I ask of it,” said Currie. “We made some big gains at Glen Helen and now we’re trying to build off of that so that we’re even better this weekend in Reno. There’s still a lot of racing left this season and I’ve got my sights set on continuing our forward progress in the championship.”

After his strong performance in Southern California, Currie moved into fourth in the Pro Lite standings, eight points out of third. With a trio of runner-up finishes and a third place result to his credit this season, Currie has been a fixture in the battle up front. In a series where aggression and physical competition are some of the keys to success, the championship picture can change dramatically on any given lap.

“Everyone is stepping up their game as the season wears on and the competition is getting really intense out there,” said Currie. “Glen Helen produced some of the best racing I’ve ever been a part of and I know that’s going to continue this weekend and beyond. We’re on our game and we’re ready for whatever lies ahead.”

Currie has spent some downtime in the Reno area in preparations for this weekend’s race and the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK will take to the track for the first time on Friday morning for Pro Lite practice. Last season, Currie emerged victorious at Wild West Motorsports Park and the team will use its past success at the facility to their advantage in preparations for each round of racing on Saturday and Sunday.

“We know what it takes to win here, so hopefully that plays in our favor once we get on track. Qualifying on Saturday and Sunday morning will be key in getting a good starting spot for the races, so hopefully we can put this Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK up towards the front and make our chances of repeating that victory even better.”

Casey Currie in Top Form as LOORS Races Under the Lights at Glen Helen

Casey Currie and the Monster Energy/General Tire team were at the top of their game this past weekend in San Bernardino, Calif., as Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) were raced under the lights at Glen Helen Raceway. Currie’s Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK was a force to be reckoned with during both nights of Pro Lite action and ended the weekend with one of his best outings of the season, highlighted by a runner-up effort on Sunday. The performance vaulted Currie back into the Pro Lite title hunt with five rounds of racing remaining.

Due to the special nature of the first of two weekends of night racing this season the format for track time was altered, resulting in a loaded day of action on Friday. Currie began the weekend with practice on Friday morning and set up his truck for the pair of qualifying sessions scheduled for later that afternoon. Friday’s first qualifying session set the grid for Round 9 on Saturday evening and Currie got the weekend off to a strong start by qualifying fourth. Just a few hours later, Currie returned to the track to earn his starting spot for Round 10 on Sunday night, getting even more out of the Jeep JK to post the third-fastest time.

With a scheduled start time nearing 9 p.m. locally, Currie spent the day on Saturday and Sunday enjoying some time with his family, friends, and crew members while also preparing to attack the track once the green flag dropped. He and his team ensured the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK was dialed in by making some final tweaks and set off to put on a show for the fans.

On Saturday, Currie positioned himself in seventh on the opening lap, but moved into the top five shortly thereafter. He engaged in battle with rivals Brian Deegan and Shel
don Creed for the majority of the race, with the trio swapping positions throughout. The battle was exciting for the fans to watch and equally as exciting for Currie behind the wheel. He eventually got the momentum he needed in the closing laps to take over fourth place on the final lap and cap off a stellar run.

“We didn’t get aggressive enough in the beginning and it hurt us in the end,” explained Currie. “Our fourth-place [finish] is good for points, but tomorrow night I will get on it harder in the beginning.”

On Sunday, Currie stayed true to his word and was hard on the gas from the moment the green flag waved. He started inside the top five, but continued to be aggressive during the opening laps to put himself in podium position by Lap 5. For the remainder of the race Currie once again went door-to-door with Deegan, the Pro Lite points leader entering the weekend, and the pair exchanged positions on several occasions, bringing the crowd to its feet. Currie refused to give in to his fellow title contender and took over second place for good with two laps remaining.

“I pushed hard early and got into the top three,” said Currie. “We had a crazy battle to the finish and I wish we had a couple more laps [to get to the front]. I am thrilled with how hard the team is working and how great the Jeep is driving. The team has hit its stride and now we need to focus on being this aggressive at every event.”

The 4-2 results capped off an impressive weekend for Currie, who is now back into the thick of the battle for the Pro Lite crown. The Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK has already become one of the strongest trucks in the field following just four rounds of action and Currie now has considerable momentum heading into the final three weekends of the championship.

Casey Currie Challenges at the Front of the Field at LOORS Rounds 7 & 8 from Miller Motorsports Park

Casey Currie and the Monster Energy/General Tire team showed they are a force to be reckoned with in the Pro Lite division by challenging for wins during the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) visit to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, last weekend. Currie debuted his brand new Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK at the picturesque facility, and was in the mix at the front of the field throughout each day of racing before some late misfortune hindered an otherwise impressive weekend. Nevertheless, Currie and his team left Utah with their heads held high and full of confidence heading into the second half of the season.

The weekend prior to the Round 7 & 8, Currie took advantage of the opportunity to get some early track time at Miller Motorsports Park in a LOORS regional event. The information the team gathered was applied to race weekend and it helped position the brand new truck design with the seventh and fifth-fastest lap time in the two Friday practice sessions.

Currie and his crew made some additional adjustments heading into the first race of the weekend on Saturday and qualified third that morning. As the green flag waved for the afternoon’s 14-lap Pro Lite Main, Currie positioned the Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK into sixth place. After a quick move into the top five, Currie suffered a little trouble and fell 10th early. However, he instantly began an impressive charge through the field over the next nine laps, moving back into the top five and into an intense battle for the podium. Currie attempted to make a pass to put himself in podium position with three laps remaining, and hit one of the K-rails lining the inside and outside of the track resulting in a broken front suspension. Currie was unable to complete the final laps and settled for 20th.

“I hate that I made a mistake there right at the end,” said Currie following the race. “The truck was flying and I knew we had enough to get onto the podium, so I tried to take advantage at the first opportunity I saw and just misjudged the inside of the K-rail by one inch. That’s not the way I wanted to end the first day, especially with how hard all of my guys are working, but we know we have a good truck and we’ll look to bounce back on Sunday.”
On Sunday morning, Currie kicked off the eighth round of the season with the third-fastest time in qualifying and showed there were no lasting effects from Saturday’s hard luck. As the race got underway that afternoon, Currie asserted himself in the lead pack and maintained a spot inside the top four for the majority of the 14-lap Pro Lite Main. As the final five laps approached, Currie stepped up his aggression and began to make moves towards the front in his Monster Energy/General Tire Jeep JK. As he attempted to make a pass for the lead on Lap 11, Currie was spun out after contact from another competitor. He got back on the throttle quickly and re-entered the race, salvaging a ninth-place finish.

“We’re right there, but we just aren’t having the luck we need at the moment,” said Currie. “I couldn’t be happier with my team and with the momentum we have right now, and we will be a force at the next round in Glen Helen.”

Casey Currie Wraps Up Maiden Voyage on HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour with MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater

CORONA, Calif. (June 12, 2013) – Casey Currie took advantage of some downtime from competition in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series to take part in his very first HOT ROD Power Tour last week. Over the span of seven days, from June 1-7, Currie and his one-of-a-kind MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater joined hundreds of the coolest cars in America on a journey through the South, visiting seven cities across five states and covering over 1,000 miles.

“To be a part of the Power Tour was an amazing experience,” said Currie. “The passion people have for hot rods is incredible and I feel honored to have had the chance to bring something different to the experience with the MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater.”

Currie and his fellow Power Tourers kicked things off in Arlington, Texas, with a full day showcase of the finest hot rods in the Lone Star State. From there, Currie took the street-legal MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater through the highways and backroads of the deep south. Following a pair of stops in Arkansas and a trip through legendary Memphis, Tenn., Currie showed what the MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater is capable of for the local media in Birmingham, Ala., by doing some drifting and donuts on the morning news.

From there the HOT ROD Power Tour hit the home stretch, visiting Chattanooga, Tenn., before reaching its final destination in Concord, N.C., and the zMax Dragway at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As if logging over 1,000 miles and sharing the passion for hot rodding with thousands of fellow motor heads wasn’t enough, Currie joined in the tour’s final celebration at the dragstrip by taking part in a record breaking burnout that featured over 100 hot rods, including the MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater.

“It was a huge rush to lay on the throttle wide open like that and hear the roar of over 100 hot rods,” exclaimed Currie. “I kept it going as long as my tires could hold it and in the end I actually ended up putting a hole in the asphalt! To know that we set a record by doing the burnout just topped it all off. What an amazing experience the HOT ROD Power Tour was. I can’t wait to come back next year.”

Currie and the MAVTV Pro Lite 2-Seater brought smiles and excitement to the thousands of enthusiasts who came out to support the HOT ROD Power Tour and be a part of the experience. Currie left his mark on the Power Tour, with a trail of rubber through all seven cities.

The Monster Energy/General Tire Pro Lite driven by Currie will return to action on June 21-23 for the seventh and eighth round of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

Casey Currie Battles Through Adversity to Leave LOORS Lake Elsinore Round Second in Pro Lite Championship

Casey Currie Battles Through Adversity to Leave LOORS

Lake Elsinore Round Second in Pro Lite Championship

CORONA, Calif. (May 22, 2013) – Despite
its toughest weekend to date in the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series
(LOORS) season, the Monster Energy/General Tire squad led by Casey Currie overcame
adversity during both days of competition from Lake Elsinore, Calif., to leave
his hometown race second in the Pro Lite championship.

The speed
was definitely there for Currie and it showed immediately with impressive lap
times during Friday practice on the 1.1-mile circuit. Currie piloted his
Monster Energy/General Tire truck to top three times in each of his two group
sessions. On Saturday morning, Currie laid down a hot lap in qualifying that
landed him inside the top five on the starting grid for the first race of the
weekend.

As the
green flag waved to get Round 5 underway on Saturday afternoon, Currie put
himself in position to battle at the front of the field until his first
encounter with bad luck occurred early on. After the pole sitter spun just
after the finish, Currie was collected in the ensuing chaos and fell to 16th
in the running order, forcing him to battle his way back through the field.
Currie’s exceptional abilities behind the wheel were on display through to the
caution flag at the halfway point, passing seven trucks in just a handful of
laps. After restarting in ninth, Currie kept the charge going through the finish.
The speed was there in the Monster Energy/General Tire machine, but Currie
simply ran out of laps and ultimately claimed eighth spot at the checkered
flag.

“That’s
not the way you want things to go, but sometimes that’s just how things work
out in this sport,” said Currie. “The Monster Energy/General Tire truck was
driving really well and it made for some easy work to get back inside the top
10. I would have liked to be further towards the front and I think we had the
truck to do it with, but we ran out of laps there at the end.”

Round 6
kicked off on Sunday morning with qualifying to set the grid for the final Main
of the weekend. Currie once again was on point and laid down a solid time that lined
him up inside the top five for the final race of the weekend.

As the
race got underway, Currie made quick moves to be a part of the lead pack, but
was again hit with misfortune when another spin from a competitor collected the
Monster Energy/General Tire truck. This time, Currie wasn’t fortunate enough to
come away unscathed and a broken front suspension dropped him to the tail end
of the field in 28th spot. Despite losing the ability to make
another charge through the field, Currie refused to give up and soldiered on
through the remainder of the race to post a 20th-place finish,
earning highly valuable championship points as a result.

“This
just wasn’t our weekend,” said Currie. “Sometimes racing is harsh like that.
All we can do is take our lumps, finish strong, and look forward to the next
round. Hopefully we got the bad luck out of the way this weekend and will get
back into this championship fight in Utah next month.”

Currie’s
mixed results and hard luck unfortunately forced him to drop out of the Pro
Lite points lead and into second place. Despite the adversity in Lake Elsinore,
Currie still sits within striking distance at such an early point in the
season, 39 points out of first.

Prior to
the on-track action for the weekend, Currie spent Thursday morning with local
KTLA 5 reporter Gayle Anderson on the KTLA Morning News. Currie gave Anderson a
taste of what the Monster Energy/General Tire Pro Lite is capable of with his
popular two-seater truck. The chance to be a co-pilot alongside Currie has
become a favorite for the media and the sport’s sponsors.

Currie
and the Monster Energy/General Tire team will set their sights on reclaiming
the Pro Lite points lead at Rounds 7 & 8 of the 2013 LOORS season from Miller
Motorsports Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, on June 21-23. Currie will debut
a sharp-looking new truck for the event that is sure to turn some heads with
its aggressive-yet-nostalgic design.

Casey Currie Looking for Home Field Advantage as LOORS Pro Lite Points Leader Heading into Lake Elsinore

CORONA, Calif. (May 17, 2013) – Following back-to-back runner-up finishes at the third and fourth rounds of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORS) in Las Vegas, Monster Energy/General Tire driver Casey Currie is looking forward to coming home to Southern California for Rounds 5 and 6 of the championship from Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in Lake Elsinore, Calif., May 18th and 19th.

Currie is looking for a little home field advantage on the track that sits closest to his hometown of Anaheim Hills as well as his Corona race shop. While he’s consistently finished at the front of the field this season, Currie wants nothing more than the thrill of victory this weekend so he can add to his early Pro Lite points lead.

“I always love racing at home and the track at Lake Elsinore has always been one we’ve excelled on,” said Currie. “It’s been a great start to the season to this point, but I want that win to help cement myself atop the point standings.”

Currie has spent the last three weeks making minor adjustments to his Monster Energy/General Tire truck, looking to find the right combination that will enable him to take that next step on the track and battle for victory. Currie is eager to rebound from a tough weekend in Lake Elsinore last season where he showed impressive speed and ran at the front of the field on both Saturday and Sunday, only to suffer misfortune in the late stages of each race.

Friday will signify the first time Currie’s Monster Energy/General Tire ride hits the track with a pair of practice sessions. After he makes the necessary adjustments to get the balance right and maximize the traction from all four General Tires, Currie will have the opportunity to qualify and earn his spot on the grid before each respective round on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

“We’re so close to mixing it up out front,” he added. “My qualifying has been solid, but I know I can lay down a better lap. I’ll need to if I’m going to really have a chance at winning one of these rounds this weekend. I’d love to be able to sweep Saturday and Sunday and walk away making a statement, but if we’re able to keep doing what we’ve been doing it’ll be a good weekend.”

Casey Currie Takes Over LOORS Pro Lite Points Lead

Casey Currie Takes Over LOORS Pro Lite Points Lead Following Back-to-Back Runner-Up Finishes in Las Vegas

CORONA, Calif. (May 1, 2013) – This past weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Casey Currie and the Monster Energy/General Tire team built on the solid foundation it established at the opening rounds of the 2013 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORS) season last month. Currie was the most consistent driver on the track all weekend long in Las Vegas, posting back-to-back runner-up finishes in the third and fourth rounds of the championship to take over the Pro Lite points lead.

On Friday afternoon, Currie spent the day dialing his Monster Energy/General Tire truck over the course of two sessions. Currie positioned himself with the seventh and sixth-fastest times within each session. The following morning in qualifying, Currie put his truck in 6th place on the grid for Round 3 on Saturday afternoon.

As the green flag waved on the first Pro Lite Main of the weekend, Currie quickly made moves towards the front, picking up two positions on the opening lap. He continued his forward progress throughout the remainder of the first half of the 12-lap race and sat in sixth at the time of the full-course caution at the halfway ma
rk. When racing resumed, Currie was on the charge yet again, grabbing two more spots and beginning a hotly contested battle for fourth. On the final lap, Currie refused to let up and grabbed two more spots before taking the checkered flag in second.

“We struggled all day Friday and it was because of a decision I made at the shop,” Currie commented. “My team worked really hard Saturday morning and fixed the issue. Starting in the back made it tough to get to the front, but with the truck working awesome we took our time and made it all the way to second.”

As Round 4 got underway with qualifying on Sunday morning, Currie’s momentum from his runner-up effort led to his quickest lap of the weekend, which lined him up in seventh on the grid.

At the drop of the green flag, Currie asserted himself just outside the top five and patiently waited for his opportunity to strike. On Lap 2 he made his move and jumped into fourth, where he would stay through the break at the halfway point. Currie battled hard over the final half of competition, jumping into second with one lap remaining to claim another runner-up performance.

“The track was hammered for our race on Sunday,” said Currie. “To finish this round shows how durable the truck is. On another note, I’m excited to see all three trucks that were built in my shop finish 1-2-3. Also, with two solid days of racing we took over the points lead.”

Currie was rewarded for being the driver to score the most points on the weekend by taking over the championship lead heading into the third weekend of competition next month. He currently holds a 3-point lead in the standings after posting 3-4-2-2 results through the first four rounds of action.

Currie Looks to Hit LOORS Jackpot in Las Vegas

CORONA, Calif. (April 23, 2013) — Like most who travel to Sin City, Casey Currie is heading to Las Vegas next weekend with one thing on his mind; winning. The Monster Energy/General Tire driver wants to stand on the top step of the podium for Rounds 3 and 4 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, April 26-28.

“I’ve had some success at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said Currie. “This race is always a good one for us.  Not only on the track, but off of it as well, we all like to have a good time and what better place for that than Las Vegas.”

Currie finished first and second last year at Las Vegas after setting the fastest qualifying time in practice. Unfortunately for Currie, two big inversions saw him starting near the back of the field in each race. With his past success at Las Vegas along with the momentum he is carrying from a strong performance at the season opener in Phoenix, Currie is hopeful for another great result.

“We had two good races last time out,” continued Currie. “We just had some bad luck that kept us from getting a win. We’ve been working hard and trying some new things on the truck to keep moving forward and we want to get our first win of the year this weekend.”
