KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 4 BUDWEISER CHEVROLET SS – RACE WINNER (CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER)
WHAT IS THIS MOMENT LIKE FOR YOU?
“Well I just really don’t know what to even to say about how much I appreciate this. Everybody on this Budweiser, Jimmy Johns, Outback team – Stewart-Haas Racing, Gene Haas, Tony Stewart, for everything that they put into this team. It came down to a pit call and I thought man, we are in big trouble here. Rodney Childers (crew chief) and all these guys that have put together these teams have just done an amazing job. Without Chevrolet and Hunt Brothers, Bad Boys Buggies, Mobil 1, Bass Pro Shops…” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Homestead-Miami–Postrace

Chevrolet Wins NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Championship
2014 Title is 12th Consecutive and 38th Overall for the Bowtie Brand

DETROIT (November 16, 2013) – With the conclusion of the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Chevrolet clinched the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ Championship. It marks the 12th consecutive year and 38th time overall that the Bowtie Brand has won the prestigious title in NASCAR’s premiere series. It is the second Manufacturers’ award for the Chevrolet SS race car.

“Winning the Manufacturers’ championship is one of the goals we set at the beginning of every season,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “This championship is the result of great teamwork by the owners, drivers, crew chiefs, crews and technical partners. Special thanks to the Chevrolet powertrain team, along with the engine shops at Hendrick Motorsports and Earnhardt-Childress Racing for delivering the right combination of power, fuel economy, and reliability throughout the entire season. Congratulations to everyone who has made this special achievement possible for Chevrolet.”

In the 2014 season Chevrolet drivers captured 20 victories. Chevrolet won its first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Manufacturers’ award in 1958 and now with the 2014 Cup secured, Chevrolet has reached an unprecedented 38th title.

The Team Chevy drivers that have contributed to the manufacturers’ points that achieved the title for Chevrolet are: Kevin Harvick (five wins), Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (four wins); Jeff Gordon (four wins), Jimmie Johnson (four wins), AJ Allmendinger (one win), Kurt Busch (one win), Kasey Kahne (one win); along with top finishers Landon Cassill, Kyle Larson, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart.

Anderson Qualifies No. 8, Set for Stellar Sunday at NHRA Finals

Pomona, Calif., November 15, 2014 – Greg Anderson and the white Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro are all warmed up and ready for the final Sunday of the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. The four-time NHRA Pro Stock world champion ultimately qualified in the No. 8 position and will race Dave Connolly in the first round, while teammate Jason Line goes to battle for a seventh season title for KB Racing and Team Summit.

“Jason and I ended up on the same side of the ladder, and that obviously isn’t what we wanted to happen – but we’re just going to have to race as hard as we can tomorrow with our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros and hope for the best-case scenario,” said Anderson. Line is just 19 points – less than a single round – behind points leader Erica Enders-Stevens.

Anderson’s first three qualifying rounds were less than hoped for, producing a best time of 6.848, but in the final session his Summit Racing Camaro picked up the pace with a much improved 6.547 at 211.89 mph. Anderson moved all the way up to eighth and in doing so was awarded a bonus qualifying point as the third-quickest pass of the session.

“The best case for tomorrow is that Jason and Erica race each other in the final round. That would be a dream day for us and certainly a dream day for Pro Stock – and possibly the coolest finish to a Pro Stock championship ever,” said Anderson. “Everyone is going to be talking about Pro Stock tomorrow. It’s going to be fun.”

J. FORCE READY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE ON SUNDAY IN POMONA
POMONA, CA – The battle for the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Funny Car World Championship is shaping up to be a dogfight of epic proportions for John Force. The 16-time NHRA Mello Yello champ is looking to rack up another title to his impressive racing resume but he knows it will take going rounds and a little bit of luck to claim that victory. DETROIT (November 15, 2014) – With Kyle Larson’s third-place finish in the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Chevrolet clinched the Manufacturers’ Championship in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The 2014 achievement marks the 16th time the Bowtie Brand has captured the prestigious Bill France Performance Cup.

It is also the first time Camaro has earned a Manufacturers’ award in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The Chevy Camaro made its series debut at Daytona International Speedway in February of 2013 and has since made 19 trips to Victory Lane.

En route to securing the Bill France Performance Cup, Chevrolet drivers have won 15 races this season in the Nationwide Series. The quest for the coveted 2014 Manufacturers’ title began at the first race of the season when Regan Smith piloted his No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro to the victory at Daytona International Speedway.

In addition to Smith, the following Team Chevy drivers contributed to this special award with manufacturers’ points-paying finishes: Kevin Harvick (four wins); Chase Elliott (three wins); Brendan Gaughan (two wins); Kasey Kahne (two wins); Kyle Larson (two wins); Ty Dillon (one win); Paul Menard (one win) and Regan Smith (one win).

J. FORCE, HIGHT IN TOP HALF FRIDAY AT AUTO CLUB FINALS
POMONA, CA – John Force was playing for keeps today as he fired the opening salvo during day one of qualifying at the 50th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals from the hallowed grounds of Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California. The 16-time NHRA Mello Yello World Champion is racing for another title and knows every point is critical if he’s going to get around his rival Matt Hagan. The winningest driver in NHRA history ended the day qualified in the number four spot and claimed two valuable NHRA Mello Yello Bonus Points, cutting his deficit to 19 points unofficially or one round of racing.
It was in the opening session the Castrol GTX High Mileage Mustang blasted right down the groove at Auto Club Raceway and turned in a 4.015 second run at 316.60 mph. This put Force in the number two spot and he picked up two additional bonus points after the run. Force knew Hagan would step it up and therefore he rallied his team as they went to work with crew chiefs Mike Neff and John Medlen as they reviewed the run data and went to work on extracting more power from the already potent 8000 horsepower BOSS 500 engine. “We had a great Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet but the bottom just wasn’t the perfect place for us to run. I could feel the tires going away and then we needed to move up. So when we saw some of those guys running fast laps a little bit higher up, I was looking forward to making that last lap. The guys made some great adjustments. We unfortunately had a tire going down on the left front, so I don’t know if that helped us or hurt us, but it was pretty nice to get that pole. PERMATEX/FOLLOW A DREAM TEAM BACK AT POMONA FOR 1ST TIME IN 5 YEARS

Jay Blake’s Permatex/Follow A Dream team heads to the birthplace of drag racing, the Los Angeles area, for the final race of the 2014 season, the NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., where the team was runner-up in 2005 and won it all in 2006. It’s the first appearance in six weeks for the team, whose season was highlighted by victory at Lebanon Valley Dragway, where they scored for the second year in a row and the third time in five years.
“We’ve had some great moments at Pomona,” said Blake, who spoke at the Veteran’s Hospital in Long Beach, Calif., and at the Universal Technical Institute in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., earlier this week. “Permatex’s sponsorship made it possible for us to bring Follow A Dream’s message of the power of positive thinking and self-determination to veterans and to the students at UTI. I was part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony at UTI for their new veteran’s building, and none of that would have been possible without Permatex’s involvement with our team.”
It also made possible a lifelong dream for driver Todd Veney, a Southern California native who’s competing at the historic Pomona track for the first time ever. “The first national event I ever went to was right here at the Winternationals in 1972,” he said. “I was born out here, lived here until I was 10, and moved right back out to L.A. the day after I graduated from college, and I’ve always wanted to race here.”
Qualifying begins Thursday and concludes with two sessions on Friday. The first round is Saturday, and final eliminations are set for Sunday.

Desire to win burns strong for Anderson as season comes to a close

Mooresville, N.C., November 11, 2014 – The 2014 season of NHRA’s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series was a most unusual year for Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson. The four-time world champion had to sit out the first five races of the year as he recovered from open-heart surgery, and although the delayed start was vital to his health, it was an admittedly difficult three-month period for a man driven by an intense hunger for victory on the racetrack. As the 50th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals come into view, Anderson is ablaze with renewed optimism for a final chance at a trophy in 2014.
