Anderson Plans to Do His Part in His First Las Vegas Race of 2014

Mooresville, N.C., Oct. 28, 2014 – It has been a full year since Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson has raced at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and this weekend, the seven-time Vegas winner will return with a desire that is only heightened after sitting out the spring race held earlier this season. Anderson, who missed the first five races of the year while he successfully recovered from heart surgery, has a remarkable record at The Strip, and at the upcoming 14th annual NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas, he plans to see that record expanded.

“We’ve been working our tails off since we left Maple Grove Raceway three weeks ago; we sent two of our cars to Vegas to test, and I tested in Mooresville for four days before that. We’ve done a lot of on-track testing, and we’ve done a lot in the engine shop. This is a very big race for us, and there is a lot on the line,” said Anderson, whose KB Racing teammate Jason Line is in possession of the Pro Stock points lead and in pursuit of his third world championship in the category. Anderson, a four-time Pro Stock season titlist, just missed the Countdown to the Championship and is playing the spoiler role this time around.

“This is our Super Bowl, and expectations are high,” he continued. “They need to be. We need to have a great weekend so that we can bring a championship trophy back to KB Racing and the Summit Racing team. We’ve been putting every effort into it, and everyone here is very excited. It’s going to take both of our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros to get the job done, and I can help by doing my part and knocking out some important competitors. I need to help Jason find his way to the winner’s circle, and that’s what team cars are for – we race as a team. The main goal right now is to win the championship for KB Racing and Summit.”

With just two races left before the 2014 championship is decided, Anderson and the KB Racing crew are all systems go and are holding nothing back. The race in Las Vegas brings them back on home turf, as team owners Ken and Judy Black call Las Vegas home, and spirits are high.

“We hope we’re better than we’ve been all year,” said Anderson, who has visited three final rounds this season. “It’s about peaking at the right time, and I hope and expect that these last two races will be our best of the season. I don’t think any other team has been lounging at the beach these last three weeks, I think we’ve all put in equal effort, and the winner will be whoever made the most gain. For us, this is hugely important. Our goal is to wrestle the championship back for Chevrolet Performance and make them proud. We want to put KB Racing back on top.”
