Baggsy & Lando Burnouts

As the NDA is lifted, we can proudly share with you the epic events of the past seven days. SB Motorsport undertook a huge task to deliver an activation for Lando Norris and the Monster Energy team.
With the Festival of Speed looming, we weren’t sure if this activation would even be possible. A wrap and a de-wrap alone would normally be tight on time. However, FLS rose to the challenge, adapting Lando’s livery to fit the iconic lines of the Liberty Walk-kitted GTR, all while Baggsy was committed to his scheduled events in Europe and the team at SB base camp handled the logistics.
The premise of the week was to create pre-content through London ahead of the Grand Prix, with Lando himself doing a burnout to close the edit.

Three days of 3:00 AM call times in London, managing the logistics of transporting the GTR on a MAN military truck, along with a fleet of Monster Energy vehicles, was no small task. Every member of the team rallied together to ensure the GTR was maintained and performed flawlessly when needed. Many of the locations only allowed for a single take, so credit goes to all our partners for providing us with products we can rely on with full confidence.
On Thursday morning, the GTR sat proudly above a strong army of fluorescent fans as they eagerly awaited Lando’s arrival at his merch store. Sky TV and F1 media zoomed in on the car in anticipation of the stunt.

Lando, a petrolhead who owns an R32 GTR, was keen to get behind the wheel and experience 1000hp under his foot, lighting up the Tirestreets rubber on the one-off custom-forged Strom wheels.

Smiles beamed as the smoke filled the cabin, and Lando asked when he could fully drift the GTR. As the flames popped and the smoke cleared, we thought we were done. The crowd erupted as Lando headed back to the paddock, but Sky TV requested another burnout with lead host Natalie Pinkham to open the F1 show. When broadcast, Baggsy and SB Motorsport had a strong presence throughout an impressive 3-minute segment, reaching over 10 million outlets.

While our usual livery wasn’t on display, we want to thank you all for your continued support. Unfortunately, the livery was mandated by Team Lando, and graphics and partner logos had to be kept off the car per McLaren’s requirements.

However, the car is back today in its regular look, and we’d love you to feel as proud as we were in this project, knowing it’s our partnerships that make it possible for us to work with F1 stars and teams at a truly professional level.F1 was a minefield and a learning curve for us, teaching us much about what we could and couldn’t do, even Baggsy’s wardrobe was decided by production.Once again, a heartfelt thank you from SB Motorsport for your support. While this surprise event was out of the ordinary, we hope you’ll find a story in it and be able to connect your parts to the images attached. With less than 10 hours of sleep, Baggsy was already attending the TeamSport Karting Black Flag event in Warwickshire with the Navara, supporting the entire staff from across EMEA, just ahead of the Festival of Speed.
