Acura NSX GT3s Again the Focus at VIRginia International Raceway
• Meyer Shank Racing, Katherine Legge continue GTD title challenge
• Lawson Aschenbach, Justin Marks seek to turn speed into results
• Mario Farnbacher returns to the MSR driver lineup
TORRANCE, Calif. (August 15, 2018) – Acura’s NSX GT3s head to the fast and challenging VIRginia International Raceway road course this weekend, as Meyer Shank Racing and Katherine Legge continue their fight for the GTD class championship.
Located in the rolling hills of southern Virginia, VIR is the scene for the second of two rounds exclusively featuring the GT categories of the 2018 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Legge and her MSR team currently are second in the GTD title battle, with three rounds remaining.
“Katherine and everyone at Meyer Shank Racing have been working extremely hard throughout the season, as we all saw with their 1-2 sweep at Detroit and trio of second-place finishes for the #86 Acura,” said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development and Acura Motorsports. “Likewise, the #93 NSX GT3 has been quick at nearly every race this year. As the season enters its final stages, all of us at Acura, MSR and HPD are determined to carry the fight right to the finish.”

The MSR team has contended for GTD honors at nearly every race this season. The #86 Acura of Legge and regular co-driver Parente finished second at Daytona, Mid-Ohio and Watkins Glen; and led for extended periods at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
At Detroit, Mario Farnbacher moved over from third-driver duties with the MSR #93 Acura to join Legge in the #86 for the GTD class win. He returns to partner with Legge for the second time this season at VIR.
With three GT races remaining, Acura and Legge remain second in both the GTD Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ championships. Legge trails points leaders Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow by 18 points (250-232), while Acura remains second in the Manufacturers’ Championship with 233 points to 257 for Lamborghini.
The #93 NSX GT3 of Lawson Aschenbach and Justin Marks finished second in Detroit, completing the first 1-2 sweep for MSR in the team’s IMSA racing history, and was leading at Watkins Glen before being taken out of the race as a result of contact from a Prototype. Aschenbach and Marks also led several times during the 12 Hours of Sebring, and contended for a podium at Mid-Ohio, finishing fourth.
