Line Proud to Represent Summit Racing at Title Event in Norwalk
MOORESVILLE, N.C., June 30, 2015 – The 9th annual NHRA Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals is an event circled and highlighted on the calendar for KB Racing Pro Stock competitor Jason Line. The driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro looks forward each year to participating in his sponsor’s event at the racetrack that bears its name, Summit Racing Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Line, of Mooresville, N.C., has been to two final rounds there and has earned one victory, and he is eager for the chance at another trophy with Summit Racing engraved on the plate.
“It’s overwhelming in a really good way to get to race in Norwalk,” said Line, who was low qualifier in 2008 and then beat Mike Edwards to win the trophy there in 2009. “There are always so many folks from Summit Racing Equipment there to support us, and without them, none of this would be possible. It’s a very fun weekend from start to finish, and getting to meet everyone and see them there with their families is something we look forward to every year. They’re all proud to work for a great company like Summit Racing, and we’re proud to represent them on the racetrack. It’s a neat partnership that our team really values.”
The race in Norwalk will be the 12th of 24 in the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, and Line enters the event in the No. 3 position. Summit Racing teammate Greg Anderson is No. 2 and just 14 points out of first place. Only six races remain before the Countdown to the Championship field is set, and the KB Racing crew is in a fine position to secure their positions early.
Although the last race on the schedule, the Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, did not produce the desired results (Line qualified No. 9 and was ousted in the second round), the true abilities of the second-generation driver and the team that surrounds him have been proven all season long. Wisely, Line holds sight of the ultimate goal rather than fixating on any bumps in the road.
“Bristol was not a particularly good weekend for us – but we’re in a good position in the bigger picture,” said Line, who has won twice in three final rounds so far this season, including the Summit Racing Southern Nationals in Atlanta where he squared off with Anderson in an all-Summit Racing final. “We aren’t in a bad spot at all, we just made some mistakes and learned from them. You’ll have that because it’s difficult to be perfect every weekend, and we feel good going into our sponsor’s race in Norwalk. The Summit Racing team will definitely be good there.”
Line and Anderson will begin their weekend at the Summit Racing Equipment company picnic on Wednesday, where they will serve lunch to the employees based at the Tallmadge, Ohio, location and spend time getting to know the folks who cheer them on every weekend from Summit Racing’s home base.
“It doesn’t get any better than that – a little for them, a little for me,” joked Line. “It’s going to be a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to start the weekend. We definitely feel connected to those folks, and it means a lot to us that they invite us back each year. It would be something special to see them all in the winner’s circle on Sunday, that’s for sure.”
