Summit Racing–Solid first day of qualifying for Line at fast-paced NHRA Summernationals

Solid first day of qualifying for Line at fast-paced NHRA Summernationals

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J., June 5, 2015 – In the grand scheme of things, the first day of the 46th annual NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park went off without a hitch for Jason Line, and he is only just getting warmed up in his blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. With two very solid passes behind him, the Mooresville, N.C.-based driver is looking forward to the second day of the event and another shot at moving up the ladder.

Early morning rain moved out of the area to allow for cool temps and great runs for the Pro Stock crowd, and Line earned a bonus point in the first session with a quick 6.524-second pass at 213.06 mph while KB Racing proved a strong force as teammate Greg Anderson grabbed the top spot in the early part of the day.

A two-time No. 1 qualifier in Englishtown, Line continued to display a pleasing know-how of getting the power to the ground in the second session as he put a 6.511, 213.37 on the board that brought in another two bonus points as the second-quickest run of the session.

His runs were terrific, but the conditions and the simple knowledge of what could possibly be kept Line from celebrating his accomplishments at the end of the day. Instead, he could only look forward to what was to come and another opportunity.

“Both of our Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros ran really well today, and there is certainly more left in our runs,” said Line. “Looking at the data and the conditions, our plan is to go and get it tomorrow.

“Today wasn’t our best,” Line continued, in typically humble fashion. “But we know we can get the pole back for Summit Racing. We’re knocking on the door, and we should be faster. Tomorrow, that’s the goal.”
