Summit Racing–Anderson, No. 4, Eagerly Anticipating NHRA Four-Wide Eliminations

Anderson, No. 4, Eagerly Anticipating NHRA Four-Wide Eliminations

CONCORD, N.C., March 28, 2015 – Greg Anderson has a reputation at Concord’s zMAX Dragway as a fierce competitor undefeated in final rounds. At this weekend’s 6th annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, the driver of the striking red Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro is already set up for success on Sunday with a strong starting position and riding a wave of momentum following a win at the most recent event on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour.

Although the first two rounds of qualifying were cancelled due to persistent rain early in the day followed by a cold track and rising dew point on Friday, Anderson and the Summit Racing team awoke on Saturday full of optimism as conditions would plainly be ideal for quick times and thrilling racing.

Indeed, Anderson rocketed down the newly repaved racing surface in the opening session with a quick and fast 6.502-second pass at 213.64 mph that was third-quickest of the round and highlighted by a bonus qualifying point.

The second round of the day also stood as the final qualifying pass for the teams, and although he was fired up and ready to up his game, Anderson’s Summit Racing Camaro surprised the surging crew as it didn’t go two feet before shaking the tires. Anderson was slowed in the moment, but his enthusiasm was certainly not dampened.

“All in all, it was actually a good day,” said Anderson, who will start from the No. 4 position and race V. Gaines, Allen Johnson, and Jonathan Gray in round one of the four-across competition. “We definitely have the potential to run a lot faster, and I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I know my guys will hit the nail on the head, and my KB Racing teammate Jason Line and I will have two very fast Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaros.”

Still fresh in Anderson’s memory is being sidelined last season as he recovered from heart surgery and watching as his racecar, driven by Sweden’s FIA champ Jimmy Alund, powered to the winner’s circle at the unique Four-Wide Nationals.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity defend my car’s title tomorrow,” said Anderson. “I can’t wait.”
