What to Watch for at Arlington

  • New event, new excitement: 2026 marks the inaugural Java House Grand Prix of Arlington. First announced in October of 2024, the Grand Prix of Arlington brings the NTT INDYCAR SERIES back to the greater Dallas Ft. Worth area on a temporary street circuit around the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers stadiums. The 2.73-mile circuit is the second-longest track the series will visit in 2026—behind Road America—and features a nearly mile-long main straightaway, the longest on the 2026 schedule.
  • It’s tight at the top: Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou lost his championship lead for the first time since June of 2024 following contact in Phoenix. Despite that issue, a win at St. Pete has the four-time and reigning series champion only 19 points behind the championship leader. Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood is also right in the fight. A podium finish last time out at Phoenix and a fourth-place result in St. Pete have the Floridian—a three-time winner in 2025—sitting just five points out of the lead going into Arlington.
  • Living in a simulation: The Honda-powered drivers of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES have been using Honda Racing Corporation USA’s Driver in the Loop (DIL) simulator to prepare for the unknowns of the Arlington track. The new HRC US DIL simulator, located in Indianapolis, came online in 2024 and has been incredibly valuable for all of Honda and Acura’s drivers—but particularly when it comes to a brand-new track. Utilizing a modified Indy car cockpit, the HRC DIL Simulator can rotate a full 360-degrees in yaw, with the driver having a 270-degree view from a screen 2.5-meters high and nine meters in diameter to project the on-track images. You can check out Meyer Shank Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist taking a lap of the new Arlington Grand Prix circuit on the HRC US DIL simulator here.
