THE MONTH AHEAD: Kansas Double, Big Money at Boothill Coming Up in October

CONCORD, NC (September 23, 2025) – The final seven races of the 2025 season are on the horizon for the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision.

Four of them lie ahead in October across three tracks in two states in the final leadup to World of Outlaws World Finals.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead:

Humboldt Speedway | Humboldt Showdown (Oct. 3): The October slate kicks off with a weekend in the “Sunflower State,” the first half of which takes the World of Outlaws to Humboldt Speedway for the second time.

The first visit came three years ago when Kansas native Chase Junghans led all 40 circuits to keep the trophy in his home state. That event was the first major Super Late Model race at the track since the final Midwest Late Model Racing Association stop at Humboldt in 2014, which was won by Ryan Gustin.

Late Models may have a short history at the southeastern Kansas facility, but the track has been a Modified mainstay for decades. Humboldt has hosted the United States Modified Touring Series 62 times since 2001, with five of those trophies going to Gustin and one to Jake Timm in 2024.

81 Speedway | Ed Gressel Tribute (Oct. 4): Once things wrap up at Humboldt, the Series will make the two-hour trek west to Wichita to go racing at 81 Speedway for the fourth time.

The first two stops went to Brandon Sheppard in 2017 and 2022 before Dennis Erb Jr. won in 2023 in what still stands as his latest World of Outlaws victory. The list of winners at 81 also includes Gustin, who has three USMTS scores alongside several more in UCRA Late Model and Modified competition, plus Bobby Pierce, who won a split-field preliminary Feature with the World of Outlaws two years ago in addition to a MLRA win in 2022.

Boothill Speedway | Bayou Classic (Oct. 10-11): One week later, the eyes of the dirt racing world will be on Greenwood, LA for the state’s biggest Late Model race.

One year after Gustin won the inaugural World of Outlaws event at Boothill Speedway, the Bayou Classic has expanded to a two-day show in 2025. The amount of racing isn’t the only thing that has grown, as Saturday’s finale will now pay $50,000 to the victor.

The event has become the latest chapter in the history of Late Model racing at Boothill, most of which has taken place under the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series banner. The regional tour has raced at the 1/4-mile 20 times over the past 15 years, with names like Pierce, Billy Moyer, Cade Dillard, Garrett Alberson and Tyler Erb all finding Victory Lane.
