CORVETTE RACING AT CTMP: Second-Row Starts for PMM, DXDT

Solid qualifying sessions for Z06 GT3.R contingent ahead of Chevrolet Grand Prix BOWMANVILLE, Ontario (July 12, 2025) – Corvette Z06 GT3.R teams will start on the second row of their classes after two GT category qualifying for Sunday’s Chevrolet Grand Prix. Antonio Garcia and Tommy Milner qualified third and fourth, respectively, in Saturday’s GTD PRO session at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports, while Robert Wickens was third-quickest in GTD for DXDT Racing ahead of the seventh round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Garcia’s best lap was a 1:15.334 (117.508 mph) effort in the No. 3 Corvette that shares with championship co-leader Alexander Sims. The two won last year’s Chevrolet Grand Prix at CTMP to lead a Corvette 1-2 finish. They finished ahead of Nicky Catsburg and Milner, who was just 0.13 seconds behind in the No. 4 Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Both Corvettes were within 0.418 seconds of Neil Verhagen’s pole-winning time. Wickens qualified at his home track for the first time in his career with a lap of 1:15.876 (116.669 mph). The result in DXDT’s No. 36 Corvette, which he shares with Alec Udell, continued the strong showing in qualifying for the Z06 GT3.R that is equipped with a Bosch hand-controlled electronic braking system. Udell qualified the DXDT Corvette on the front row of GTD the last two races, and this is the second race in which Wickens and Udell will share the Z06 GT3.R. Also in GTD, Orey Fidani qualified the Canadian-liveried No. 13 Corvette 13th in class. He and teammate Matt Bell will look to break a tie at the top of the Bob Akin Award standings, which Fidani won in 2024 to secure an invite to this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Bell ended Saturday’s final practice third in GTD, showing the potential for the AWA Z06 GT3.R to move up the field in its home race.
The Chevrolet Grand Prix is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 13. The race will air live on USA from 2 to 5 p.m. with full streaming coverage on Peacock inside the U.S. and IMSA.com outside the U.S. IMSA Radio will air the race at IMSA.com along XM 206, SiriusXM Online 996.
CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R QUALIFYING DRIVER QUOTESANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Obviously we would have preferred P2 or P1 as well! But it’s pretty tight. It’s also tight on how you approach this track and how fine-tuned you need to have everything in order to go fast around here. It’s a shame I didn’t quite nail everything but in a way I can’t complain. It’s all good information toward tomorrow. Learning what we learned even in these conditions to see what we can do different, that’s the target. This morning (in final practice), it was good right away. We just tried to nail and get a little more out of it in qualifying, but it’s also good information for tomorrow. That’s what we can take away from today.”
TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I think we would have liked to have been a little further forward. For us qualifying is pretty important to keep the track position as far forward as we can. It’s still hard for us to race generally. Where we make our lap time is in the corners, and when you’re behind somebody it’s hard to show the speed. It’s better to be third and fourth than seventh and eighth, so from that side I’m not unhappy by any means. We’re at the front end, which is good. We’ll look at our strategy options for tomorrow and see what we can make happen to go for another Corvette 1-2.”
OREY FIDANI, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “This has been a very special weekend so far. I’m really happy to be back home and racing in front of family and friends that are coming out for this awesome event.”I love this track. It’s one of the most technical and hardest tracks around to drive. Maybe we are a little slower than last year with the heat and things being a little greasy. We’ll keep it on track, push forward and see if we can put on a good show for everyone.”I’m feeling awesome, and so is the car and the team. We really want to get that lead back in the Akin standings. After going to Le Mans this year, everyone really wants to go back. We want to do it again so we’re going to push hard to make that happen and get back to Le Mans.”
ROBERT WICKENS, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s actually my first time qualifying here in IMSA, so it’s very special. I was supposed to qualify here in 2022, but my son was born the day before so I wasn’t even in the country during qualifying! And then the other two TCR races, I was the finishing driver there, so yeah this place is special on a qualy lap. It was a lot of fun. The car was amazing. I think all weekend, I just haven’t quite clicked and extracted the most of this Corvette Z06 GT3.R yet, and I know it’s out there, I know it’s possible. So I’m a little bit gutted, but honestly the team’s been picking me up all weekend, so the fact that we put together a top-three start for tomorrow, I think we can hold our heads up high. But you never want to see the gap that we had to the front.”(On long-run pace) “I think we’re in and about where we need to be. I don’t think we’re setting the pace by any means. But every session we’ve gotten stronger and stronger, so we’re gonna go back to the drawing board again, look at data, look at video. I feel like every time I’m in this car, because I’m not in it regularly – as often as I want to be anyway – it’s taking a lot of coaching. Alec’s been doing an amazing job, helping me get the best of this car and so is everyone at DXDT Racing. So it’s been a full team effort, and yeah, excited for what we can do tomorrow.”
