Inside Line Promotions – TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (July 14, 2020) – Dominic Scelzi earned his first top 10 of the season during World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition last Sunday, capping a three-race weekend with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’
Scelzi qualified 18th quickest before he gained a position to finish fifth during a heat race at Terre Haute Action Track. That lined him up on the inside of the eighth row for a wild main event. Scelzi survived the close calls and gained a handful of positions to place 10th, which was his best run of the season with the series.

“It’s good to make progress and earn a top 10,” he said. “We’ve been struggling with being too tight lately. We haven’t been able to qualify very well and it feels like we haven’t raced well either so it’s nice to see a positive result to end the weekend.”
Scelzi began the weekend last Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, where he timed in 20th quickest, placed seventh in a heat race, ended second in the Last Chance Showdown and rallied from 20 th to 14th in the A Main. It was the second-most positions gained in the feature.
Scelzi followed that performance up with another 14th-place run on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis.
“We aren’t where we want to be, but we’re trying really hard to better ourselves,” he said. “We are going to change some stuff on the car this week to hopefully feel better this weekend.”
Scelzi plans on making his debut at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln., Ill., on Friday with the MOWA Sprint Car Series before heading to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday.
