PRO STOCK WINNER JASON LINE, KB RACING, SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT CHEVROLET CAMARO SS:
YOU’VE BEEN TO 10 FINAL ROUNDS. WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO IN A SEASON?
“I don’t know. Let’s see. It’s been amazing and I’m absolutely thrilled to be (in the winner’s circle). It’s my dream, and the fact that I get to do this for a living is just awesome. It’s been really exciting for us.”
TALK ABOUT YOUR DAY TODAY.
“Obviously, it was a great day. Any time you’re up here it’s a great day. The semifinals against Drew (Skillman) – they are getting faster – and I didn’t do a very good job against him. The same thing happened in the final. Both of us lit the bulb at the exact same time and when that happens to me I generally don’t do a very good job. We were able to get by that and in the final, when we staged my light blinked. And so the auto start didn’t start when (Greg Anderson) thought it was going to, and it really messes you up when that happens. Neither of us did a great job there; we were a little tardy. But I made a great run and were able to get the sixth win. It feels very, very good.”
FUNNY CAR:
JOHN FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, PEAK ADVCANCE AUTO PRATS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 8 qualifier; fell in first round of eliminations): “Wasn’t the weekend we wanted for any of us. We are all still in the top 10 (standings) but that isn’t where we want to be. We want to be in the top three. We are learning every day. That’s all I can say. Sitting here have a great car. I love this Chevrolet. It is working. We just have a lot of work to do in the drivetrain and we will figure it out.”
COURTNEY FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, TRAXXAS CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 5 qualifier; fell in second round): ““It really wasn’t a good weekend for the JFR teams. Our Traxxas Chevy was good and ran well in the heat. Our team did a great job getting the car together with quick turnaround times and to be able to run in the 3.0s in the heat was pretty impressive in the first round. n the second round our car was a little bit slower than we would have liked. It ran a 4.04; we had identical ETs, but unfortunately we didn’t get the win. Time to look at Norwalk. We’re finishing up our four in-a-row so we definitely hope to finish on a strong note.”
ROBERT HIGHT, JOHN FORCE RACING, AUTO CLUB CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 3 qualifier; fell in second round): “We didn’t get it done today but we aren’t too far off. We were really aggressive yesterday trying to find out how hard we can push this Camaro. Today we just made a solid run to get the first round win. In the second round we had a mechanical issue that we have been battling for a couple races. I think we have a handle on it now and I am ready to get to Norwalk. I would go to the race track tomorrow if I could. This Auto Club team is a great team and we aren’t hanging our heads.”
TOP FUEL:
BRITTANY FORCE, JOHN FORCE RACING, MONSTER ENERGY CHEVROLET TOP FUEL DRAGSTER (No. 3 qualifier; fell in second round): ”It was definitely tough to end our weekend as soon as we did. I really thought we had this one in the bag. I thought we were going to end up in the winner’s circle. There were so many things riding on it. This is my favorite track. It’s father’s day. My dad got inducted into the Hall of Fame here. It really would have been nice to bring home the win. We didn’t have a bad day. We had four good qualifying runs and we got to the second round. We’ll pack up and head to Norwalk and hopefully get the job done there,”
PRO STOCK:
GREG ANDERSON, KB RACING, SUMMIT RACING EQUIPMENT CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 2 qualifier; fell in final): “It went great until the final and then the wheels fell off. It’s still a great day on the mountain. Father’s Day, my dad is in the house, I had a wonderful day. It didn’t turn out exactly the way I wanted it to, but close to it. The Chevys still rock. They’ve been great all weekend and I can’t wait to get to the next race.”
DREW SKILLMAN, RAY SKILLMAN RACING, RAY SKILLMAN CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 4 qualifier; fell in semifinals): “It was good progress for us this weekend. We picked up all the way around. We went testing a couple of days ago and we just got better and better as the week went.”
VINCENT NOBILE, MOUNTAIN VIEW RACING, MOUNTAIN VIEW TIRE CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 5 qualifier; fell in second round): “We’ve had a great car all weekend. We are consistent. Unfortunately, Drew Skillman just ran a little quicker than us. We did do a lane swap before that run but I really don’t think that impacted our pass too much. I know my team has a win coming soon. We are long overdue. We go to Norwalk next weekend, and that track has always been pretty good to me.”
SHANE GRAY, GRAY MOTORSPORTS, VALVOLINE/NOVA SERVICES CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 7 qualifier; fell in second round): “I had not been real happy with my driving the last couple of races, but today went pretty well. Chris (McGaha) and Greg (Anderson) – well, anybody in Pro Stock can be really good on the Tree, so to get the jump on them both today was good. Just wish we’d have been able to leg it all the way out against Greg. We’ve had good speed thanks to the horsepower from our guys in the engine shop, and we’ve had that pretty much all year. We just need to get going a little quicker.”
CHRIS MCGAHA, HARLOW SAMMONS RACING, HARLOW SAMMONS OF ODESSA CHEVROLET CAMARO SS (No. 8 qualifier; fell in first round): “We’re pretty frustrated but I know we’ll get back to where we were eventually. We continue to make gains with our Chevrolet Camaro and we’ll keep plugging away at it.”
