Line Eager to Compete in a Very Tight Field on Sunday in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash., August 8, 2015 – Jason Line and his blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro are all set for Sunday in Seattle at the 28th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals. After four rounds of qualifying, Line is amazed at the tight field and looks forward to the competition as he charges towards a fourth Pacific Raceways victory. Line, of Mooresville, N.C., qualified No. 8 and will race KB Racing teammate Vincent Nobile in the first round on Sunday.

In the first round of qualifying and under a sunny sky that brought warmth to the racing surface, Line raced to a 6.546-second pass at 211.89 mph. He was No. 7 until the second session when he improved to a 6.509, 212.06 and moved into the No. 5 position.

Saturday’s conditions were a bit different as a cloud cover came and went and came back again. Line clocked a 6.531, 211.46 followed by a 6.514, 212.33 and ultimately landed eighth in the qualifying order. Line’s match with Nobile will be the fifth of the year. In each of previous four meetings this season, Line has had the upper hand. With lane choice, he surely hopes to have it again – but with so little difference between Line and the competition, he knows anything can happen on Sunday.

“I was happy to qualify in the top half, because this is a crazy field,” said Line, noting one of the closest fields in recent history. “To have eight cars within .008-second, has that even ever happened before? It’s pretty darn tight; the top eight all qualified with a 6.50 and that is a rare deal. It’s great for the fans. If you like close racing, I don’t know what else you could ask for.

“Tomorrow should be a lot of fun for the fans, and it’ll be a big challenge for us because man, it’s stacked. If you want to win tomorrow, you better be faster, that’s for sure. We’re going to have our work cut out for us, and it’s going to be a tough deal, but Team Summit is certainly looking forward to the fight. The racetrack is phenomenal. I don’t think it could get any better. Tomorrow should be a good day.”
