Defending Seattle Pro Stock Champ Line Ready for More
Mooresville, N.C., August 5, 2015 – Summit Racing NHRA Pro Stock driver Jason Line really struggled with closing the deal at Seattle’s Pacific Raceways early in his career, but once he accomplished the feat, it started the ball rolling. This weekend at the 28th annual NHRA Northwest Nationals, Line will be aiming to defend the title he earned there last year, the third of his career in five Seattle final rounds.
“Seattle started off as a really tough track for me, but in recent years it has been a really good place for me,” said Line, driver of the blue Summit Racing Chevrolet Camaro. “I like going there. It’s a nice part of the country, and to be honest it’s a little Minnesota-ish. It reminds me of home and where I grew up racing, and that makes it a very enjoyable track to visit.”
The Minnesota native launched his Pro Stock career in 2004 and has been running hard ever since. He has accumulated 37 wins in 77 final rounds and two NHRA Pro Stock world championships over the course of his career and is still going strong. So far this year, Line has two wins in three final rounds, and he is No. 3 in the Pro Stock points. Last weekend in Sonoma, he was one of three drivers to have secured his position in the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship.
At this point in the season, with just three races remaining before the Countdown field is set, Line knows that every race counts. The previous accomplishments of Team Summit in Seattle brings confidence to KB Racing.
“Last year we raced Greg in the final in Seattle, and we’ll have to see if we can do that again this year,” said Line. “These are, historically, a fun couple of races for the KB Racing team – Sonoma last week and then Seattle.
“Our Chevy Camaros really like these racetracks, and we probably should have come out of Sonoma with the win. But Seattle gives us another chance, and we generally run really well there. It’s a good track for Team Summit, and we have a lot of confidence going into this race. We want to finish the Western Swing on a high note, obviously, and go back home with a trophy.”
En route to Seattle, the Summit Racing drivers had the opportunity to make a slight detour to Nevada for an event that they had been looking forward to since this time last year.
“Greg and I had the chance to go to Hot August Nights in Reno this week with the folks from Summit Racing Equipment for the second time, and just like last year, it was something we really enjoyed,” said Line. “I’m a muscle car guy, and this is a huge car show with thousands of cars on display and tons of folks who come out to see it. It’s a great time, and a really good way for us to start this weekend.”
