CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA BRAKES CAMARO ZL1 – Pole Winner
YOU WON HERE IN THE FALL AND NOW YOU’VE CAPTURED YOUR FIRST POLE AT DOVER. WHAT WERE THOSE TWO QUALIFYING LAPS LIKE FOR YOU?
“Super fast. The corner speeds are just so high. There’s just a lot more throttle through the corner than what I feel like we’ve been carrying. But it was a lot of fun. Our NAPA Brakes Chevy was good right there. It’s always nice. This place can either be a lot of fun in qualifying, or it can be a handful. Today was one of those fun ones. Team Hendrick 1-2 (William Byron qualified 2nd) was awesome, Chevrolet power and everybody that contributes to our car has been working hard. Hopefully we can back it up on Sunday.”

LOOKING FORWARD TO SUNDAY WITH THE HIGH SPEEDS AND NEW PACKAGE, HOW MUCH OF A CHALLENGE IS THAT GOING TO BE FOR YOU PHYSICALLY?
“It’s going to be a really tough race. So, you’d better eat your Wheaties these next couple of days and hydrate, because I think Sunday is going to be tough, especially if the sun is out like it is right now. Just a big thanks to all my guys. The No. 9 team has been working really hard and all of our group. We have a good group. We’ve just got to keep after it and hopefully stay where we start on Sunday.”

TY DILLON, NO. 13 TWISTED TEA CAMARO ZL1 Media Breakout Session Highlights:

INAUDIBLE:
“Running against the wall has been more and more important each year. But we throw this new package at it and I don’t know what that’ll look like. Whether we get a lot of drafting, which could be very key in determining the race. I hope we do it. I think it will be a really fun race. I’m excited for that. Every week is a different monster than we’re figuring out. I think Kansas is going to be a really good one.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Ty Dillon

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT MOVING BACK TO SINGLE-CAR QUALIFYING?
“I am kind of glad to be back to it and I am glad to be able to just do it once as opposed to three times. Sitting there and trying to find a hole is not that much fun for a driver. So, I understand why we had to do it and I get it for the fans. It’s probably not as good of a show as group qualifying, but it will be exciting here for sure.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Alex Bowman

DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY IS CELEBRATING ITS 50th ANNIVERSARY THIS SEASON. BEING THE DRIVER WITH THE MOST WINS HERE, TALK A LITTLE ABOUT THIS TRACK AND WHAT IT HAS MEANT FOR YOUR CAREER
“Clearly, I’m very biased about this race track. I think it’s the best one out there. I think all drivers can appreciate just the challenge that comes with this track, the banking, the speed, the transitions from the straightaways through the corners. I noticed on social media before we got here that drivers and crew members and crew chiefs were all talking about how much they love coming here. it’s just a very unique challenge and a totally different race track than anything else we race on.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Jimmie Johnson

WHAT’S YOUR REACTION, FEELING AS A DRIVER TO SINGLE-CAR QUALIFYING?
“It’s fine; I would say probably a good thing overall. It’s just simplifies a lot of stuff, which I think is good. It’s the way I learned to qualify and kind of got started and I’m sure like everybody else did. The group qualifying is fine, I think it will be fine at road courses and probably makes more sense at those places anyway. You just don’t think about it. When it’s your turn you go and if you don’t like it get over it.” Continue reading Chevy Racing–NASCAR–Dover–Chase Elliott

After staying an extra day in Charlotte to test, Cruz Pedregon and team are eager to get the Southern Nationals and put down some hot times in Hot’Lanta. “We made one run in testing to get some additional information after feeling like we were playing catch-up all last weekend due to the weather. Dominic Scelzi Earns Podium Finish at Thunderbowl Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – TULARE, Calif. (May 1, 2019) – Dominic Scelzi continued his podium streak behind the wheel of a Roth Motorsports sprint car by maneuvering to a third-place result last Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway.

Scelzi qualified sixth quickest to start the night before he advanced from third to second place in a heat race. That narrowly missed a spot into the dash and lined him up on the inside of the fourth row for the main event.

ON BIRTHDAY WEEKEND, JOHN FORCE AND PEAK CHEVY IN PURSUIT OF
150TH NHRA TOUR VICTORY
COMMERCE, Ga. (May 1, 2019) — When the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series reached Atlanta Dragway last May, Hall of Fame owner and driver John Force had suffered numerous explosions and was sitting 11th in the points standings with skeptics questioning his driving abilities. To say the PEAK Coolant and Motor Oil BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro SS team has done a 180 turnaround is an understatement.

Twelve months after that firestorm, the 16-time champion heads to the 39th annual Arby’s NHRA Southern Nationals, with only one question looming — will the legendary driver celebrate his 150th tour victory on the weekend of a milestone birthday? SALOON CAR RACING FROM ANOTHER PLANET

‘The Doorslammers’

Santa Pod Raceway

Fri.17 – Sun.19 May 2019

So what, exactly, is a ‘doorslammer’? Simple: in drag racing parlance, it’s any full-bodied car with a sprung chassis and functioning doors – in other words, a saloon car.

But the doorslammers coming to Santa Pod Raceway for two weekends in May are unlike any other saloon cars on earth. How does 0-260mph in 5.5 seconds sound? Continue reading SALOON CAR RACING FROM ANOTHER PLANET
